GE is on! Remainers how will you vote?

Just that really! The General Election is on, either 11th Dec or a few days before but it's going to happen now that Labour have agreed. Tactical voting websites are being prepared as we speak.

If you are a remainer, who will you vote for?

(And if any leavers lurk here, will you vote for Tories or Brexit party?)

I won't be voting Conservative in this election.

And I'm furious with Labour, who I have always voted for and who should be fucking walking this election after what the Tories have been playing at, for making me have huge reservations about voting for them either.

KissCurls · 30/10/2019 15:08

But please spare us the faux concern for how much self-ID will hurt poor women when you're planning to vote for a party whose "Brexit Deal" will cost the country billions and represents a massive threat to all our most important rights and protections. Ask a "poor woman" whether they'd sooner have a functioning NHS or the removal of a one in a million chance that a man might enter a woman's toilet while she's actually using it

I agree with you in principle (about the awfulness of the Tories) but I don't think it's right to be so reductionist about an issue that is of such concern for many women. It's a big deal and I for one am glad to see it being factored into people's decision making

Thiswayorthatway · 30/10/2019 15:12

Remainer. Lib Dem.

Prynhawn · 30/10/2019 15:16

Conservative

satanstoenailsandwich · 30/10/2019 15:17

I do not understand how anyone can vote Tory after what they've done to the country, unless they are very rich or very stupid Confused

CendrillonSings · 30/10/2019 15:21

Or don't want a band of loony socialists to rob them blind...

WarwickLife · 30/10/2019 15:30

@Trewser ah well you won't be a fan of their ideas about holding private schools to account or making them taxes I imagine. (Let alone abolishing them). You sound more like a natural Tory and my plea wasn't aimed at them.

@PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind as opposed to Johnson, Cummings and friends? I'm afraid the morality and integrity elevator left that floor years ago.

Yes, that's a fair comment. I was just a bit cynical about people suddenly discovering such a "concern" for poor women they're happy to vote for policies which will have a far more detrimental impact on them than any amount of self-ID could ever do. But it was a flippant comment to make, I can see that.

WarwickLife · 30/10/2019 15:32

Exactly @prettybird we have to be pragmatic here

Trewser · 30/10/2019 15:35

I actually don't hugely disagree with Vat on fees. I don't want them abolished though as my dcs rather like their school. So I'd be a fool to vote for a party who makes it quite clear they are happy to weaponise my children's education. I always voted Labour in the past when they were more centrist. Ideally for me, we'd have a one nation Tory party.

KissCurls · 30/10/2019 15:35

@HPFA Smile I do agree with your wider point though

WarwickLife · 30/10/2019 15:36

*If you're going to vote Conservative then do so, it's not my choice but you have the absolute right to make it.

^^ yes

And above all, this:

I do not understand how anyone can vote Tory after what they've done to the country, unless they are very rich or very stupid

I haven't just discovered a concern and I don't agree with you that its unimportant. It is very important to me, my dds and my gds.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 15:39

I would find it really depressing not to be able to understand other people's point of view. I'm neither very rich or at all stupid.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 15:46

Also - this thread: "please don't let one silly policy which probably won't happen stop you voting Labour!"
Me "I feel strongly about this and also this"
Thread: "you must be stupid"

Hmm
Janaih · 30/10/2019 15:55

remainer here, will be voting lib dem. I'm still pissed off with the tuition fees and other stuff but it's the only remain option. (and also the only realistic chance in my strong Tory constituency 😑)

4cats2kids · 30/10/2019 15:59

I will be keeping an eye on the tactical voting sites and will vote for the party most likely to oust the current conservative mp.

birdsdestiny · 30/10/2019 16:15

Suddenly developing a concern for women.
Do people realise how they sound.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 16:17

I have not suddenly developed a concern for women. I've been writing to mps about it for some time now. My lib dem MP tried to make me feel like a bigot. So now I have a chance to reply by not voting for him.

KissCurls · 30/10/2019 16:21

I understand where you're coming from @Trewser - your position makes sense to me

HandsOffMyRights · 30/10/2019 16:26

I hear you too Trewser.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 16:26

Thanks.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 30/10/2019 16:32

I also really hate this idea that anyone who has huge concerns about JC and Labour in its current form has been hoodwinked by the 'right wing press'.

As if we are too stupid to be able to form a decision by ourselves.

It's that kind of attitude which got us into this Brexit mess in the first place.
