So leaving on WTO terms looks like a very sound choice. Germany props up the entire EU superstate pretty much.

I for one am feeling much more optimistic by the day.

18 million voted Leave?

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:06

May I add I have never alluded to inside information whatever that is, I am very well read.

Mistigri · 26/07/2019 12:11

China is already one of the big three world powers - the other two are, of course, the EU and the USA.

Mistigri · 26/07/2019 12:13

And the idea that Russia is gaining power is about four decades out of date (it's the world's 11th largest national economy and its GDP is about 8% of the EU's).

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:14

17.8 million to be absolutely precise.

OP posts:
urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:15

Seriously Misti, I think you are underestimating the changes ahead.

17.8 million to be absolutely precise.

Is that your definition of "absolutely precise"?

Motherof3Dragons · 26/07/2019 12:16

@ urbanlife. Your hyperbole is ridiculous and totally misleading.

The German economy had a few good years and it‘s slowing down now. So what?

Trade wars have an effect on all major players.

At the end of the day the German economy is still SOLID so I am afraid your glee is
premature 😅

I find your hopes for an german recession quite amazing though!

Do you know how many people BMW alone employs in the UK? Around 8000 directly and 14000 indirectly.

These jobs could be under threat if your hopes and dreams of a German recession would come true.

But I guess you don’t care about these jobs, as long as you can stick it to the Germans!

The UK should stop blaming the EU for everything and start looking to actually get on with their plan of making things „great“ again.

That also means unifying all people and opinions.

After reading the comments in this thread, I really doubt that this is going to happen in the UK at all!

Everyone is too busy pointing fingers and blaming each other.
Therefore I do think the UK will fall apart.

And the Leavers will try to blame all and sundry for this, but at the end of the day it was their Leave- Vote that initiated the Fallout with their delusion of grandeur and their readiness to go „nuclear“ in the Brexit negotiations.

Isthisafreename · 26/07/2019 12:17

@EmeraldIsle2016 - Why after leaving EU would the UK drop the standards it has been following for the last 40+ years? ie how would the GFA be contradicted in UK rights mirror EU legislation anyway and those in ROI and NI are on an equal footing?

I should have said if rights diverge, the GFA would be contravened. If the EU improve rights and the UK don't or if the UK contract rights (which is possible with such a right-wing government) then the GFA would be contravened.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:18

Some of us care about democracy, some of us don’t.

Ultimately I hope we leave with a decent deal, and that most people will feel it was the best outcome possible, even just for the sake of cohesion - but if it’s WTO then that is fine too.

OP posts:
Isthisafreename · 26/07/2019 12:19

@urbanlife - I have provided evidence for every single one of my claims already

You have provided no evidence wrt your claims regarding the GFA.

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:20

mother that is your view, a whole heartedly disagree. We will see what happens.

when remain have done nothing but overthrow centuries old parliamentary rules, and have done nothing but frustrate the democratic process of our departure.

Last I heard, we had a Parliamentary democracy. We could rule by Referenda all the time if we chose, but so far we haven't done. So more hard Leaver slop. Get over it, you won.

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 12:24

@urbanlife

You have no credibility then. You say you have no inside information but are just well read. It does all depend on what you’ve been reading.

Because you are asking us to believe that you are expert enough to predict the outcome of a major event in our countries history.

Almost everything you are saying comes off as under informed and without basis. I’m afraid that you’ll have to be more specific if you want to be more credible.

I have also read a lot about Brexit. I’ll tell you my reading list. Let’s see if it’s similar- The Times, The FT, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, DExEU press releases and guides, The Spectator, The Economist and Guido Fawkes.

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 12:27

Some of us care about democracy, some of us don’t.

Is that supposed to be you caring about democracy?

Please explain in what way the people disagreeing with you don’t care about democracy?

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 12:27

I genuinely have to go to a lunch meeting, you can screech that I am abandoning the thread, but I am not.

I have tried hard to remind you all that there is another view out there, one that does not buy into the EU federalist dream. There are millions and millions of us that feel this way all across Europe. I hope that the EU countries will keep their cultures, identities and independence, as much as I hope the same for the UK.

I can not support the EU commission with its non elected regime and its ever growing expansion plans, despite living in various European capitals for several years. I have come to the conclusion that it does not serve the people of this country well.

OP posts:
Justaboutdone · 26/07/2019 12:36

@urbanlife do you think it is correct that we in the UK get a prime minister that we have not voted for?

Mistigri · 26/07/2019 12:36

17.8 million to be absolutely precise.

No one else saw this?

Properly hilarious.

Peregrina · 26/07/2019 12:37

If you genuinely cared about democracy, you would have no problems with Parliament trying to exercise it. You have convinced me that for all your reading, you haven't really got a clue what democracy is.

First you write some bilge about Germany, then you write more bilge about Ireland, then you write some bilge about the EU for which there have just been elections. You won, you are getting your dream, do get over it.

derxa · 26/07/2019 12:37

.

BelleSausage · 26/07/2019 12:38

@Justaboutdone

Don’t bother. They’ve just remembered an urgent appointment and have to go (change their username). Perhaps do some more reading before you come back @urbanlife

I’m totally willing to talk Brexit and democracy with people. I just ask that they aren’t talking horse shit all the time.

SistemaAddict · 26/07/2019 12:54

SistemaAddict · 26/07/2019 12:54

I'm off to buy some Tena lady. Laughing so hard I can't typeGrin

It seems to be the end of @urbanlife’s shift. Guess someone else will be along in a minute to replace them.
