I thought we might appreciate a separate thread for organising meet ups and info :)

I am short of time at the moment, so support in gathering info and linking people together is very much appreciated.

It looks like Parliament (according to a Laura K tweet) will be having a special meeting on that day, even though it's a Saturday, so all the more reason to come along and let them know that we reject the situation and that we especially reject a No Deal Brexit.

Sorry, didn’t intend duplicate posts Blush

The march starts at 12 but I won’t be able to get to London til after 3. Will the March still be on then? How long will it take for everyone to walk along the route?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/10/2019 22:03

It will definitely still be on. I can't remember last time it was a big one, but it took hours. You can always go further along the route.

I'll be there again! Also concerned this time there may be trouble, going to keep more alert than before. So sad.

I'm also torn re PV - so scared that we will risk another MP murder if it were to go ahead and god forbid remain won. I'm really going so that the EU and the world know that many of us don't want this under any circumstances.

Stay safe everyone 😊

It was still going at dusk the last two times, obviously the speeches were over but so many marchers carried on down to Parliament Sq for hours afterwards. It takes hours, bring food and water 😊

Icantreachthepretzels · 09/10/2019 22:08

If it's as big as the march in March - the back of the march (too many marches in this sentence) won't have even set off by 3!

raisinseverywhere · 09/10/2019 22:10

Thanks, I will definitely be there.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/10/2019 22:18

There's going to be so many of us that I think we will be fine again.

Thanks. I think that despite my misgivings re PV, it's important to be there.

Sandsnake · 10/10/2019 08:38

May I ask a silly question? I’ve not been to a PV march before so feel unable to make my own judgment. I’ll be 24 weeks pregnant at time of the march - do you think it’s wise coming? My main concerns are disorder / jostling that might hurt the bump and also (more trivially!) the fact that I have to pee about every 30 minutes at the moment so would need access to loos. I’d also likely have a three year old with me.

Would really appreciate advice from those who’ve been before as to whether it would be a good idea / viable for me to come. Whilst I feel very strongly about what’s happening I obviously wouldn’t want to do anything stupid. Thanks!

Mistigri · 10/10/2019 09:50

Sandsnake, you should be able to join the head of the march at Trafalgar Sq.

At the head of the march based on last time it will not be crammed at all. Fine for disabled marchers/ the very young or old/ pregnant women.

TiddleToddle · 10/10/2019 10:05

We did what Misti suggests last time. The march wasn't crushed at all and we were in a group consisting of babies in buggies, young children, elderly people and people with disabilities. It was very friendly and unhurried. There are nice clean loos in the national gallery.

TiddleToddle · 10/10/2019 10:05

Sorry - that was to sandsnake

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/10/2019 11:00

I'll pop up a map of toilets later unless someone beats me to it.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/10/2019 11:07

I wish we could share photos via pm. I've learned of a couple of useful hidden toilets but I don't want to post them publicly in case they get closed to the public. If you are some one who really really needs to know where there may be spare loos (not used them in a big demo so don't know how resilient they are) send me a pm.

@Sandsnake

Leave late and aim to pick up the march at Trafalgar Square at about 2-3pm. Your children will read about this day in their history books and be able to say 'I was there'.

KennDodd · 10/10/2019 11:20

@DarkAtTheEndOfUk

And to anyone else who wants to go but can't afford to. Please contact your local 'for Europe ' group (you'll find them on social media) they can arrange free lifts and donated coach tickets, don't let lack of money stop you going. Also, if you have the spare money, please donate to your local 'for Europe' group so they can fund free lifts.

ListeningQuietly · 10/10/2019 12:46

Sandsnake
In March there were people with dogs, people with buggies, people with wheelchairs.
You can dip in and out of the route at any time
(we popped into St James park to feed the ducks for a bit)

Inthenewsagain · 10/10/2019 13:47

I would caution slightly though, pretty much all the loos in the restaurants and cafes directly en route were locked by late afternoon. Definitely pm Kitten if you think that might cause problems x

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/10/2019 14:26

I found this map (which doesn't have the loos I've found) www.toiletmap.org.uk/loos/43933df0620342b976c6112a

Thanks so much for all the advice - really appreciate it. And for the toilet map Kitten! Really helpful Smile

When making placards I'd consider how you can protect them from the rain. The forecast is looking a bit wet at the moment. It won't stop any of us I'm sure! It's too important for a bit of rain to see us off.

We will be there (me, dh & our 2 dc). Plus my parents and have a few other friends / family who have expressed an interest, hoping we can get them along.

A little worried emotions will be running higher than last time but feel very much we need to be counted.
