Labour voters, will it be LIB DEMs for you this time?

I’ve always voted labour, and I believe in moderate centre left policies, but certainly can’t vote labour if we have an election. Would love it if there was a labour/lib dem/ green pact, but if not it will have to be Lib Dem. anyone else?

I have always voted labour- I am not keen on Jeremy Corbyn- BUT
right now the most important issue is to get rid of the Tory party unless you want a fascistic government and to leave with no deal.
Because of this I will vote tactically- at the moment that looks like voting labour in my constituency (I do like the labour candidate so that helps).

Corbyn won't be around for ever, unlike Brexshit, which will be forever.

fessmess · 08/09/2019 08:49

I used to vote Labour, now Green. Our Green candidate does well in elections and got nearly 13000 votes in 2017 but Tory got in. However, I am considering voting Lib Dem just to stop Brexit and I vowed after 2010 (my one and only foray into Lib Dem territory) never again. Also, Lib Dem's do poorly here. They were after UKIP last time.

TanMateix · 08/09/2019 08:51

It will be whoever has more chances to beat Boris. I swore I couldn’t vote for Corbyn and have been voting green since but that suggestion of the Greens to have a woman only cabinet just killed them for me, they are ok putting pressure over environmental issues but miles away from leading capability.

I would vote the LibDems if they had a chance against Labour/Cons, but they don’t so instead of splitting the votes against Boris, I’m voting for Corbyn (my labour MP is also great so I would like her staying), as crazy as Corbyn is, he can’t be worse than Boris.

SallyWD · 08/09/2019 09:02

I dislike this assumption that no one will vote for Labour. I will vote Labour and am happy with Jeremy Corbyn.

LolaSmiles · 08/09/2019 09:08

I'm not sure Jeremy Corbyn is right on everything but I like our MP. I think they're good and have enough battles in the constituency trying to explain parliamentary sovereignty to idiots posting on their Facebook about "taking back control" (the types who've never really voted, have almost zero knowledge of politics but in the last 3 years seem to have decided they're political experts in a country that don't need no experts).

I'll do what it takes to prevent the Tories in their current hard-line right wing stance doing any more damage.

I find it interesting that you've got the likes of John Major, Ken Livingstone, and the Greens and Jo Johnson and portions of Labour and the Lib Dems all saying the current government is out of order and still some people can't see that maybe such cross party working might just have a reason.

Lepetitpiggy · 08/09/2019 09:09

After 2010 and Jo Swinson's appalling record?? Never!

Lepetitpiggy · 08/09/2019 09:10

Also we have a wonderful Labour MP and as long as he is there I will vote for him.

TanMateix · 08/09/2019 09:12

2010...

Well, it seems that nobody has forgiven the LD for failing to stop the Tories raising the tuition fees BUT people seem very forgiving with the Tories even if they have got us all the way down to a dictatorship.

littlepeas · 08/09/2019 09:19

I think the more moderate Tories may turn to the Lib Dems too. Both main parties have almost become joke versions of themselves.

TheBitterBoy · 08/09/2019 09:20

Libdem for me, although that is partly tactical, as I live in a v safe tory seat (albeit a strong remain area with a v brexit MP)

FantailsFly · 08/09/2019 09:28

I’m a Labour voter but I am deeply disappointed at how weak Labour have been in opposition (not just over Brexit). That said, I like a lot off Labour’s ideas. I’ll vote tactically to get rid of Conservatives.

Sleepthief · 08/09/2019 09:31

I will be voting with my heart, which is with Labour. To be honest where I am is such a Labour stronghold that it wouldn't make a difference anyway , but I voted 'tactically' at the EU elections and I bitterly regret it. Never again!

EvilEdna1 · 08/09/2019 09:33

I will vote Lib Dem as a tactical vote as my area is very Tory but the Tory MP is disliked. My constituency voted remain and he is a rabid leaver.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 08/09/2019 09:36

Vote tactically. There are campaigns running on social media that will help with this. If the remain vote splits, we will lose.

Also remember that a GE is about so much more than Brexit. Look at candidates voting records. If you don't want years more of austerity, you have to vote the Tories out.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 08/09/2019 09:38

On Facebook, look up The Progressive Alliance and Tactical Voting in the 2019 Election.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 08/09/2019 09:39

I would rather vote Green or Lib Dem and run the risk we leave the EU than have Corbyn as PM.

RedSheep73 · 08/09/2019 09:40

I'll vote for whoever has the better chance of unseating my tory-bastard mp. As I always do. Never worked yet but I live in hope.

blackistheneworange · 08/09/2019 09:42

I can't vote for Corbyn - he's not decided which side of the Brexit fence he's on until he could see his chance for power. I blame him as much as anyone else for the mess we are in - he stood so far back when the whole vote happened he may has well been snuggled up on that bench with JRM!

DivisionBelles · 08/09/2019 09:42

Our constituency has flip flopped between Con and LD over the years. Labour have no chance here and always come a very poor third. I will be voting LD - anything to get rid of our terrible Tory incumbent.

jenthelibrarian · 08/09/2019 09:47

I was a long-term Labour Party member but have not been since their failure to to support remain and our EU membership.

The Lib-Dems lied about tuition fees and went into coalition with the Tories - why should I trust them again?

My Tory MP, who always seemed to be The Enemy has turned out to be a brave and outspoken opposition to the government and everything it currently stands for. He is likely to be deselected asap and replaced by some fascist.

I have absolutely no idea who to vote for!

Yaralie · 08/09/2019 09:55

Angela Smith MP has joined the LibDems. She said: "We are facing a national crisis and people deserve better than the choice of the old two parties."

Ms Smith is the third MP to join the Lib Dems in a week, after Luciana Berger and Philip Lee defected.

She quit Labour in February to form the Change UK party with six other MPs.

The decision by Ms Smith, who is MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, brings the total number of Lib Dem MPs to 17, with Mr Lee dramatically crossing the floor from the Conservatives on 3rd September.

Labour voter all my life and member till earlier this year.

It will be Lib Dem or Tory for me.

I'm Scottish so whichever party is best placed locally to beat the SNP

If you think brexit is bad then scexit would be a million times worse.

missyB1 · 08/09/2019 10:01

We live in a constituency that is always borderline Tory/Lib Dem so pointless voting Labour here. However I’ve always voted Labour in general elections but need to tactically vote this time to get the smug devious Tory MP out.
I really wish all the opposition parties would do a deal together to get rid of this Government.

Yaralie · 08/09/2019 10:04

Jo Swinson tweeted "Welcome Angela Smith to the Lib Dems. She’s the sixth new MP to join us in the last three months, along with over 30,000 new members. Together we can stop Brexit.”

Smith follows Chuka Umunna and

DarkAtEndOfUK · 08/09/2019 10:28

No way on earth that I would vote Lib Dem.

They are Tories for the middle class - they don't want change, they want to support the existing class hierarchy-through-birth, and specifically the highly vocal middle class section.

They also need to rediscover the definition of women.

For as long as Labour remain Remain, I'll stick with them. If I need an alternative I will hold my nose and vote Greens - another bunch of middle class people who have no idea what life is like on the bottom, but at least they're blind idealists rather than deliberate supporters of it.
