First off, comrade Hilda has been busy in the propaganda dept! Praise be to Hilda! The dear leader will appreciate and reward your efforts with a cushy job in the newly opened Ministry of Bullshit. ✊🥀

Specials board.

⭐️ Snacks.

•Salty Bar nuts
(we always have too many)

•Marrow crisps,
I know you all hate them, but we had a glut and needed to do something with them. 🤷🏻‍♀️😬

⭐️ Mains.

A festive choice of...

•’Properly Stuffed’ “Christmas voting” Turkey.

•Festive Glazed Gammons.

•Goose that laid the Gilded socialist egg.

•’Whigs’ in blankets.

•Sauce for the Goose and Sauce for the Gander

•Brussels’ sprouts.
Divisive, yet still popular in some quarters...

•Neeps and tatties.
Grown in Corbyn’s Communist plot and kindly gifted back to us by the SNP.

⭐️Festive Drinks.

•Rebecca’s long Baileys.
Seems nice enough, but can be vicious if you have too much.

•Corbyn’s Victory Gin.
State sanctioned by big brother.

•Bag in, artisan Earl Grey Cocktail.
A Boris election special.

•Red flag Rum.
for the singing socialists among us.

•Egg nog.
Gifted by Trump. Sticks in your throat a bit, but it’s polite to drink it and pretend to half enjoy it anyway.

•The #ClassicDmitri.
Shaken and stirred. A Russian Vodka based Cocktail, shrouded in mystery and intrigue. No one really knows how it came to exist, but all we know is, that it might have happened. Somewhere. And now it’s on the menu. Enjoy!

⭐️Desserts.

•Imported Panettone.
Get it fast, I’m reliably informed we will never ever have it again post Brexit.

•Traditional Christmas pudding.
have a good look for that old fashioned sixpence inside, we might need it when all the money runs out.

•Damson jam steamed pudding.
I’m told by the suppliers, that It’s like the infamous Mumsnet chicken, we can get eleventy billion servings from it and still have more for the freezer.

As always, welcome to all who pass through this place, but, as ever please observe the sign above the bar. If you can’t read it. It says...

DON’T BE A TWAT.

Clearly, you are just a daily mail benefit scrounger though.

And you need to take up that invitation to do a spare shift at the food bank, Dusty, you Tory-voting independently-wealthy lady at leisure, just to see what it's really like to be on UC. Honestly, you just don't get it, do you? Grin

😂😂

I've lived the life of decent income & also the bare bones of benefits

I'm fortunate because I'm financially literate, am not hesitant about challenging authority, am not too proud to access all the different help that I can & I'm able to navigate the minefield that is the welfare system
Also, I already had access to a credit card & monthly dd for utilities (not on a meter) & I didn't need furniture or to set up a home from scratch and my children were not very young (they were 10 & 13 when I lost my job)

I appreciate that my experience on benefits is not universal but I can honestly say that I had enough to live comfortably without food banks or choosing between heating & eating

My life for 4 years was full of spreadsheets - accounting for every pound in & out - but I was never destitute at any point
Couldn't afford holidays or regular luxuries but had enough to save a few pounds a week for bdays & Xmas and was able to keep me & the kids fed, clothed and a few treats every now & then

It's not an enviable position to be in by any stretch, and not long term lifestyle choice, but it was a safety net that was there when I needed it, and I will be eternally grateful that it was there

There's def problems that need to be addressed with UC & the disability benefits are nowhere near enough for those that are genuinely unable to work

But, for able bodied people, out of work benefits are not the Victorian nightmare that is promulgated

Get in there comrades, ask some questions. Cut through the sycophantic bullshit. ✊🥀

I can’t ask anymore questions, but here is a corker of an angle for anyone who wants a go.

It’s so quiet in here! Where are all you “daily mail reading” layabouts (thanks WM) today? Late 🥐 and ☕️ for all.

