Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

You got fruitcake on instead of scones today Lily? I like mine buttered with jam and builders brew on the side please.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 13:57

Right about the other part though - blair policy, totally different to corbyn's ideas.

Actually, it was John Major who came up with that particular wheeze. Tony Blair just grabbed the ball and ran and ran with it.

So no, Arse, you're still a bit wonky on the old facts.

howabout · 29/11/2019 13:58

Now I really want to know Corbyn's ideas for the NHS. Iirc the IFS says the Labour manifesto only has 2 sentences on it, one of which is a nonsense statement pontificating on their wild imaginings about Trump.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 13:59

Ooh, yes, Howabout. Lovely buttered fruitcake with jam plus a builders brew for you and one for me.

Have you ever tried Mary Berry's marmalade cake? Easy peasy to make, full of plump juicy raisins. Delicious. I might whip up a batch tomorrow if you're interested?

howabout · 29/11/2019 14:01

Ta muchly Brew and 1st in the queue for marmalade cake tomorrow. Sounds yum and if it's any good may have to treat DH.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:02

Extra slice on the side, then, for DH. That's easy enough.

Yes, never anything to say about the policies, the lies, the degradation of our political life by Bozo and his crazy gang. That's why I likened it to a religion last night.

You know it's all gone wrong but it would just be too devastating to let go of your belief.

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 14:09

So, in answer to my questions? Lying about nurses hospitals, denigrating single mothers, working class, burka-wearing women etc etc

Couldn't give a toss personally

I'd be concerned if he had a lengthy track record of cosying up to terrorists though 🤷🏻‍♀️

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:10

Welcome home, Dusty! Are you done for the week now? Brew and a slice of fruitcake.

Yes, never anything to say about the policies, the lies, the degradation of our political life by Jezza and his crazy gang. That's why I liken it to a religion.

You know it's all gone wrong but it would just be too devastating to let go of your belief.

Still at work Lily 😩

Just in the middle of a massive skive at the mo 😂😂😂

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:14

Don't let the boss catch you!
Not long now and you'll be home.

The article about the burqa was actually defending their right to wear it Arse. It was published shortly after France prohibited wearing facial veils in public places. I remember reading it, but I must have been one of very few to get to the end; all anyone recalls is that burqas make faces look like letterboxes... which they do.

Tea and fruitcake would be lovely please, Lily, but could mine be left unbuttered?

DustyDiamond · 29/11/2019 14:14

I'm on board for election night marathon btw

Have booked a days leave for the Friday so I can stay up all night!

Hope I'm not crying into my popcorn during the evening though 😳😳😳

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:17

Unbuttered? Of course, Xing, plus a nice ☕️

And a sneaky look at the current Labour campaign strategy...

Arse I notice you are studiously avoiding my invitation to explain JC's policy on the NHS.

As for the other stuff, having done my own research and followed Boris from his days as the darling of HIGNFY I'm more content with my judgement of him than relying on disingenuous soundbite gutter politics.

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 14:19

The article about the burqa was actually defending their right to wear it Arse.

yes I've heard that before but it's hardly the point. The offensive language is the point because, as you've said yourself, that is what people remember and take on

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 29/11/2019 14:21

“So, in answer to my questions? Lying about nurses hospitals, denigrating single mothers, working class, burka-wearing women etc etc”

  1. lying about nurses. Flip side? Lying to those with 14k dividends derived from pensions about tax.

  2. denigrating single mothers? Flip side? Denigrating a female MP and suggesting she should be lynched. (Mcdonnell)

  3. Denigrating Muslim Women in Burkas? Flip side. Writing a cheery prologue in a book that denigrates Jews.

As for who either partly leader is shagging? As long as it is legal and consensual, than I couldn’t give a crap. I’m not planning on shagging either 🤢 , so why would I care?

The point I am trying to make, is that they have All done shit things, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the fact that we have to have a leader of some description. I am choosing on MY key policy issues and the party who most closely aligns with those, as this identity politics crap gets us nowhere.

For me? Those key issues are.

Brexit.
Self ID.
The Economy.

Others will think differently. Ain’t that the beauty of democracy? Private, autonomous choice? Personally I don’t want to live in a world where people think they are in any way sanctioned to force me or others, into justifying our democratic vote.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:22

Howabout, have a heart. Jezza doesn't understand Jezza's policy so it's a little heartless to expect Arse to be able to explain it.

😱 Unless Arse is really Jezza.

After all, has anyone here actually seen them both together in the same room at the same time?

“You know it's all gone wrong but it would just be too devastating to let go of your belief.”

The entitlement of this comment!

GrinGrinGrin

ArseDarkly · 29/11/2019 14:27

So your only defence is attack epic, no real assessment of the Tory policies. Assuming that Bozo is going to be in government it doesn't concern you at all that he lies about pretty much everything, pretty much all the time?

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:28

Do you mean he might be present but not involved? That kind of lying?

OP posts:
howabout · 29/11/2019 14:30

My key issues
Brexit
Restoring social cohesion
Restoring the rights of children and families
Shutting down Indyref one way or the other
Moving away from identity politics and restoring freedom of intellectual thought and expression

I am a Left of centre Labour voter. I voted Labour in 2017. They have moved a long way in the wrong direction on all my key issues since then.

SingingLily · 29/11/2019 14:31

Throw in Self ID and the economy, and I'm with you.
