Boris Johnson was empty chaired by C4 with a block of ice.

The Conservatives went mental and have threatened to look at C4 broadcast remit.

This is illiberal and anti democratic.

Journalists are supposed to hold power to account on behalf of the public. If MPs don't turn up then they can't be held to account.

They have a duty to show. It's not good enough to avoid scrutiny because it might make you look bad. That's the whole point.

The contempt with which Johnson holds the press and public is reprehensible and you should be concerned whatever your political alligence. It allows corruption to fester without consequence.

And to then threaten C4 because they do their job in line with their responsibility as a broadcaster is alarming.

This is how authoritarian dictators work.

He's really handsome.

Oh dear God.

On second thoughts compared to BoJo .....

The Sturgeon vs Tice spat actually made my evening yesterday. handbags at 10 paces!

derxa · 30/11/2019 20:23

You do realise that none of these party leaders give a fuck about any of you. Really they don't.

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 30/11/2019 20:24

I always think that Richard Tice looks very of the eighties. Think it’s the hair?

squid4 · 30/11/2019 20:24

Corbyn came to our picket line when we were striking junior doctors in 2016. (And warning of everything which... subsequently happened)
So I disagree.

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 30/11/2019 20:26

derxa I would agree with you about all of them except Jeremy Corbyn. I fully believe that man would personally knit me an allotment if I was in need. Nothing you say can convince me otherwise. Grin

tobee · 30/11/2019 20:36

Just had a Tory party advert film come up on Facebook, and I was reminded of those ads the Tories did in 1997 of Blair with devil eyes. Huge outrage/comment at the time. Seems like nothing now in terms of shock.

BigChocFrenzy · 30/11/2019 20:36

I liked John Crace's description a few weeks ago:

"shopping channel 3am graveyard slot presenter Richard Tice" 😂

Richard Tice is an arse, above and beyond the obvious: www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/brexit-party-richard-tice-darroch-18206347

tobee · 30/11/2019 20:39

Just had to google Richard Tice image, as I'm avoiding tv news, and can only say there's no accounting for taste. Shock

BigChocFrenzy · 30/11/2019 20:40

Maybe useful to know for both Corbyn and BJ:

Stefaan De Rynck@StefaanDeRynck

A reminder that state aid expenditure as % of GDP is relatively low in the UK compared to EU average & lower than in France or Germany.

Also, as with so many BXP MEPs/ politicians, a real salt of the earth man of the people:

Mr Tice fits the bill. He is chief executive of Quidnet Capital LLP which manages around £500million of property.

QueenOfThorns · 30/11/2019 20:44

I can see a bit of an older Patrick Swayze about him, but no, not for me thanks.

tobee · 30/11/2019 20:47

Wasn't ever really a Patrick Swayze fan myself

It was fabulous, wasn’t it? If we had her this side of the border, she’d romp home.

Grin Sebastian Payne@SebastianEPayne

Top honesty on this leaflet from the Tory candidate in Gateshead (Labour majority 17,350):

“I don’t have a specific connection to Gateshead but I see that as an advantage."

< useful argument for that BXP candidate with an address in Australia ! >

prettybird · 30/11/2019 21:04

The smaller parties are indeed being squeezed North of the border: that means Labour, LibDems and the Brexit Party Grin

KeithPartridge · 30/11/2019 21:07

Corbyn might have a lot of faults but I do think he is a moral, good man who does care a lot about people. Whereas Johnson strikes me as aggressively ambitious and cruel and who thinks nothing of the suffering people go through.

First London Bridge terror attack victim is named as Cambridge University worker

Jack Merritt, 25, was a course coordinator for prisoner rehabilitation programme Learning Together, which was hosting an event when Usman Khan, 28, launched his attack

The first victim of the London Bridge terror attack has been named as a Cambridge University graduate and rehab worker who was a "champion" for ex-cons.

Jack Merritt, from Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, and a woman were stabbed to death by convicted terrorist Usman Khan in Friday afternoon's rampage in the heart of the capital.

Mr Merritt, 25, was a course leader for the prisoner rehabilitation programme, Learning Together, which had invited Usman, 28, to a conference at Fishmongers' Hall to mark the initiative's fifth year.

The victim's devastated father David paid tribute to him on Twitter, writing: "My son, Jack, who was killed in this attack, would not wish his death to be used as the pretext for more draconian sentences or for detaining people unnecessarily.

"R.I.P. Jack: you were a beautiful spirit who always took the side of the underdog."

Talking about the NHS - my dad had a blood test on Monday which showed he was a bit anaemic. He thought it was simply because they've been drawing a lot of blood from him (which is the treatment for a mild heart condition he has; he doesn't like the idea of the alternative treatment which uses a chemotherapy drug) but the protocol was that he needed a colonoscopy and endoscopy within 2 weeks (and he leaves for SA in just over a week from today anyway)

He was seen today: found a couple of polyps, which they removed, but nothing of concern (a wee bit of diverticulitis which he hadn't even been aware of). So even though, as a former medic himself, he'd thought that the protocol was a bit of overkill (as he thought he knew the reason for his mild anaemia), he acknowledges that they did find a couple of things that needed treatment.

Didn't cost him a penny. He's nearly 83. Can you imagine how much private insurance would cost him? (Actually, he has an idea as his travel insurance is now a fortune - more than the cost of the flights Shock).

One of the reasons why the SNP were so mad about the Westminster "power grab" (which was really to put everything on the table make trade negotiations easier Hmm) is that health is a devolved issue Angry
