Is anyone here marching on October 19th and if so, why?

I voted Remain and am devastated at the idea of leaving the EU, especially if we leave without a deal. However I am not persuaded by the idea of a Peoples Vote or second referendum.

i don't think the first referendum shoul ever hav happened. The general public - and i include myself in this - don't understand enough about the issues to make an informed decision. So i can't think that another vote is a good idea.

I went to the march in March because I am on the front line of Brexit (Briton in Europe) and I have no other way to make my voice heard because I am completely disenfranchised. I hope to attend the march on the 18th.

As it happens I am not personally in favour of another referendum - but the People's Vote organisation has been the most effective remain campaign when it comes to public opposition to Brexit. They have given millions of people a way of expressing their opposition to Brexit (or to the way Brexit is being done) and I for one am happy to put aside minor differences of opinion to support a common cause.

Thank you @mistigri I really feel.for people in your situation. I still don't see the benefit of a second referendum but I do understand wanting to Express opposition to the current situation.

My experience in March was that the vast majority of people were marching against Brexit and in favour of EU membership generally, but not specifically for a new referendum.

Like others I'll go to protest at this huge mess and the outrageous sums of money the govt have squandered by refusing to rule out no-deal. I want to show that 'the people' do not support this shit-show.
It's not really about the second referendum for me, though I do think presenting choices that can be implemented is more responsible than what happened last time.

Because very few people are listening. It was a close result. If done today it would likely be different and now we are going to end up with the hardest of hard brexits.

I'll be going. I am not marching for a specific purpose - although would prefer we cancelled the whole lot - but to show the government that there are plenty of people voters out there who want a very close relationship with Europe. I feel like after the referendum the government thought we would pipe down and accept whatever it decided. The protests show that we won't. I felt after previous marches that they did shift the agenda away from "Brexit at any cost" and give pro-Remain MPs the confidence to finally start to act.

I'm going: I'm not convinced by a PV either but we have to break the deadlock somehow and I am sick of being told that "The People" wish to leave when it is blindingly obvious that many of us don't, especially on a No Deal.

What DippyAvocado said. Feeling impotent in the face of the abuses going on at high level is draining, publicly asserting the PV or Remain position is reinvigorating. I think a lot of people assume that Brexit/No Deal will happen because “other people” want it - it’s important to demonstrate that this is not true. I know many people who would not normally march etc but who will be there on the 19th.

Also, as someone who is not a natural campaigner, I found the atmosphere at the March march and the weekend StopTheCoup protest in September delightful - lots of families, very cheerful and friendly. Someone standing near me outside Downing Street brought a large Tupperware box of sandwiches to share with anyone who wanted one, and people were very considerate around pushchairs, wheelchairs, etc.

I hope to go and I'll be marching to show my discontent at where we are now, and I suppose to be counted and to say 'not in my name'.

I also went to the march in March, and I found it incredibly moving. There were many frail elderly people there, there were many people in wheelchairs, many young children, many people who had travelled from miles away - all feeling they had to 'do something' and to show this Govt, no, we don't all agree.

I missed the one in March but intend to be there this time, despite living 200 miles from london.

I'm not necessarily for a PV per se anymore, As unlikely as it is I think a good "deal" might now be the best way forward for the nation, but I do believe the 2016 referendum was a huge mistake on many levels and ultimately undemocratic as nobody IMO voted for no deal which is now what we're facing.

I am vehemently against Boris and Brexit generally. And this March will be the best way for me personally to take a stand.

I'm going and know at least 14 others who are going from friends and acquaintances. I'm going because I'm fed up being told this is 'the will of the people'. We are people too.

It will be my fourth march. As others have said, it is a day of positivity and an opportunity to show dissent. There is little else we can do except sign petitions, so it's important to stand up and be counted if you can.

interesting to read the responses, especially as many of you who intend to March don't necessarily want a PV. I am feeling very frustrated and impotent at the moment - I've just driven home from work listening to the news which has done nothing to improve that feeling! I'm still not sure about marching but will think about it some more

Like others I am not convinced that PV is the magic bullet but I feel I have to show my feelings. I'm so angry that my vote in the last election was counted as a pro Brexit vote. I marched in March and will be there next week

I mostly want to feel like I’ve done something. I am so embarrassed at what we have become and I want the world to see that we don’t all share xenophobic Leave.eu posts. I feel so helpless, like I’m being pushed off a cliff and I can’t reach the brakes and this is the only way I can show that I’m doing something. I’m taking my dds along too, it’s their generation that will suffer the consequences of this and I want them to see that I went down fighting.

I’m conflicted about another referendum - I don’t think I can cope with the anxiety of another night of watching the results come in but I can’t see any other way out

The march in March was a fantastic day that made me feel much better.

The combination of the banks going insolvent, the central banks bailing them out, austerity and the previous referendum has caused a forest fire that nobody knows how to put out.

How returning to a referendum fixes the mess a referendum ignited is beyond me. It’d just be throwing petrol on the fire.

Or should that be dropping a nuclear bomb on the mushroom cloud...

I’m going with my whole family and some friends. I need to feel like I’ve done something to stop this madness for my EU friends who live in the UK.
I don’t like the idea of a PV but I think it may be the only way for the government to climb down and (hopefully) revoke or at least aim for the softest brexit possible.

Unfortunately I can't go to this march, I have been to others though. I wanted to go so that in the years to come I'll be able to look my children in the eye and that I did everything I could. Also want the history books to note that this 'will of the people ' stuff is bollocks. Not in my name.

My mum and dad have just decided to join me. It will be their first ever protest at the age of 72. And travelling 200 miles to take part.

I'm checking out travel options .... I try not to fly for leisure and I've left it too late for a eurostar snap ticket so it's gonna be train to Paris then bus.

Tony Blair (I know, I know) has just put forward a good argument for a second ref on BBC2. He says Parliament can't decide what form of Brexit they want so the people should make the decision. And he said it's important to separate it from a GE because there are so many other issues at stake in a GE (I'm paraphrasing).

The public were lied to in the first ref so I want a 2nd with May's deal (sod the DUP) or remain on the ballot paper. If the majority still vote leave, I will reluctantly accept that we are a nation of numpties.

I won't be marching but I still feel able to look DC in the eye.
