I thought we might appreciate a separate thread for organising meet ups and info :)

I am short of time at the moment, so support in gathering info and linking people together is very much appreciated.

It looks like Parliament (according to a Laura K tweet) will be having a special meeting on that day, even though it's a Saturday, so all the more reason to come along and let them know that we reject the situation and that we especially reject a No Deal Brexit.

Sounds like a stupid question but as for food will coffee shops etc on the route be open? Will I at least be able to grab a packet of biscuits from a corner shop?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/10/2019 21:41

I'm not sure about corner shops, but coffee shops have been open when I've been past. There should be plenty of places for snacks.

The weather is still looking damp, but plenty of time for that to change.

Well if I can duck into a Pret for a sarnie then it’ll be ok.

lonelyplanetmum · 13/10/2019 21:47

Something simple instead of banners is blue and yellow balloons. They're not great environmentally but you can give them away to children or pop them so don't have to transport them home?

BrokenBrit · 13/10/2019 21:55

Any tips for a first time London marcher with a disability?
Is it best to go to Trafalgar square?
Let’s hope for a great turnout and positive day.

I was at the March march with DH and DC (then 3 and 1) - we joined at Trafalgar Square and walked down to Parliament Square, then headed off via South Bank as it was starting to get very crowded (and the DC had had enough!)

It was such an incredible experience and felt so safe and friendly, and we were easily able to duck out when we needed to. We felt it was so important that whatever happens, we could tell our DC that we (and they!) turned out to make our voices heard.

We can’t wait to come on Saturday (DC are now 2 and 4!) - we’re going to pop into the Transport Museum in the morning to get the DC in a good mood, then hop skip and jump it over to Trafalgar Square and join from there. Will be looking out for red toothrbrushes!

BlackeyedGruesome · 14/10/2019 09:26

Good luck.

VallarMorghulis · 14/10/2019 10:27

@grannycake try park on my drive https://www.parkonmydrive.com/ or similar, it's cheap and convenient

VallarMorghulis · 14/10/2019 10:27

I see someone has already suggested park on my drive, sorry!

We went on the March March, but can't attend (as a family) this time because we have a bunch of personal stuff going on. I was a bit tempted to go by myself but am quite terrible at being alone amongst strangers - and it's a hell of a long coach trip from Leeds. So I think we will be donating towards ticket subsidies instead, and cheering everybody else on.

CowlsAgainstBrexit · 14/10/2019 17:17

I'll be there on Saturday, too. By the way, if any knitters want a free pattern for a (blue with yellow stars) cowl, PM me and I'll send you a link. I know time is short but it's a quick and easy knit. (Have name-changed for this but am a regular.)

CrepuscularCritter · 14/10/2019 19:25

Just booked our coach tickets, as whatever the outcome, at least we are doing something. I'll be keeping my eyes open for red toothbrushes.

GingerPCatt · 14/10/2019 21:15

Any crafty marchers? thetwistedyarn.com/2019/10/14/cowls-against-brexit/

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/10/2019 21:50

Nice pattern!

I fear it would be just a thin necklace if I started at this point!

I don't often post on the Brexit threads as I feel I have little useful to add other than outrage and anger - but I did post from the March march.
DH and I are travelling from Manchester again (arriving noon ish) and will prob do what we did last time ... walk from Euston and join at Trafalgar Square about 1pm, then to Parliament Square for the speeches.
I'm really glad we're going and it's fortunately (??) fallen on a really important day in Parliament.

Has anyone heard who the speakers are? Last time my favourites were David Lammy, Nicola Sturgeon and Tom Watson but all the others were fab too.
Guess many will have to be inside the House of Commons now...

JellyfishAndShells · 14/10/2019 23:11

Police have started clearing the Extinction Rebellion groups out of Trafalgar Square this evening ( after the events in the City of London today ) Your chances of meeting up in a Trafalgar Square with them still there would have been very tricky.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/10/2019 07:33

Well done Lucy!

I believe that XR and the People's Vote have been talking to make sure that our march can go ahead without causing any challenges, but even if they are around, I'm sure that we can all work together :) it doesn't really matter where we end up in Central London as long as we fill the streets.

JellyfishAndShells · 15/10/2019 07:59

I’m not saying that ER would have been uncooperative or unpleasant in any way with you, it’s just that physically they sprawled out ( tents and other structures, not just people) across the square and the roads surrounding and another mass of people would have been tricky to assemble or move around ( have been dodging around them for the past week) Anyway, past the point now as they have been removed .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/10/2019 08:59

It would have been a little challenging Grin

Great thanks @OhYouBadBadKitten

Not long to go now!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/10/2019 14:20

no - it will be good to be out on the streets again.

ListeningQuietly · 15/10/2019 15:12

All the more reason to shout extra loud
Fill every street
Even the BBC now admits there were more and 1,000,000 of us in the spring
This needs to be the biggest yet
