The last couple of years has made me feel surprisingly well disposed towards the royals. Queen looked miserable with Trump last night.

howabout · 04/06/2019 13:56

Moan NF concentrating on Peterborough and leaving JC and the various Tory candidates infighting all over the place. Looks like smart politics.

Brexit Party started talking policy today with a presentation on what plan for British Steel would be. Richard Tice raising his profile atm - was on Marr on Sunday. Planned media interviews with NF for end of next week, which will be interesting / potentially irrelevant depending on Peterborough result.

BigChocFrenzy · 04/06/2019 14:19

Farage was right about his initials:
whenever I see NF, I think National Front - which fits a fascist politician

Labour says Trump does not deserve such special honours

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jun/04/trump-visit-mass-protests-to-be-held-in-london-as-baby-blimp-returns

“A state visit is an honour and we don’t think this president deserves an honour.

“The truth is he has tried to close borders with Muslim-majority countries,

he is caging small Mexican children

he has grabbed women and boasted about it.

He is a sexual predator,

he is a racist
and it’s right to say that

tobee · 04/06/2019 14:28

Jeremy Corbyn requested a meeting with Trump. Says Trump. Trump turned him down. 🤔 Why do I think Trump is lying?

prettybird · 04/06/2019 14:28

Just loving Hmm Trump's re-writing of facts around his visit #fakenews

Apparently no protests (or only a tiny one) abc the streets are full of UK supporters of him waving US flags and he could feel the love.

And he was the one who refused to meet with Corbyn, who had asked to meet him Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 04/06/2019 14:28

Farage warns Boris:

“If Boris wins and he marches his troops up to the top of the hill with the expectation that we are leaving on 31 October and then we don’t and they are marched back down again.

In those circumstances in a future general election the Brexit party would produce a result even more stunning than it did in the European electionss^.”

tobee · 04/06/2019 14:29

Very ashamed by what the front pages show today!

BackInTime · 04/06/2019 14:32

@CrunchyCarrot
I believe it is possible to renew passports online and even upload a photo taken on your phone. I have recently done this for DCs passports and was amazed at how straightforward it all was. Alternatively there are various online methods for passport photo and they can be sent to you by post.

Up to half of ChUK MPs may defect to Ldems soon

(why can't they organise all defecting together ? ChUK will be wiped out in a GE)

Hazardtired · 04/06/2019 14:37

Laughing my ass off at Trump's lying. It's just tickles me the absurdity of him.

We live in interesting times.

I'm someone who didn't have photo id for a looong time - often inconvenient!

WOAH! Trump on leadership candidates: "I know Boris, I like him, I've liked him for a long time. I know Jeremy, I think he'd do a very good job. I don't know Michael. Would he do a good job Jeremy?"

Is Trump doing interviews for the job of PM? Cos it looks like.

Labour spokesperson confirms that Corbyn sought Trump meeting despite protesting against him in Trafalgar Square 🤔

“Jeremy is ready to engage with the President on a range of issues, including the climate emergency, threats to peace and the refugee crisis.“

The thing is that Trump's lying works Angry

People - especially his supporters - hear his statements, assume believe that POTUS wouldn't lie because it's so easy to fact check. But they don't fact check so that he gets away with his sound bites Angry

He is a man that lives totally in the present and never faces up to consequences - past or future. His multiple bankruptcies are proof of that. Others bear the cost of the fall-out, not him Angry

lonelyplanetmum · 04/06/2019 14:48

Oh god that press conference.

Apparently the U.K. and USA are " The greatest alliance the world has ever known"

1tisILeClerc · 04/06/2019 14:50

Like Little and Large or Ant and Dec?

Songsofexperience · 04/06/2019 14:51

Is Trump doing interviews for the job of PM? Cos it looks like.

This is sooo humiliating. How do leavers square this with their patriotic pride eh?
If I'd wanted to become American I'd have moved to the US. I didn't. I want to live in a sovereign Britain you see!

BigChocFrenzy · 04/06/2019 14:52

A taste of things to come:

Life as a US colonial possession

DGRossetti · 04/06/2019 14:53

The thing is that Trump's lying works

Only because of a complicit, sclerotic, subservient cowardly media that sucks up to him in the hope of crumbs from the table.

We're reenacting the fall of the Republic and the rise of the madness of Tiberius, Caligula (brief interlude for Claudius) and then Nero. After which it really turned to shit.

Does that make Jeremy Corbyn Caractacus ? ( no -Ed. )

And this is what it inspires me (couldn't find the proper video but you get the drift):

We need to ditch cats. Poodles are the new felines. It's poodledom all the way.

(At least poodles get to conquer the world by cross breeding so our empire fantasies can be fulfilled if we emulate poodles ability to diversify.)

lonelyplanetmum · 04/06/2019 15:06

So glad we got our poodlerinity back.

Songsofexperience · 04/06/2019 15:13

The best way to hold two fingers up to Trump (And Russia) would be to ditch Brexit. He keeps banging on about it, why do him that favour? Are voters really that keen to suck up to him? Was becoming a colony what they were voting for all along?
