I'm not promising to be the resident landlady, and I can't even hope to moderate the discussion or offer up great memes etc because I don't know how, but here's opening the next iteration....

First drink is on the house.

all the new young voters I know are going Tory.

And also anecdotally, the same in my village, Epic, especially the ones in blue collar households.

Glastonbury is not a million miles down the road from here and they were all there two years ago, singing "Ohhh Jeremy Corbyn". Now they're in their first jobs and paying tax...

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 11:05

It’s a fascinating thing isn’t it Singing?, I genuinely expected DD and the others I know through her to go Labour or LibDem, due to social pressures and trendy woke politics. This usual approach is historically driven, largely by the typical youth tendency to want to be in control of delivering something new and exciting.

I keep hearing how young people feel their futures are being “ripped away” by brexit, yet the ones I know, are sick of it all and just want it started with this deal. Also they seem content enough that travelling within the EU will require no more than a few different documents/slightly longer customs queue and Erasmus will still exist if we continue to pay into it. EVEN if we no deal and have to continue membership as a non EU member.

SingingLily · 19/11/2019 11:30

Out of education and into the real world of work seems to be the key around here, Epic. They're now mixing with people of all ages and views, a truly diverse world, where wokedom is tolerated but most definitely not shared.

I also wonder how many were tipped over by the nationalisation agenda - particularly broadband - and not just on the grounds of cost. This generation is used to choice, to flicking through multiple offers on-screen and setting their preferences to weed out the options they don't want. How many are used to their parents shopping around for their gas, electricity, television and broadband providers, using consumer power to bargain for the best deal?

Bearbehind · 19/11/2019 11:55

it appears they are not loving corbyn at all and don’t believe in his sweetie shop giveaway.

It’s good to hear that Corbyn’s ridiculous giveaways are being seen for what they are - headline grabbing nonsense

Only the truly deluded would believe giving everyone things for free, when the country is in the shit already, can end well.

He’s gone too far IMO - most sensible people, regardless of their policies persuasions, can see this is lunacy.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 12:14

It get’s better! Labour are now saying they plan on de-listing companies from the LSE, if they don’t meet climate change targets! Companies need to meet these targets, I agree, but fine them heavily instead FFS. Why would you openly risk a market crash/destabilisation in this way? Outrageous financial brinkmanship.

Bearbehind · 19/11/2019 12:20

OMFG - they literally don’t think anything through beyond the headline idea do they?

howabout · 19/11/2019 12:29

Seriously. Shock

Sad thing is average voter Labour are targeting has no idea how the LSE works and will vote on the fluffy sentiment - they are XR supporting Remainers who believe the EU fund our economy and enforce Greenness and all other good things.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 12:29

Nope! It’s all just the guise under which they “tear down capitalism” I guess, because then they can say, we did it, for the people, the environment, the students, the elderly, the NHS, Brenda from Bristol etc...

Ie; shut up proles, this was all for you, we know best. Now off to the gulags with you.

SingingLily · 19/11/2019 12:29

And that's not all.

The Sun says that Jezbollah has said that when he is PM, he is going to launch an "audit" into Britain's colonial past which may involve "hefty reparations" for what happened centuries ago.

Given that my Irish-born maternal grandfather was listed in the 1910 census as a "child pauper" in a Liverpudlian workhouse and turfed out at 14, jobless and homeless, I look forward to receiving my cheque in the post. Along with just about everyone else in the country, for one reason or another...

In the meantime, Bear, here's an article which backs up your argument in The Other Place.

BrendaFromBristol · 19/11/2019 12:33

Did someone mention my name?

Oh no! Not another election! I can't stand anymore...I'm still voting Conservative though.

Be right back on election night WinkGrin

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 12:36

Waves excitedly @BrendaFromBristol!!! Shock

We have our first CELEBRITY comrades!!!! Wine✊🌹✊🌹✊🌹✊

howabout · 19/11/2019 13:03

I have no time whatsoever with illiterate nonsense about reparations. Most of the problems all over the World are caused by rich countries destabilising economies by chucking money at them.

The same can also be said for large parts of the "charity sector" in this country.

Bearbehind · 19/11/2019 13:53

In the meantime, Bear, here's an article which backs up your argument in The Other Place.

Thanks for that article singing. It would be considered satanic in certain quarters 😂 because it does indeed support my argument entirely.

Still, ‘free stuff’ is going to win this for JC

Bearbehind · 19/11/2019 13:55

when he is PM, he is going to launch an "audit" into Britain's colonial past which may involve "hefty reparations" for what happened centuries ago.

Giving more money away.

WTF is he on?

Limer · 19/11/2019 15:06

Not sure how Jeremy can give away endless free stuff if there are no capitalists left to foot the bill. Oh I forgot - the newly nationalised industries will generate unlimited boatloads of lovely cash. Just like they did in the 1970s. Hmm

Great to see Brenda from Bristol on here! Is "That Bigoted Woman" Gillian Duffy waiting in the wings? Don’t be shy, Gillian!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 19/11/2019 17:59

On top of kicking companies out of the stock market, I see Labour have been banging on about banning Billionaires again. Apparently a 100% tax on incomes over £350k.

And still with the giving away of 10% of every company to its workers, more powers to Unions etc...

I really wonder what would be the point in anyone opening a business in the UK if their was a Corbyn utopia.

But looking forward to the debate, popcorn ready, it could be explosive. Come on Boris bring the hulk out, smash em.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 19/11/2019 18:01

Don't forget Google & Amazon are paying for ALL the freebies.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 19/11/2019 18:04

Preparing for the debate...

Corbyn ate a caesar salad, drank some cups of tea and had his stubble trimmed.
Boris was out at a local gym sparring...

2 very different approaches

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 18:06

£350k? As in thousand? Shock

I’m only asking because I can’t honestly believe what I am reading... that’s not billionaires ???

SingingLily · 19/11/2019 18:14

£350k? As in thousand?

Relax, Diane did the sums. There'll be a correction along later. I hope Confused

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 18:25

Well. Someone should tell Danny Dyer, according to ‘some’ he is now the voice of political reason when it comes to labour’s socialist policies.
Grin Hmm

According to google, in 2017 Danny was earning £400k PA for his Eastenders role. Who knows what it is now, plus his new role on ‘the wall’. Along with other earnings through other appearances of course. This should be interesting. 🤔

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 18:28

Maybe Gary will also have to take another generous pay cut. After all, it’s the right thing to do...

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 18:31

Stormzy? Lily Allen? I mean, they must be on more than £350k per year surely?

Champagne socialism under Corbyn should be such fun!! Grin It’s almost worth it, just to see it come home to roost. Grin

Walkingdeadfangirl · 19/11/2019 18:37

£350k? As in thousand? shock

Yes, John McDonnell gave a speech today saying, "maximum salary of about £350,000".

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 19/11/2019 18:41

Ahhh, so public sector CEO’s.

What a darned shame, I was really looking forward to seeing the mouthy slebs eat their words. Still, if it’s the right thing to do, maybe they will self police and volunteer the cut? Grin
