I'm not promising to be the resident landlady, and I can't even hope to moderate the discussion or offer up great memes etc because I don't know how, but here's opening the next iteration....

First drink is on the house.

Not nearly as much as it was for me! WinkGrin

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 12:32

Polls are interesting. Labour's manifesto hasn't resulted in any swing towards them. What's the next move?

Poor Rod!

I hope he has hidden his handbags and gladrags too... Shock

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 12:40

And hidden his expensive whisky in a jar-o.

mummmy2017 · 24/11/2019 12:41

Just read Boris wants to do something about hospital parking.
That would be a great idea.
But don't hospital's make money off carparks, they charge enough to visit a sick person.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 12:42

After all, the first cut is the deepest. Doubt he wants to talk about it though.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 12:47

Sorry, I’ll get my old raincoat.

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 12:50

😂Epic.

Just popping in before RL stuff calls me away to leave two things on the bar:

A double Gin for Bellini, who is getting undeserved stick in The Other Place for being an independent thinker and her own woman, despite explaining her position logically and clearly over and over. And this...

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 12:58

Haha! I do love the newspaper art Epic, keep them coming.

I know, poor Bellini. It’s almost as if the perspective of a half Jewish Woman matters for fuck all. And as for independent thought, well it’s allowed, as long as you think the same. Independently obvs.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 13:25

I just called you Epic, Lily.

I have finally lost my mind... BlushGrin

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 13:29

It's Manifesto Madness syndrome, Epic. It's got to us all Grin

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 13:32

My God, I've just realised the implications ShockShockShock

Any minute now, someone will be along to claim that we are in fact the same poster, engaging in numerous quick-fire name changes.

Second thoughts, nah. No one would be that stupid.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 13:41

Hahaha! Yes! Cue 3 pointless pages of socking accusations! I can hardly contain my excitement! Grin

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 13:50

Mummy agreed, something does need to be done about hospital parking, for sure.

I was recently looking to apply for a band 2 NHS job at my local hospital, but the fact that as a staff member, I would still have had to pay for parking, put a huge dent in its worth for me. I live semi rural, so there are no viable alternative transport options for me. Staff, Inpatients and chronically ill outpatients, should certainly be exempt.

bellinisurge · 24/11/2019 13:52

Thank you, I think, for having a rueful chuckle. As I appear to not fit in either at Westminsterenders current vibe or here generally , I may well resort to the chocolate in my stash😂.
DH and I are planning a Friday 13 December day out followed by an evening with stash wine, stash crisps and the new Grand Tour episode. Dd will probably want the crisps and Grand Tour bit.
Ho fucking hum.

BelleHathor · 24/11/2019 13:53

Conservative manifesto launch at 2pm 😊

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 13:58

You do fit in here Bellini.

Ok, you are against Brexit, but nonetheless we appreciate your viewpoint, respect your position and also understand the difficult position you find yourself in. You are always welcome here. GinSmile

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 14:00

Thanks Belle... just tuned in!

bellinisurge · 24/11/2019 14:07

I could certainly do with a drink 😂

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 14:10

Thank you, I think, for having a rueful chuckle.

I was being quite genuine, Bellini. You and I have differing views on some things but I respect your principled stance and thought you were getting an unfair time of it. And you know, sometimes you do make me stop and think, so that's not a bad thing Smile

bellinisurge · 24/11/2019 14:11

Thank you @SingingLily

mummmy2017 · 24/11/2019 14:21

Bellinisurge in all the years we have crossed swords, never have I thought you were anything but passionate about your views.

howabout · 24/11/2019 14:56

Properly stripped down manifesto from Boris as per The Arms recommendation. Star

Reinstating nursing bursary makes sense, popular and costless as nurses don't tend to earn enough to pay off student debt. Star

No mention of raising higher rate tax threshold. Star

Cue journos all scratching their heads to find something to attack.

bellini seriously considering playing hooky with DD3 on the 13th since her school is a polling station on the 12th and they are spending the 13th administering flu sniff - specific health issues means she doesn't get it and is best off avoiding a school full of pupils shedding it.

If I stay up late enough for the Election coverage she'll probably end up with a day of CBBC and TV snacks. Blush

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 14:59

Just finished watching Boris at the manifesto launch. I'm glad he clarified about the hospital parking fees. I took my Dad to and from hospital several times a week when he was being treated for cancer and I'm fairly sure I am now the lawful owner of the car park. It was £6 a time.

Delighted about the nurses' bursaries being restored. Our GP surgery would be sunk without their fantastic nurses.

Boris stuttered over the fact-checking Twitter account though. He must have known that question was coming and CCHQ should have squashed that particular idea at birth. It was stupid.

Ed Conway made the point that for every £ promised in this manifesto through to 2023/2024, Labour promised £28. Shock And that's without the WASPI compensation promise.

howabout · 24/11/2019 15:11

Singing I couldn't drive and ended up using taxis to and from hospital when I broke my leg. If I had lived further away NHS would have needed to provide hospital transport as I don't have a back up driver.

NHS must save a fortune from relatives ferrying around patients and so charging parking on top of that is an insult. Car parking is already free in Scotland (I think all now phased out where had been introduced).

That said our hospital is walking distance to the town centre so the car park needs better policing to make sure all those using it are actually at work or visiting. It is always over flowing during the day.
