GE is on! Remainers how will you vote?

Just that really! The General Election is on, either 11th Dec or a few days before but it's going to happen now that Labour have agreed. Tactical voting websites are being prepared as we speak.

If you are a remainer, who will you vote for?

(And if any leavers lurk here, will you vote for Tories or Brexit party?)

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 29/10/2019 12:30

Remainder, previously a Labour voter.

I'll be voting Lib Dem (DH also in the same position).

GooseFeather · 29/10/2019 12:31

Our former Tory MP in a massively safe Tory seat defected to LibDems, but is not standing here again, no idea who the Tories have selected to replace him. And I will never vote Tory again while they lurch to the right and think only about the super wealthy.

Can't bring myself to vote Labour. Leaving Brexit aside, where who knows what their policy is, my politics are not aligned to the hard left which is where they are heading.

Our new LibDem candidate is a phenomenal man - former refugee from Iran and now a human rights lawyer and a lovely, lovely man. He genuinely cares about people, so I hope would be a good constituency MP, but is brand new to politics. They are the only ones trying to cover the centre ground, even if they don't get it right all the time.

Stationeryqueen · 29/10/2019 12:32

Complicated really - Current MP Standing down at this election, but Labour won by just 30 votes in our Constituency, with LibDems 20,000 votes behind, no green representation.

I may tactically vote Lab, though really I want to vote LibDem as a staunch remainer. All of the parties have massive faults and feel like its a choice of the lesser of many evils & anything but Boris

MustardScreams · 29/10/2019 12:32

Labour support a confirmatory referendum. That will make up part of their manifesto. Corbyn has been quite clear on that fact for ages now.

Twooter · 29/10/2019 12:33

I would have thought that libdems are a natural home for previous Tory remainers , more so than Labour.

the libdems will never get a better chance.
( although I really dislike jo swinson)

Lwmommy · 29/10/2019 12:33

@LavendarGreen sorry, I prefer to pretend the Brexit party don't exist so missed them off. I truly, hope people won't vote for them.

I am scared that they will, but think the likelihood of Brexit party getting a majority is slim, although I think they'll gain some seats.

I did mention a worry that there would be a Tory- Brexit party coalition which would be my worst nightmare. BoJo says it's not in the cards, but so far he's recanted on everything he's ever said so that offers no assurance.

FantailsFly · 29/10/2019 12:33

Labour leaver in marginal Tory seat. Was thinking LD because Labour has been so dire over Brexit. But now LD may well have handed us a hard Tory Brexit (if polls are to be believed) ... I don’t know. Anyone but Tory so I’ll vote tactically.

themueslicamel · 29/10/2019 12:34

Tory.

Leaver.

LavendarGreen · 29/10/2019 12:35

@Lwmommy

LOL. Grin Fair enough. Smile

Seriously though, they could get a LOT of votes.

Worrying eh? Sad

Bimbleberries · 29/10/2019 12:35

lib dem I expect.

There are lots of things i don't like about several parties - whether it's Corbyn or the stance on women's issues, or whatever else - but I think stopping Brexit is the most important things for now, as that's a decision that will affect us for decades, whereas any other parliament we can get rid of before long. I'll put up with the bits I don't like for the short term in the hopes that Brexit will be solved, and then we can get back to the details of other policies.

Dusty01 · 29/10/2019 12:35

"I can’t see why remainders would vote for anyone except libdem.'

Because our vote is not just about Brexit? I don't trust the Libdems either. I quite like Jo Swinson, but don't know what else they stand for other than a People's vote. Yes, JC is a bit too far left (not for me) for many people -but I agree with what Labour stand for and that is why I'd vote for them.

MoltoAgitato · 29/10/2019 12:36

Lib Dem. Heidi Allen was our MP but has announced she won’t stand...

StarGOLD · 29/10/2019 12:37

Leave. Conservative voter, just want this whole mess under control and done so we can move onto daily business. Appallingly undemocratic behaviour from our Parliament. I used to vote LibDem (back in the day) but never again. Almost don't want to vote but I've got to keep Labour out..nonsense PC policies and antisemiticsm.

