bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 18:59

Your point about me is .... ?

Limer · 10/12/2019 19:01

Exactly Epic we need hides like rhinos here in the Arms.

Holly I despair of the general public tbh. If they believe EVERYTHING they read online, on their own heads be it! And if they can't read... words fail me. I remember ages ago there was a joke candidate for the "Literal Democrats" who ended up with something like 10,000+ votes and split the real LibDem vote, all because the voters couldn't read.

bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 19:03

Please remind me when I have called anyone any of those things. And please let me know when I have supported the use of that language.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:06

“Please remind me when I have called anyone any of those things. And please let me know when I have supported the use of that language.”

You were the one that requested avoiding ‘silly stereotypes’. Don’t know why you are in here telling us tbh. We have had years of that bullshit from remainers and labour voters, just recently we decide to refuse to take it anymore and you think you can just come in, be thread police and slap us back down again. I don’t fucking think so.

bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 19:10

You may have had bullshit from other people. I thought this pub welcomed everyone. Turns out, not so much.

bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 19:12

It's hilarious. I get shit on The Thread that shall not be named for criticising Corbyn and Swinson. And shit on here for not being you.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:14

Whatever. We have supported you time and time again. You know that. Have you reciprocated? Nope. You just come in and tell us off, again and again and again.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:16

Anyway. I’ll leave it there.

bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 19:16

Pointing out to one poster that they were using silly stereotypes is not telling you all off. But I can tell you are obviously a bit wound up.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:18

Dusty? Any memes? 😂

Hollycatberry · 10/12/2019 19:21

If they believe EVERYTHING they read online

I think the problem in the last few days is that supposedly trusted sourced of news or info have been caught up in dramas unfolding and ended up posting incorrect things or perhaps tweeting before things are known. If the public can’t trust BBC journalists etc, who can they trust. The parody twitter accounts are good at looking authentic too which catches people out, like you can copy and paste a blue tick into your screen name and look like a verified account.
I get that the public need to check what they are reading, but just highlighting that it’s getting more difficult to find trustworthy sources. Not sure what the solution is though.

Saucery · 10/12/2019 19:21

Interesting interview just now on C4 news, with a senior Dr pointing out what was discussed upthread about the rot setting in the NHS many years before the current govt. He blames management, which I’m not entirely sure is fair across the board, but it’s a refreshing change to see a Dr who isn’t pushing the Labour As NHS Saviours narrative challenged.

Saucery · 10/12/2019 19:23

*challenging, rather.
Distracted by conversation about that hospital photo. Veering towards ‘fake’, I’m afraid. The fluids bag.....it’s not right, is it?

bellinisurge · 10/12/2019 19:25

Epic and I share negative experiences from the NHS under Labour so, no, I don't believe the "Only Labour can save the NHS" bullshit either.
It's an experience I wish neither of us had in common despite other apparent differences .

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:26

“The fluids bag.....it’s not right, is it?”

I think the consensus was that it was oxygen, however there also seemed to be a consensus that oxygen should only ever be used whilst the patient is upright under those particular circumstances.

Disclaimer. Not a doctor! Lol. Just what several med professionals seemed to be saying online.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:27

“Epic and I share negative experiences from the NHS under Labour so, no, I don't believe the "Only Labour can save the NHS" bullshit either.
It's an experience I wish neither of us had in common despite other apparent differences .”

Fair comment. 😉 sorry you have had those problems too. Xx

Saucery · 10/12/2019 19:28

There has been a strong movement of Labour voters determined to imply that every single HCP would like people to vote against the Conservatives, which is simply ludicrous. I am getting tired of being preached at by them tbh, because they do not represent the NHS and shouldn’t be pretending that they do.

Saucery · 10/12/2019 19:30

Ok, thanks, Epic, must admit hadn’t seen those discussions. But experience suggests it isn’t a good idea to have it in that position. Also, there were no spare pillows/blankets available? I find that unbelievable.

squid4 · 10/12/2019 19:32

It's a nonbreather & facemask - ie, oxygen bag. Nasal cannula for oxygen deliver 1-4L of oxygen, bag is higher. If a child isn't tolerating the prongs in their nose (common) we sometimes try and "waft" the oxygen using a higher flow at a small distance from the face. Obviously I don't know the exact plan here but it's commonly seen. if he was discharged the next day it's unlikely he was requiring high flow oxygen, but "wafting" can give you a lower flow without distressing a child.

Children who have pneumonia / flu still have to sleep, so they are not always kept upright - a nonsense. I think it is pretty clear from the picture the child was not receiving optimal nursing care and I'm sure all the staff were completely devastated by that, as I am daily when it's overrun and we're not treating people as we should.

I posted something this morning about how things have been verified as true by the hospital medical officer and the fake news tweets that went viral have been debunked... sorry a bit tired to go back and read now. Scary the misinformation out there right now.

squid4 · 10/12/2019 19:32

A&E is absolute carnage right now. Of all the things to try and claim were fake...!

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:34

“I am getting tired of being preached at by them tbh, because they do not represent the NHS and shouldn’t be pretending that they do.”

It’s actually a really poor strategy, they are in serious danger of hardening public opinion against them and the NHS. That will work for NOBODY. They deserve to have the respect and full support of the whole public. People (at this stage) still see the immense value in the NHS, despite it’s many failings, they need to avoid alienating the support and belief in the institution by being so apolitical and militant.

squid4 · 10/12/2019 19:35

It's really hard watching people die for avoidable reasons.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:35

Apolitical? Lol. Political.

Major post fail. 😂

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 19:37

“It's really hard watching people die for avoidable reasons.”

Agreed. I gave a list of 5 of my beloved family members, whom I watched die for avoidable reasons in a failing NHS under Tony Blair. You are preaching to the choir. The point is, this is a decades old issue. It did not begin in 2010.
