First off, comrade Hilda has been busy in the propaganda dept! Praise be to Hilda! The dear leader will appreciate and reward your efforts with a cushy job in the newly opened Ministry of Bullshit. ✊🥀

Specials board.

⭐️ Snacks.

•Salty Bar nuts
(we always have too many)

•Marrow crisps,
I know you all hate them, but we had a glut and needed to do something with them. 🤷🏻‍♀️😬

⭐️ Mains.

A festive choice of...

•’Properly Stuffed’ “Christmas voting” Turkey.

•Festive Glazed Gammons.

•Goose that laid the Gilded socialist egg.

•’Whigs’ in blankets.

•Sauce for the Goose and Sauce for the Gander

•Brussels’ sprouts.
Divisive, yet still popular in some quarters...

•Neeps and tatties.
Grown in Corbyn’s Communist plot and kindly gifted back to us by the SNP.

⭐️Festive Drinks.

•Rebecca’s long Baileys.
Seems nice enough, but can be vicious if you have too much.

•Corbyn’s Victory Gin.
State sanctioned by big brother.

•Bag in, artisan Earl Grey Cocktail.
A Boris election special.

•Red flag Rum.
for the singing socialists among us.

•Egg nog.
Gifted by Trump. Sticks in your throat a bit, but it’s polite to drink it and pretend to half enjoy it anyway.

•The #ClassicDmitri.
Shaken and stirred. A Russian Vodka based Cocktail, shrouded in mystery and intrigue. No one really knows how it came to exist, but all we know is, that it might have happened. Somewhere. And now it’s on the menu. Enjoy!

⭐️Desserts.

•Imported Panettone.
Get it fast, I’m reliably informed we will never ever have it again post Brexit.

•Traditional Christmas pudding.
have a good look for that old fashioned sixpence inside, we might need it when all the money runs out.

•Damson jam steamed pudding.
I’m told by the suppliers, that It’s like the infamous Mumsnet chicken, we can get eleventy billion servings from it and still have more for the freezer.

As always, welcome to all who pass through this place, but, as ever please observe the sign above the bar. If you can’t read it. It says...

DON’T BE A TWAT.

I bloody hate the divisiveness that has been a result of the referendum, the 'ooh let's go and spark up the other place' shit.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 06/12/2019 22:19

Yeah, I saw it, it was then quickly deleted! Out of order, but there you go. I feel awful for that poster because of what she says she has been through, but there was no call for that crap.

My quarrel is not with her, it’s with the politicians. No need for getting personal imo.

GrinGrinGrin

That NEVER happens there, no siree. Nothing to see here.

Do you come in peace tonight or not Yolo?

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 06/12/2019 22:23

That probably came over wrong, as in fairness you might be being general there Yolo I think?

OP posts:

I may have misunderstood your pp... sorry if I did.

OP posts:
yolofish · 06/12/2019 22:23

It seems to work both ways epic? Personally, I always come in peace - I dont agree with masses of you on here, but I dont expect to but I want to know how you think. I'm not arrogant enough to think I could change it, but it seems to me that healing the division is the best possible outcome, and that can only come through a degree of understanding each other's pov. If I was at all techy literate I would now add a peace sign emoji but can only manage Wine!

BelleHathor · 06/12/2019 22:26

🕊🏳🕊🏳 Yolo

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 06/12/2019 22:27

Apols for totally getting that wrong Yolo! BlushFlowers I totally agree, it’s messy. Everyone is entitled to have a view, even if it differs from the next person, so thank you so much, for respecting ours, despite being in a different place Smile.

I hate it. I want it over, I want my country back together again, I miss it.

We are much more light hearted here, I think that upsets some, it’s not intentional, or designed to offend, it’s just our way of dealing with things. I always deploy dark humour in times of stress. I guess that’s very british of me! 😂

My family business has gone down the pan recently, we are on the verge of going broke, but here I am, cracking jokes, it’s what I do, and how I cope with the world in general. On a wider scale, that’s the ‘arms’ really, just getting on with the shit and laughing it off, it’s not for everyone, but it works for us. SmileWink

yes I hate this division... tbh I dont know what the answer is now. '

get it done' is a short term solution - because it cannot possibly be that simple. I think BJ cannot open his mouth without lying or saying what he thinks will please most people the most.

LD 'just revoke' is not really possible because of the anger it would cause the 52%.

So, although I'm not a Corbyn fan, I find his plan quite simple and offers options to everyone not just the Leavers. OK, it will take 6 months more, but for something of this importance, surely it's worth making it the best it can be - for everyone?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 06/12/2019 22:38

“get it done' is a short term solution - because it cannot possibly be that simple. I think BJ cannot open his mouth without lying or saying what he thinks will please most people the most.”

