GE is on! Remainers how will you vote?

Just that really! The General Election is on, either 11th Dec or a few days before but it's going to happen now that Labour have agreed. Tactical voting websites are being prepared as we speak.

If you are a remainer, who will you vote for?

(And if any leavers lurk here, will you vote for Tories or Brexit party?)

Don't forget LabourList -

"Labour agrees to abolish private schools in next manifesto"

"In the latest radical policy move to come from Labour’s annual conference, the party has agreed to include the policy of abolishing private schools in its next manifesto."

"The motion put forward by the Labour Against Private Schools campaign and backed by Momentum commits Labour to integrating private schools into the state sector."

"In her speech to conference, Rayner promised to close tax loopholes and instruct a new commission to “work on making the whole education system fairer through the integration of private schools."

"Holly Rigby, a spokesperson for Abolish Eton, said: “We are delighted that Labour has committed to integrating all private schools into the state sector and that it will feature in the next manifesto."

"This huge leap forward is a testament to the hard work of grassroots Labour members and the ambition and determination of Angela Rayner and John McDonnell. They have worked with and listened to members every step of the way, writing this policy hand in hand with the movement."

no I’m a midwife. There’s no need to generalise. I know teachers, doctors and a police officer who will all be voting conservative as well. Our political opinions aren’t based solely on our jobs you know

I'm an A&E doctor - I have absolutely no words to that.

clutchingon · 02/11/2019 15:39

I'm voting conservative. My local mp is labour (Darren Jones) and excellent for local causes. I wish he would go indi as I can't bring myself to vote for him and by proxy Corbyn. As much as many are tactically voting to keep the tories out many will be doing the same to prevent Corbyn making it to no 10.

Meshy23 · 02/11/2019 15:40

Staunch remainder in London

But can’t face the prospect of Corbyn

Lib Dem

Trustmeimamidwife · 02/11/2019 15:41

@squid4 there’s no way you work solely with people who don’t vote conservative. The NHS isn't full of people who hate the conservatives you know?
In the staff room at my work, it seems to be 75% Tory support whenever we’ve discussed politics.

squid4 · 02/11/2019 15:54

This is not a tory area (at all), so you'd probably struggle to find many tory voters anyway, but no. I have never met anyone who works in a hospital who would vote conservative. So many of my colleagues have quit in recent years. I am stunned at what you say. It must be so different where you are. Wow. That really does seem to be an act of self harm.

iwoulddoanything · 02/11/2019 15:59

Stuck between Labour and SNP. Our SNP candidate always gets back in and Labour always come last here.

ListeningQuietly · 02/11/2019 16:21

Brexit impacts the lower levels of the pyramid.
SelfID the upper
Without the lower, the upper is irrelevant

Hence I will vote to reduce the impact of Brexit
then
I will fight for women's rights against the misogyny of selfID

GE is on! Remainers how will you vote?
Loletta · 02/11/2019 19:38

I’m a remainer technically as I voted remain previously. However I truly believe the leave result should be implemented so I’m voting Tory

I really struggle to understand or believe this point of view. I hear people of radio phone ins say this but just can't comprehend how if you wanted to remain, you now would like to implement the result of such a crooked vote. Plus do you not understand that passinng the WA is only the first stage and we're going to have years of this shot to come? Really? Tell me you wouldn't rather revoke and go back to worrying about stuff that actually needs to be changed in this country. Just can't possibly believe the naivety of the "I just want out" brigade.

Trustmeimamidwife · 02/11/2019 19:51

@Loletta no, we were told time and time again that whoever won would have the result implemented. I voted based on that promise. My view wasn’t the winning result but there’s absolutely no way I’d want to overturn the leave result. I find it interesting that you find that hard to believe when the majority of remainers that I know actually share the same view as me

ListeningQuietly · 02/11/2019 19:57

Trust
there’s absolutely no way I’d want to overturn the leave result
So which version of Leave did you vote for ?
EFTA
WTO
SM/CU
as one of them was explicitly ruled out during the campaign by the Leave groups ....

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 02/11/2019 20:06

I find it interesting that you find that hard to believe when the majority of remainers that I know actually share the same view as me

I always find this sort of stuff interesting as the majority of remainers i know...would vote remain agin

Alsohuman · 02/11/2019 20:07

the majority of remainers that I know actually share the same view as me

I don’t know anyone who voted leave and I don’t know anyone who shares that view.

Trewser · 02/11/2019 20:11

I think you are really naive! Loads of people voted Remain, not through any great love of the EU, but because they were happy with the status quo. Now that has changed those same voters now think Ok we'll leave with a deal.

I voted Remain and will vote lib dem but I totally understand their point of view.

Alsohuman · 02/11/2019 20:31

Why is having a different experience naive @Trewser?

Kez200 · 02/11/2019 20:33

Tory area but MP is completely useless and I have never voted for her anyway.

Labour comes nowhere.

Ill be voting LibDem as a Green vote woyld be a waste

Kez200 · 02/11/2019 20:36

Im a remainer who would accept a decent deal, as promised. That doesnt seem possible so revoke is fine by me too.

So my preference for the election is LibDem then Labour then Hung Parliament. Dont suppose Ill get what I want though.

Trustmeimamidwife · 02/11/2019 21:29

@ListeningQuietly I didn’t vote leave. I voted remain.

Mistigri · 02/11/2019 21:44

I really struggle to understand or believe this point of view.

Opinion polls suggest that there are some "leaver nows" but I have yet to come across one on social media who was not telling porkies.

Trewser · 02/11/2019 22:05

but I have yet to come across one on social media who was not telling porkies

How on earth do you know?

Janaih · 02/11/2019 22:12

I voted remain and will do anything possible to make that happen.

ListeningQuietly · 02/11/2019 22:18

Trustme
If you voted remain
and have comprehended the fact that if the vote had been binding it would have had to be re re run
why on EARTH would you "respect" the result?

OVienna · 02/11/2019 22:26

Tory. I can't believe it but there is no way I can vote otherwise in my constituency and potentially contribute to JC in office. They've never convinced me they won't go for Brexit after all and the last conference was a complete disaster if policies.

ListeningQuietly · 02/11/2019 22:35

Ovienna
Do you think the Tories will deliver Brexit?
Do you think they will deliver prosperity for you and yours?
Do you think they will make society resilient?

Which manifesto policies of Labour do you dislike ?
remember, conference resolutions are like ERG kite flying : hot air

Peregrina · 03/11/2019 07:26

there’s absolutely no way I’d want to overturn the leave result

Now if you were one who believed that there really would be £350 million a week for the NHS I would think that a valid reason for wanting to implement a Leave result. But there isn't and won't be that money, despite what Johnson, a known liar, has promised to try to win a few votes.

As a Remainer, I am voting LibDem, but we have a LibDem MP and I want to keep her.
