I thought we might appreciate a separate thread for organising meet ups and info :)

I am short of time at the moment, so support in gathering info and linking people together is very much appreciated.

It looks like Parliament (according to a Laura K tweet) will be having a special meeting on that day, even though it's a Saturday, so all the more reason to come along and let them know that we reject the situation and that we especially reject a No Deal Brexit.

Umbrella man

Hope you are hedging your bets with brexit umbrellas.

And haven’t a fucking clue ones as well.

Coming all the way from south manchester for my first ever proper protest!! With my parents in their early 70s.

Have a couple of questions
What's best to make placards out of? Especially the "stick" part.

I saw from the pics that lots of people had "official" people's vote placards last time- were they selling/giving these out? Might be easier than making and carrying on the train.

Will tubes be running normally albeit busy? Am planning to tube it to green park about 11.30 to meet my mate and I know that sometimes when it's really busy in London they just close stationers.

I dithered about going last time but left it too late. Am very pleased have made the right decision this time.

Sticky back plastic your placard!

garden cane makes a good stick and is light too.

whistles are good for making extra noise.

I really want to come. I've been on the last two, but can't face going on my own (as I did last time) Sad

Frazzled2207 · 12/10/2019 20:55

Fab thanks for that we have some garden canes

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/10/2019 09:05

can we start linking up people who are setting off on their own and want company? Last time it worked well :)

Travelling up Friday night and staying with/going with family so won’t arrange any meet ups - but will have my trusty red tooth brush (generally stuck in hair with EU flag).
This March will be epic and historic. Like a pp said, if one can be there one must be there. Love and solidarity to all.

colouringinpro · 13/10/2019 10:35

Yes please oybbk

MetallicHighlights · 13/10/2019 16:34

Anyone else arriving at Kings Cross at/around 11.58?

1066vegan · 13/10/2019 16:47

For those asking about toilets, there's a really useful free app called Where Is Public Toilet.

1066vegan · 13/10/2019 16:49

Latest weather forecast for London is rain most of the week but a good chance of being dry on Saturday.

Peregrina · 13/10/2019 18:05

Now the BBC are admitting that there were 1 million on march in March, instead of pretending it was only 40 000 or so.

ListeningQuietly · 13/10/2019 18:49

peregrina
Funny that .....
Next Saturday is going to be something else
I hope that Extinction Rebellion allow other people into Whitehall
but I do rather look forward to seeing their "red army"

PancakeAndKeith · 13/10/2019 18:54

I’m going on an organised coach from my home town.

Do any veteran marchers have any advice?

KennDodd · 13/10/2019 19:05

Do any veteran marchers have any advice?

Trainers
Small backpack
Sandwiches
Try not to drink too much so you don't need the toilet
Ask in advance if you can leave stuff on the coach (you should be able to) depending on how far you've come you might want to leave a blanket on the coach.

There's always been a really good atmosphere in the past.

Inthenewsagain · 13/10/2019 19:26

Bring warm clothing, I know that sounds obvious but you shuffle at best and could well be there for hours on end. Gloves and a hat 😊

TheNorthWestPawsage · 13/10/2019 19:27

If there are as many people as last time and you don’t want to spend a long time in the crowd waiting to start then join the route further along once the march has started to make its way down Piccadilly. If you particularly want to get into Parliament Square then last time it made sense to join in near the front once the march had set off. This time with Parliament sitting and the Extinction Rebellion also being active it might be more difficult getting close to Westminster. Last time it was relatively easy to leave and rejoin after taking a break.

Peregrina · 13/10/2019 19:29

Comfortable shoes!

PancakeAndKeith · 13/10/2019 19:30

The journey is only about an hour so that’s ok.
Bloody coach leaves at 7.30am though!!

ListeningQuietly · 13/10/2019 19:35

I've just booked my train tickets.
Looking forward to it.
My red toothbrushes (as I'm carrying an extra for Mistigri who is stuck in France)
will be in my hair clip Grin

zen1 · 13/10/2019 19:37

So is the march due to set of at 12.00 from Trafalgar Square (I got there late last time and joined two hrs in)?

zen1 · 13/10/2019 19:38

Also, I’m useless at making banners - can anyone think of something simple I could do?

1066vegan · 13/10/2019 19:40

There's an article in the Guardian (don't know how to do links on my phone) saying that there are talks going on and although Extinction Rebellion are currently camping in Parliament Square they'll probably make way for the People's March.

ListeningQuietly · 13/10/2019 19:44

"march"
more of a mahoosive"gathering" that will stretch from Victoria to Marbel Arch and everywhere in between.
In March it was "technically" Hyde Park Corner to Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square
but in reality is was every main street and side street and park and open space in that part of London, shuffling, dancing, ambling along
and most excellent it was too

1,000,000 people is quite a sight to behold

Peregrina · 13/10/2019 21:24

Last time we set off from Marble Arch at 1:20, and finally got to Parliament square at 4:45, and it was only because we speeded up at the end because people were leaving and it wasn't as crowded. We sat down to have a rest for half an hour and people were still arriving.
