People are meeting at College Green (just down the way from Parliament Square) this evening at 5:30 (and on I guess)

Saturday 31st there is a protest outside Downing street at 12pm. See photo.

I'll add any more that I see. Feel free to do the same.

The thing about these polls is to look at the opinion polls around the last election:

Polls during the months before the 2017 election were typically:

Cons 45%
Lab 35%
UKIP 5%
Lib Dem 8%
Green 2%
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_2017_United_Kingdom_general_election
And we all know how the election in June worked out for Theresa May...

The UKIP / Cons vote is similar to the Cons / Brexit combined

The Labour vote has gone down but the Lib Dems have gone up.

Which will make any election very interesting,

Chomulunga as I already said I can find no mention online of the poll quoted below. Does anyone have a link to a proper source for it? Because otherwise I think it is fake.

I linked to a poll from 2017. The polls at the moment do have the Conservatives at about 35%, Brexit at about 12%, Lab and Lib Dems split at about 48% between them. Margin of errors come into this (something people often forget)

So really, the polls tell us that the country is split - and that nothing can be taken for granted in any election - despite the Daily Mail getting very excited over the last poll

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2019 08:49

Westminstenders are talking about the polls :)

Definitely don't forget to put Oct 19 in your diaries. Travel wise, it's worth looking at Advance train tickets. I've also just looked and there are various coaches already available to book.

Chomolungma thanks. Yes that is the view I get, that the country is very divided and that anyone who tries to call the probable election result is foolish. And too much can happen in the next month alone to majorly change public opinion

Doesn't stop the Daily Mail getting very excited though every time a new poll comes out though Grin

(know your enemy and all that)

DateLoaf · 01/09/2019 10:17

I saw loads of people around until afternoon yesterday wearing neon yellow Bollocks to Brexit stickers Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2019 11:48

That's great Date!

I'm worn out today! Taking things very gently.

There is also a demo in Manchester 29th September to coincide with the Tory Party Conference. It has been in the organising for a while now - with a street circus theme. Come dressed as a clown to make them feel welcome.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2019 12:59

That sounds great!

Another !
They did one outside Betty's just before the wedding :-)

PS Momentum can take a long walk off a short pier in my book.

They have threatened lots of moderate pro Remain MPs with deselection for not being "radical"

Their "leader" JC wants a hard Brexit

The two Momentum speakers yesterday were booed off because they were so tribal and partisan
rather than inclusive and open minded

The Coup and Brexit are nothing to do with party politics
They are about Democracy and State Capture
( www.economist.com/briefing/2019/08/29/how-viktor-orban-hollowed-out-hungarys-democracy )
Read and be VERY AFRAID about how it can all be done within our existing laws
Prorogation and Dominic Cummings are the well trodden first steps

For those of you in London, there is leafleting of tube stations going on, organised by various groups, eg. European Movement in Wandsworth and Merton.

woman19 · 02/09/2019 00:14

Anti Prorogation Protests in Thesaloniki in Greece and Sau Paulo today. Smile

Plus another suggested action: would be great to combine all protests with food bank donations.

@J_amesp
Here’s my practical idea for a protest against the government and their frankly sh** Brexit preparedness policy:

For every £1 they are spending on the £100million ad campaign, pro-EU groups should put one item into their local foodbanks to help the vulnerable.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 02/09/2019 07:16

Wish I could go to Parliament Square tomorrow - important to show the MPs refusing to give in to the tyrrany that they have support ouside Wsetminster.

[How have we come to this?]

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/09/2019 07:36

That's an interesting idea woman :)

As Johnson starts the purge of the Tory party this week (unless those involved lose courage) It's important we keep up the protests.

Almost 50 still planned, plus SODEM are continuing to protest in London each has day. www.stopthecoup.org.uk/