We know that though, most normal people do, but ‘get brexit started’ ‘let’s begin the process’ isn’t really a catchy sound bite is it? It’s going to take time, it always was going to, but the abject bollocks from parliament and the delays in getting the ball rolling have been beyond ridiculous. And it has to start somewhere, at some point tbf. Putting off the next bit only adds to the delays, it certainly does nothing to shorten them. We certainly cannot carry on as we are! God help us all! Get.Brexit....Nope. Isn’t really working for me tbh... 😂😂😂😂

🕊 🍷

Dove of peace & a drink for yolo

I've no beef with anyone Yolo

I can't support Corbyn (even if he was the only option for Brexit I wouldn't - I'd rather spoil my vote)

As it is, his offer is remain or remain, and further gaming the result by allowing non-citizens to vote - not an 'honest broker' by any stretch of the imagination 🤷🏻‍♀️

BJ will 'get Brexit done' in the political sense - as soon as we leave & enter transition the political side of it is lessened significantly & we can move onto other things
The future trade deals will be in the hands of negotiators & politicians will no longer be scrapping to stop Brexit (thank god)

DustyDiamond · 06/12/2019 22:45

In the spirit of the glitching Matrix I've done a pic! 🙌

If we're forced to have another referendum - which we all pretty much know is in the hope of remaining in the EU....as we'd be having to start all over again anyway, I don't think 6 months is long enough. I would want everyone to be fully informed about exactly what it will mean to Remain.....including the negative aspects of it, which are never mentioned.

Leavers have been told for the last 3 and a half years that they didn't really know what they'd voted for. That's also true of most Remainers. Particularly the younger voters who are being encouraged to vote Remain.

SingingLily · 06/12/2019 22:54

Missed the debate on purpose but think I should have watched it now Smile

I did post before to say thank you for the meme, Dusty - I'm honoured - but my post seems to have disappeared 🤷🏼‍♀️

Someone mentioned a weak joke about manifestos at the end of the debate. Here's my view of manifestos (in a non-partisan way, of course!)

“If we're forced to have another referendum - which we all pretty much know is in the hope of remaining in the EU....as we'd be having to start all over again anyway, I don't think 6 months is long enough.”

I wouldn’t vote in it. It’s just a con, and everyone loses with that kind of deal. What is the purpose of retaining all of the elements that lock us in, with zero influence at the table. That’s arguably way worse than either full remain or full brexit, regardless of what side you are on. Senseless.

Again, it’s a con and I want no part of it. It’s disingenuous and a thumbed nose to everyone leave or remain. From the very man who has campaigned against the EU for his whole career.

If it comes to this, my faith in democracy and politics is lost forever, and it is only hanging on by a thread as it is.

^ This. To the power of 10.

We cannot keep rehashing the referendum. It was held. The result by 52-48 was to Leave. People on both sides either informed themselves before voting or they didn't. Just as they do with ever single election we've ever had. People on both sides either had rational reasons for voting as they did or they voted on a whim. Just as they do with every single election we've ever had.

That's democracy.

And as Winston Churchill pointed out, democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others.

GreenishMe · 06/12/2019 23:31

I wouldn't vote in a 2nd Referendum either - but I wouldn't be in any hurry to 'get Lexit done'.........I'd rather people had more time to question remaining.

DustyDiamond · 06/12/2019 23:33

I love all the cartoons you post Lily 😍

Twas my pleasure to do a bespoke pic for you ✊🥀🍷

Just seeing on Twitter that Reddit have announced the 'leaked docs' on US/UK trade used by Jezza were part of Russian coordinated campaign 😮🙄

"We believe this was part of a campaign that has been reported as originating from Russia"

People have been paging Carol Cadwalladr as she's obvs all over anything Russian....
(....but there seems to be radio silence.... 😂)

On a serious note though - Jezza wants to be PM & be responsible for the safety & security of this country.
He can't even reliably vet or source documents ffs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Milkywayfan · 07/12/2019 00:05

Hi coming very late to this thread but intrigued by get brexit started idea and then we can leave it all to the regulators and negotiators.
The next (minimum) 5 years are going to be only about brexit in politics as all the trade offs inherent in the idea need to be decided (unless you actually want brexit in name only ). As examples

  • fishing industry - you can regain the Quotas but then the EU will refuse to import the fish we sell them and the fishing industry will go bust (we export most of what we fish) - so the decision for politicians (-and hence you all) is give up the quotas or send most Fisherman bust
  • and by the way we won’t get wider trade deal without a fishing deal so you can also decide which of those you prefer
  • car industry - either full regulatory alignment (that is “brexit in name only”) or most car plants close over the next 3-5 years (slowly so here you can pretend it is not brexit if that makes you feel better)
  • immigration and mutual recognition of qualifications - either you let all those EU immigrants in and say their qualifications work fine or you can close a very large number of small UK service businesses
Etc etc etc etc That is all that will be happening for 5 years Eventually the trade offs have to happen Enjoy...