Can’t believe we are nearly there now... the wait has and continues to be so excruciating... 😱

7 days folks... ✊🥀😬

Working 🙄

It still feels like election is years away. Maybe just winter dragging, I don’t know.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this here so tell me off if not...

I’ve just caught up on the Nish Kumar saga. I’ve seen a few clips and I didn’t realise his type of comedy was still a thing, it was annoying, divisive and boring and cliched twenty five years ago.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 13:41

Hi Autumn!

Whilst I don’t at all agree with the throwing of bread rolls (although mildly amusing as a stupendously british act of aggression). I am honestly sick to death of these sanctimonious so called comedians. Read the room dude. I get that he was asked to do this for charity so it was only partially his fault that he was there and I respect him giving up his time for free, but my respect ends there. Once he knew who his audience would be, why didn’t he use other less patronising material? My suspicion is, he thought it would be a great opportunity to laud his ‘superior intellect’ over lesser people who had no choice but to listen to his views and opinons. A captive audience indeed! He hugely underestimated the strength of reaction or perhaps just didn’t give a shit.

When I go to listen or watch comedians, I don’t want their damn political opinions, there are too many political opinions out there at the moment already. I want to escape from all that with some humour. Yes, by all means crack a little joke about politics being messy in general, people can all relate to that. But when you dictate to a specific group of people who may not agree with you, on politics, it’s just so bloody cringe. Why do these people always believe their opinions are so worthy? And why do they always presume they are right?

So FWIW (wasted bread excepting) I have zero sympathy for this prize tit.

Lesser people in his mind I mean...

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 13:43

Russell Howard went the same way. I stopped watching him several years back.

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 13:44

It’s the self aggrandizing sense of importance and superiority that gets me. Not funny, not even a little.

Gah! A missed opportunity, Epic. I've already got in there on the webchat and asked whether the cost of renewing Trident is already in the "fully costed" manifesto (spoiler: it isn't); if not, why not, and where would he find the money from.

Last time I experienced the torture of a so-called comedian who clearly couldn't read the room, Autumn, was about ten years ago at a prestigious event for very senior government staff. Think a younger version of Bernard Manning. His routine was excruciating and everyone in the room, after about five minutes of his rubbish, started chatting to each other at an increasing volume until he just couldn't be heard anymore. He gave up in the end.

A far better response. And no bread rolls wasted. Grin

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 14:09

These are apparently some examples of his ‘jokes’... (according to twitter anyway...) hilarious. Hmm

Honest toil, of course! In fact, I'm actively paying income tax right now, being PAYE and all that. Someone's got to fund the Socialist Utopia. Grin

Dear God. The man wouldn't recognise racism if it stared back at him in the mirror. He wouldn't recognise humour if it did the same either. People actually pay to watch this man???

Breaking news

Trump is to be impeached.

Apparently anyway...

Trump is to be impeached.

So that's why he hurried back...

Do you think Boris could persuade him to sign a blank copy of a free trade agreement before he goes anywhere?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 14:19

Apparently they are drawing up draft Impeachment measures now, they feel they have enough evidence.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 14:19

“Do you think Boris could persuade him to sign a blank copy of a free trade agreement before he goes anywhere?”

That, is indeed a big potential concern now. 😬

OP posts:
SingingLily · 05/12/2019 14:21

Nancy Pelosi.

They'd have to be really sure, Epic, because a botched attempt would only give him ammunition and possibly make him even more secure with his supporters.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 14:23

My understanding is, that they can still defemd against the impeachment and win potentially. Should he lose, I don’t think it’s automatically the end of his presidency, I think there may be follow up procedures for that. Not sure though, anyone who knows more than I about US politics please step forward! 😬😂

Actually, I'm of the opposite mind. The support for a UK-US trade agreement in overwhelming in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. It's arguably more likely to be fair without The Donald's involvement.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 05/12/2019 14:24

Crazy world right now... of course Bill was impeached and won didn’t he? Am I correct there? I was in my early teens at the time, so my memory is scant...

Interesting! Good news then, although speed of process may be affected if they are busy with all of this and a forthcoming election.
