So leaving on WTO terms looks like a very sound choice. Germany props up the entire EU superstate pretty much.

I for one am feeling much more optimistic by the day.

do you have a link?

See my previous post - I was mistaken. Electoral commission appealing his appeal. It has been confirmed that vote leave broke the law and this has been referred to the Met. Source: Electoral Commission press releases.

SistemaAddict · 26/07/2019 13:29

Quick meeting, that.

Mistigri · 26/07/2019 13:30

Bercows, this IS the lunch meeting.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 13:31

misti Switzerland choose to be in schengen area, they have now asked to reverse their decision, and the EU Commission are refusing to do so. They are under no obligation, as they are a non EU member.

I am waiting for them to turn up Hmm why on earth do you care?

I see we have a leader tag team now 😂

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 13:32

Ffs LEAVER! still can't type due to amusement and small child climbing on me.

Clavinova · 26/07/2019 13:33

The electoral commission has appealed the Darren Grimes case.

I can only see that they are considering an appeal - they have until the 9th August to decide?

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 13:33

You are very used, too used to leavers keeping quiet. They all exist here though.

Great excitement on the remainer threads, they finally get some new blood.

OP posts:
urbanlife · 26/07/2019 13:38

clav very much not the same thing. Some parts of remain establishment are going after every single person that they can. It is well funded and well orchestrated but won't change the result now. So an utter waste of money.

Darren Grimes deserves a bloody medal. He is only young too.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 13:39

Must dash but no doubt Misti will sit here all day coming out with the same diatribe. I would have more respect for them if they could produce a coherent pro EU case for remaining, but they couldn't and didn't, so we are where we are now.

Leaving!

For those interest, well read parties who this appears to have passed by, here is the electoral commission update on Darren Grimes:

www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/journalist/electoral-commission-media-centre/party-and-election-finance-to-keep/vote-leave-fined-and-referred-to-the-police-for-breaking-electoral-law

He has won the appeal against the fine. They still found that he broke the law and he is still being referred to the police.

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 13:45

It is always a good idea to read the source material and not just the reporting.

Hot tip for those dedicated researchers out there.

bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 13:45

I don't need to come up with a coherent pro-EU case. You need to come up with a reason why No Deal won't mess with GFA.
Happy to leave if we don't mess with GFA.

I think you are misreading the press release - the headline refers to July 2018?

I have to go now in any case.

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 14:03

There is an update at the top.

I can read. Are you sure you can?

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 14:06

I’ve highlighted the relevant bits for those who find reading the whole thing a bit too time consuming.

Johnson solution is that the EU removes the backstop from the WA

bellinisurge · 26/07/2019 14:12

Yes - removing the backstop 😂 what a clever wheeze. Saves thinking about it, doesn't it.

EmeraldIsle2016 · 26/07/2019 14:26

If removal of backstop avoids no deal is it not worth pursuing?

Isthisafreename · 26/07/2019 14:29

@EmeraldIsle2016 - If removal of backstop avoids no deal is it not worth pursuing?

If no deal breaks the GFA is it worth pursuing?

Isthisafreename · 26/07/2019 14:39

@EmeraldIsle2016 - So UK needs to ensure they keep watch on what EU legislation changes after Brexit in term states of rights (wages, job opportunities, etc.) to avoid disparities. Should not be difficult.

So if, for example, the EU brought in a law requiring employers to give all employees a minimum of 30 days annual leave, not including public holidays, you think the UK would do the same? I admire your faith but given we are still waiting for the UK to stop forcing British citizenship on NI people who identify as Irish only, forgive me if I don't share your optimism.

For me Brexit is more about changes to trade rather than changing peoples rights.

You don't get to pick and choose. Once the UK is out of the EU there is nothing to stop the UK government from reducing rights.

Brexit: Pelosi warns UK not to jeopardise Belfast Agreement

It'll have to be an NI-backstop only, but there will be a backstop
BJ & much of the ERG won't mind; the DUP would be incandescent - hence one reason for the push to a GE ?

US congress ‘will not endorse trade deal’ with Britain if peace agreement is weakened
.....
Brexiteers have argued Britain will be in a position to strike a trade deal with the United States when it leaves the European Union.

But any trade agreement must be endorsed by Congress.

Ms Pelosi said during a visit to London in April that there would be “no chance whatsoever” of a US-UK trade deal if the Northern Ireland peace agreement was weakened by Brexit
