Very small mercy - Corbyn has to go now

That would be a tiny ray of weak sunshine. If he actually does step down, that is. And depends who replaces him.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 22:17

Britain Elects @britainelects
Small spots of confidence of the Tories gaining Sunderland Central.

Tiny mercy - Boris now has to deliver Brexit and face the music

That could be a bigger mercy in the longer term.

The Tories will have nobody else to blame for the damage that Brexit does to the economy and people's lives. And the voters who only voted for them to 'get Brexit done' are not going to thank them for failing to do what they promised.

derxa · 12/12/2019 22:18

When exactly did I do this? You didn't Red.
We need a complete reconfiguration of British politics

Oakmaiden · 12/12/2019 22:18

I want to know what the actual voter turnout was. Anecdotally it seems significantly up, which is good.

TatianaLarina · 12/12/2019 22:18

What has happened to this country.

PermanentTemporary · 12/12/2019 22:18

Great. I voted for a party that makes me feel sick in order to try to get out a government that is a bunch of actual criminals.

But it's been pretty obvious from the start this is what would happen.

chomalungma · 12/12/2019 22:18

A few week ago, the Conservatives had no majority and couldn't get anything through Parliament.

What a massive fuck up the Lib Dems, Labour and the SNPs have done. They had so much power....and lost it.

Cendrillon you have issues, my dear. See a therapist rather than hurting other people to build your self esteem.

Johnson had better deliver now. I don't think people will be too forgiving if he doesn't.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/12/2019 22:19

The Tories always find a scapegoat when the UK goes belly up it will be the EUs fault for not rolling over. The victim mentality will crack up and it could get really ugly.

BercowsFestiveFlamingo · 12/12/2019 22:19

How long will that majority last though looking at recent history?

yolofish · 12/12/2019 22:20

DD1 moved to France today for a job that lasts 5 months. Seriously considering telling her she should think about staying there (assuming she will be allowed to and not sent 'home' at the end of Jan?)

Westfacing · 12/12/2019 22:20

Even some good 'Portillo' moments won't matter any more.

Unless of course Bozo loses his seat!

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 22:20

If the SNP achieve another near wipeout, while England and parts of Wales go for the most hard right Tory party ever,

then the Conservative & Unionist Party will have destroyed the Union

They can refuse a referendum for as many years as they are in power, but
the Union is now a Union in name only

sunglasses123 · 12/12/2019 22:20

Corbyn was the idiot. Let’s hope he is chucked out and they get a proper leader.

PotterHead1985 · 12/12/2019 22:21

I think Swinson May lose her seat.

Hurdygurdy24 · 12/12/2019 22:21

the UK have decided "we" would rather leave the EU and sell our souls to the americans than have cancer treatment and food.

Grow up.

Is your entire viewpoint based on some daily mail bollocks?

3dogs2cats · 12/12/2019 22:21

I am absolutely gutted

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 22:21

Let's hope the shitshow that is Self ID is also DEAD in the water. That is some comfort...who would touch it now when it has cost the parties so much?

Random18 · 12/12/2019 22:22

Only a Dictatorship would refuse a referendum.

Oh wait, that's what we've voted for........

I just can’t bear the thought of the Tories crowing in Parliament on Tuesday.
I feel like I am watching a funeral.

Lucygoeswalkies · 12/12/2019 22:24

He’s not impressed.

Surely Corbyn has to go now

So many working class people have voted tory and fucked themselves over. I do not understand it.

DH and I both voted Labour and the irony is that as high earners we will probably be OK under a tory government.
