The Lidl voucher is apparently in tomorrow's Metro, not today's.

For anyone with feline overlords who prefer Purina One dry food, Wilko has it for £11.50 a large bag (usually £14).

Next weekend (31st August) Lidl have 18-packs of loo roll for £3.19, and shelf-stable chorizo for 74p. The chorizo is really nice, and you don’t need much to liven up rice, pasta or beans.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2019 17:21

We get through loads of chorizo, so I'll investigate that.

Thanks for the headsup re Whiskas in Morrisons - though in my local one they had one pile at £8.75, and one at £8.00. I was prepared to give the checkout person a Hard Paddington Stare if they put my boxes through at £8.75, but luckily they did it all at £8.00. Phew!

@flouncyfanny Grin. I am clearly a Bad Owner as ours only gets tuna after the V.E.T.

Our feline dictator (may as well be accurate) has trained us to buy Purina dry and Felix As Good As Looks Doubly Delicious Fish. She's recently thrown us a curveball by deciding after six years of insisting on fish that actually she'd like a change, and apparently the meat ones are quite tasty as well....

Oh, for those wanting the big tubs of QS, heroes, celebrations and Roses Tesco have them for £4, plastic tubs though.

AutumnCrow · 25/08/2019 21:14

I'm not doing tubs of chocolates this year. We had so many sweets left over from them last year that no-one liked, that even the deals weren't worth it. There's a sad post-Xmas misery in dejectedly trying to work through a dozen of those weird 'creme egg' plastic sweets and trying to get OH to eat the Bounties.

Lidl 39p milk chocolate, on the other hand, is a big hit. Genuinely nice taste.

Also popular is the big bag of Lidl oven chips for 90p. I was paying a lot more in Asda and they weren't as good.

Morrisons do a 4 pack of lemon deoderizing soaps for £1.20.

They are pretty good.

Wilkos own brand apple washing up liquid is nice and 60p.

Thanks for the lidl chorizo tip

If you have a local avon rep they have some lovely cheap perfume atm, and body creams, hand creans on offer.

I like their bubble bath and scented spritzes :)

Important to smell nice in an apocalypse imo

Tesco have a discount off Yorkshire teabags at the moment, 160 bags for £3 (down from £5.39). Their Meridian crunchy peanut butter is also down to £1.50 from £2.

Avon can be bought online. In case you didn't know.

We get PG Tips. They're 2 for £7 in Farmfoods and £3.49 a box (240) in Home Bargains.

@flouncyfanny Grin. Good thinking - I think my cat would like to visit you!

@flouncyfanny - that does remind me, I should get some tuna in spring water for the kitty box. I don't know what madness took over me that I've bought tuna I can't share with the cat. She'll never forgive me if there's a tuna can being opened and she doesn't get the drained water with bits of fish in it!

We're doing Tesco and Pets At Home today.

Next job for me is to arrange the freezer. We only have a small one, with three drawers. Ideally I'd have one drawer for dairy and fruit, another for fish, meat and veggie protein, and the last one for veg. But where do I shove all the bread that's there now, which I've been making from my expiring bread mixes?!

In your stomach, @GoneWishing! 🍞🍞🍞

It's Ocado for me today which is mainly tinned veg and treats. Good combination! 😂😂

We have a stupid amount of tuna, it has to be said. But it'll get used! But we don't have cats, just kids who eat it.

Anyone who's into / stocking up for baking, Hobbycraft has 3 for 2 on Dr Oetker bits. I've ordered 6 x 150g bars of dark chocolate and 3 tubs of sprinkles for £11.00.

That should mean my Christmas baking is more than covered. 🎄🎅🏻

Bercows

In winter I get dreadfully dry and chapped hands. They itch and bleed.

And the other poster who said about hands - do you use soap or hand wash? Stay away from anything with SLS in it. I used to have bleeding hands and I went through so much hand cream. Until DS started having the same so I switched to Moo Goo Milk Wash for us both (expensive but lasts a long time). I had been using olive oil soap but that wasn't gentle enough. I don't even use Moo Goo now, we use Childs Farm or plain soap from Aldi and I haven't bought hand cream for years. The Moo Goo worked out a lot cheaper than buying hand cream. But I never let wash up liquid or cleaning stuff on my hands. I hate gloves but I hate being in pain from all the tiny cracks more.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/08/2019 10:47

I only use Aldi soap as soap in bottles dries my hands.

Tuna is reasonably cheap in Aldi too.

Beef ravioli, beans and sausages, macaroni cheese etc.

Tesco has tinned tomatoes and chickpeas 4 for £1 in the world food aisle, their own brand (unsalted) chickpeas are 3 for £1 (as are a lot of their beans)
