Labour voters, will it be LIB DEMs for you this time?

I’ve always voted labour, and I believe in moderate centre left policies, but certainly can’t vote labour if we have an election. Would love it if there was a labour/lib dem/ green pact, but if not it will have to be Lib Dem. anyone else?

Certainly couldn't vote for Labour. Apparently the Labour chair has proposed abolishing all private schools. They are imo verging on Marxism.

Lib Dems ha ha ha.

Conservative it is.

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 11:15

I can't support labour.

Their policy that everyone must live in the same poverty so that everyone is equal is bonkers.

quiteathome · 09/09/2019 11:31

Going to have to be LibDem. I live in a Tory/ LibDem area. We have a Tory MP at the moment. We were a close leave area.

LibDems are the only party likely to beat the Tory MP here. Labour are always third, although the candidate looks promising.

Fleetheart · 09/09/2019 19:36

I have a lot of time for Jeremy Corbyn, but I don’t think he is successful in uniting his party and he has been very poor on the opposition; so how could we expect him to be a good PM? I guess in my area if it was labour to get the tories out then I would. We have a really strong Lib Dem candidate here and so I think she is best placed to move our incumbent Tory out. Fingers crossed anyway.

I have a Tory MP

I will vote for any candidate who has a chance against him (excluding BXP).

Going on previous elections I suspect it will be labour.

2 months ago I would have said I would vote Lib Dems / Green.

I have voted Labournin every election since 97 (bar one year and regretted my vote as soon as I left the polling station)

WindyScales · 09/09/2019 22:19

I will vote Libdem out of principle. I live in a very strong Tory area who voted to remain, with an MP who is supporting to leave with no deal.

tangled2 · 09/09/2019 22:27

Labour for me.

I wouldn't vote for Lib Dem, couldn't trust them not to form a coalition with the Tories.

everythingisginandroses · 10/09/2019 00:01

Lib Dems? It's a no from me.

Cattenberg · 10/09/2019 00:29

I’ve never actually voted for Labour in a general election, but have voted Green. The Lib Dems have the best chance of unseating our (awful) Tory MP, so I’ll vote for them. I like our local Green candidate, but I hope he doesn’t stand this time to avoid splitting the Remain vote. I’d love it if the Tories and the Brexit Party scuppered each other’s chances.

VanGoghsDog · 10/09/2019 00:39

@jenthelibrarian

Exactly the same - Labour family, member all my life until earlier this year. Found I just couldn't vote for them in the Euro election and couldn't stay a member of a party I can't vote for.

'Good' Tory in my constituency who stepped down from his ministerial role under May, and has recently said he's not standing in the next election as he refused to vote with the govt so had the whip removed.

It's all toss.

I'll vote for whoever is lost likely to form an alliance that will stop Brexit. I'll have to hold my nose over the trans shit though as none of them come up smelling of roses on that issue!

VanGoghsDog · 10/09/2019 00:41

Their policy that everyone must live in the same poverty so that everyone is equal is bonkers.

Could you link to that policy on their website please because I must have overlooked it last time I looked. Thanks!

Lepetitpiggy · 10/09/2019 08:45

Yes, I'd missed that bit too. Are you sure it wasn't Animal Farm you read by mistake?

Yaralie · 10/09/2019 20:26

I will vote LIbDem and actively campaign to oust our utterly useless ERG Tory MP.

Quite apart from the fact that I agree with the LibDem values and most of their policies, the LibDems are without doubt the strongest party of Remain.

If we could get a LIbDem government, the first thing that would happen would be Revoking Article 50 so we could Remain in the EU which is obviously best for our country and what the majority of the electorate has wanted for over two years.

If you agree we should Remain EU members but do not normally vote LibDem, just please do it at the next election to STOP BREXIT..

AlphaJura · 10/09/2019 20:32

I've only ever voted labour and I'm still going to vote labour. I never used to vote for anyone but after Cameron got in I wished I'd just voted for Ed Miliband. I live in a 'safe' Tory Seat but labour came second last time and are gaining on the tories so they represent the best chance. I don't like or trust the Lib Dem's. After the 'coalition' debacle. Also Jo Swinson voted for all the austerity measures so might aswell be a Tory. Our labour candidate is pro EU too.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/09/2019 20:35

Would never vote Lib Dem after they propped up the Tories for 5 years. Fluffy capitalists.

chomalungma · 10/09/2019 21:05

I want to ensure there is a No Deal Brexit. I will vote for the party that ensures that there will be a No Deal Brexit - and that looks like Labour - as the Lib Dems are risking No Deal if they don't stand aside on Tory / Labour constituencies.

A seat near me has a Conservative MP but they are vulnerable to Labour. Lib Dems are way down at the bottom. I really hope that candidate stands aside.

MysteryTripAgain · 11/09/2019 06:48

Watch Emily Thornberry on last weeks episode of Question Time. If labour in power she is going to negotiate a great deal with the EU and then campaign for remain.

Contradicting or what

DontForgetToDeadhead · 11/09/2019 06:50

I'll be voting labour.

PictureWall · 11/09/2019 06:52

I will vote for whatever remain party is most likely to give my Tory MP a run for his money. I hope and prey that Lab, Lib Dem and a Green will agree a pact so they don’t split the remain vote but that sadly seems unlikely.

WitsEnding · 11/09/2019 06:52

We have a great Labour MP who gets my vote. I would never trust the Liberals after the ConDem austerity pact, I'd rather vote Green (a throwaway vote here).

DontForgetToDeadhead · 11/09/2019 07:04

@chomalungma I am confused by your post! Are you saying that you want a no deal Brexit?

LeslieYep · 11/09/2019 07:06

Tory white (blue) wash in my constituency. Labour comes a very far away 2nd.

But, the Tory MP (Dominic grieve) does not do as the whip suggests so I can see him being removed for some hideous underling. He's one Tory I could like despite me being a left wing, anti-austerity remainer.

chomalungma · 11/09/2019 07:10

Are you saying that you want a no deal Brexit

Ever wish MN had an edit function?

I want to ensure there is NOT a NO Deal Brexit....

RaggieDolls · 11/09/2019 08:07

I really don't want to vote for Jeremy Corbyn. He is too left wing and TU for me and he isn't a remainer.

At the moment I intend to vote Lib Dem but I live in an area where the Labour MP has a majority of 40 odd so my vote will really count. I really need to think carefully because @averylongtimeago makes such a strong point with this:

Corbyn won't be around for ever, unlike Brexshit, which will be forever.

faelavie · 11/09/2019 08:54

I have been a Labour voter for years, I like Corbyn overall even though he disappointed me in the referendum campaign, my political views still pretty much align with his. Even though he has a long history of Euroscepticism and I'm an avid Remainer.

I'll likely vote tactically, however, to try and get the Tories out. My area is a safe Tory seat. I've never voted Tory in my life and I never will.