Dusty01 · 29/10/2019 12:38

And yes - I think that LD may well be handing Boris a hard Brexit through this. It's made me trust them less.

DioneTheDiabolist · 29/10/2019 12:39

I'm in a Sinn Fein safe seat but I never let that stop me voting. I think I'll go with Alliance as People Before Profit are Leavers.

littlemissmuffins · 29/10/2019 12:41

Remainer here. I'm also a carer and juggling that with working part time. Austerity, in particular the freeze, has had such a serious negative impact on mine and my families lives and wellbeing. Seriously considering cancelling Christmas this year, and it's not just Christmas, it's year round grind of robbing Peter to (not always be able to) pay paul. Since the Tories really ramped up austerity, and it's not over, despite what they say, their policies show that.

So although brexit is an issue of importance for me - I want to remain - austerity is a much bigger issue for me.

I'm usually a floating voter on policies. Can anyone advise me who to vote for tactically to get rid of the tories??

funnyfeeling · 29/10/2019 12:42

SNP. I've been considering voting otherwise for a while but I don't think now is the time.
The whole thing is just making me feel quite low, there used to be at least a little bit of hope when voting.

Seahorseshoe · 29/10/2019 12:45

Remainer - but I'm voting for Boris.

I'm more upset that Brexit has been thwarted than the actual referendum vote itself. Boris is trying to push it through.

The referendum result was a shock - obviously, lessons needed to be learned from it - that has not happened. They've learned nothing.

I'm upset that a democratic vote has been hijacked and prevented and the wider implications of it.

I'm upset watching the debates in the HoC - they just don't get it. It has become about individuals and party politics, not about the big picture.

Brexit has damaged our democracy - no, actually, our politicians have.

Fed up with the lot of it.

Corbyn should never, ever be given the keys to Number 10. Labour need to replace him. He will run this country into the ground.

Herja · 29/10/2019 12:45

I think I'm going to spoil my ballot. I have ideological issues with green and lib dem, I have spoken at length to my current labour mp (who I have previously always voted for), and find us to be diametrically opposed on self id and women's rights. I will never vote for the tories. Maybe the tusc, who often stand here, but I will need to find out their views on who is a woman.

Brexit will be a shit storm whatever happens, so I will stick with my conscience and vote as left as I can, and for someone who acknowledges women. If that is a spoilt ballot then so be it.

crankyassnoperope · 29/10/2019 12:46

@MustardScreams you're in the same constituency as me!! Don't worry, I'll be voting Labour too, and yes she is wonderful Smile Wine Star

Katharinblum · 29/10/2019 12:50

Remainer here in solid northern leave town. Marginal Tory seat (traditionally labour) and first Tory dominated council in 40 years, ironic because we’ve been very hard hit by austerity, minimal investment. Friends who visit are genuinely shocked by its decline. I think Brexit party will do well but we’ve seen a few ultra local parties come into being which won quite a few council seats earlier in the year. Don’t like Corbyn but Lib Dem’s have no chance so it’ll probably be labour for me. Tbh I want the tories to own this brexit mess so rather it damage them than labour or Lib Dem’s.

BeaBravo · 29/10/2019 12:51

I'll vote Labour - though my vote won't count.
I live in an unassailable Tory seat. I'd vote LibDem (very reluctantly) if there was a tactical reason.

GaraMedouar · 29/10/2019 12:53

Probably Lib Dem.

BeaBravo · 29/10/2019 12:54

usually a Labour voter but can't vote for them, Greens or Lib Dems while those parties are spouting trans women are women bollocks

@katiegoestoaldi - I know, I know. I want the Tories out and then we can talk some sense into the misguided woke brigade.

user1471448556 · 29/10/2019 12:55

Will vote tactically for the candidate most likely to beat the Brexity Tory in my constituency.
