From Flamingos to Yellowhammer and Black Swans.

The Tory Remainer is now a Dodo. Instead the party in inhabited by disaster capitalist Vultures. Jeremy Corbyn, meanwhile, has been labelled by the right wing press as a Chicken. The SNP would very much like Boris Johnson to be a Jailbird. The LDs are keen to sing like Canaries about the contents of BlackSwan. The Br

And the Tower of London is starting to get very jumpy about the whereabouts and location of its Ravens.

I would not, however, advise eating urban wild pigeons if things get desperate, from what I know of their health.

If he did run on a PV manifesto I’d probably vote Labour but I’m in die hard Toryville so it would make sod all differenc

I could have sworn that is what has been decided.

If you are a Tory and you vote for Labour, it might make some difference.

I do think though that a referendum should be separated from an election. But I don't think that's going to happen.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2019 22:36

"Corbyn has made himself unelectable."

Bear You're the one missing the point

Yes he's a disaster, BUT there is no possibility of removing him as Labour leader before Brexit

So all the moaning about him is pointless
He is Labour leader, the leader of the Opposition and will be there until he decides to step down
The premature 2nd attempt to topple him ensured that

In the likely event of a GE this year, the PM will either be BJ or him
(barring illness / tragedy)

Indeed - as is relying on any solution which requires him to be PM.

It must be exhausting constantly challenging and arguing with everyone about everything. Always having to take an opposing viewpoint.

It’s really not - I’d rather than than be a sheep.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2019 22:39

We should be concentrating on avoiding No Deal

And any plan with "step #1: get rid of Corbyn"
won't get to step 2

TheABC · 14/09/2019 22:40

It's all froth until
A) the Supreme Court rules
And
B) Parliament sits again.

I am using copious amounts of brain bleach about the thought of the Blonde One in boxers. Why two intelligent woman chose to settle for him, I will never know.

Regarding Labour, there's not much point in arguing about their Brexit position. It could change at the party conference or be rendered redundant by events. Corbyn has gone up in my estimation over the past two weeks: compared to Johnson, he appears calm and unruffled. He also avoided the GE bear trap that shows some forward thinking.

I am still glad to see the Lib Dems growing and this may lead to a larger role for them in the future if there's another hung parliament.

Bearbehind · 14/09/2019 22:40

And any plan with Step 1 - elect Corbyn, won’t get to step 2 either.

chomalungma · 14/09/2019 22:41

Indeed - as is relying on any solution which requires him to be PM

He did get 40% share of the vote in 2017.

So that's not bad for then......

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2019 22:41

It’s really not - I’d rather than than be a sheep.

I've not seen any sheep on this particular thread.

Sometimes you can blind yourself to the clearest plan by battling everything rather than taking time to consider options and being pragmatic.

Then Justice Minister Sam Gyimah on Turing's law

www.gov.uk/government/news/thousands-officially-pardoned-under-turings-law

Justice Minister Sam Gyimah said:

This is a truly momentous day. We can never undo the hurt caused, but we have apologised and taken action to right these wrongs.

I am immensely proud that ‘Turing’s Law’ has become a reality under this government.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2019 22:43

The only other alternative that doesn't require Corbyn is if MPs vote for the current WA

However, iirc you don't want that either

If you think No Deal is inevitable and the country is doomed, then you could always go off in a corner and make just yourself miserable

thecatfromjapan · 14/09/2019 22:44

Anyway, another poll:

And I'll admit I posted that a.) as a distraction 😁 and b.) just to confirm what everyone on these threads often says, which is that everything is all over the place at the moment.*

  • and probably the best way to deal with it is to pace yourself & where you put your energy.
thecatfromjapan · 14/09/2019 22:45

Is it very wrong that I've just laughed?

Bearbehind · 14/09/2019 22:46

Sometimes you can blind yourself to the clearest plan by battling everything rather than taking time to consider options and being pragmatic.

Contrary to popular believe, I don’t just set out to argue with everyone 😂

What is ‘the clearest plan’? Completely genuine question

SwedishEdith · 14/09/2019 22:47

Why two intelligent woman chose to settle for him, I will never know.

Career for the latest one. And a father figure.

thecatfromjapan · 14/09/2019 22:48

Bear There isn't one.

That's why it's so strange to see you getting so worked up about stuff that is kind of irrelevant.

Bearbehind · 14/09/2019 22:48

If you think No Deal is inevitable and the country is doomed, then you could always go off in a corner and make just yourself miserable

Even you’ve said you think we’re heading for no deal BCF so why is it different when I say it?

I’m not being ‘miserable’ I’m being realistic.

I’m all for any viable alternatives - I just don’t see any.

The MOS is reporting that Boris is adamant that he will not obey Parliament's order. No 10 strategists say they have devised a secret plan which they claim will allow them to ignore the order to ask the EU to extend Article 50 without breaking the law. Hmm

Although most legal experts are sceptical that this would work.

Now what are they up to?

chomalungma · 14/09/2019 22:50

Polls eh.....

thecatfromjapan · 14/09/2019 22:50

Sam Gyimah looks really happy.

I'm always a bit surprised by just how relieved the exited Conservatives look.

RedToothBrush · 14/09/2019 22:50

David Allen Green@davidallengreen
The government's last few approaches to Brexit

- close parliament so to leave on 31 October come what may
- bend law so as to leave (side letter, emergency powers, etc)
- break law so as to leave
- claim to have super powers caused by exposure to gamma radiation so as to leave

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2019 22:50

We are in the situation where there is no safe path to avoid disaster, so we have to go with what we have

There is not even 1 in 1 million chance of Labour deposing Corbyn before Brexit

His chances of winning a GE are poor, but one hell of a lot higher than that

A hung Parliament is quite likely, but would be a nightmare to form a govt
He might well get frustrated / exhausted and quit, not long into the Parliament, if he doesn't win a majority
