The Brexit Party are doing really well in the polls. I just hope they do as well in the election.
I think their slogan should be "Tell them again".
I would like to see a clean sweep of Brexiteers but I know that is not going to happen.
I have sent off my postal vote.

This shows why I'm very concerned
I'll be voting for Molly

HS2 is largely a waste as it is only an advantage to move people. Movement of goods on the basis that it is scheduled and RELIABLE does not need to be fast.
And indeed there is a real need for more freight capacity in the south east and towards the north Midlands, which won't be solved by HS2. I am sure that a freight line could be built if the will was there, but when has the will been there?

Mistigri
FWIW I do work in manufacturing and have seen the short sightedness of managers trying to 'push peas uphill with a stick'.
If you want a super technical 'widget' the UK can probably make it. If you want 10 million of them, then make them in China.
Saving the Scunthorpe and even possibly S Wales steelworks, unless they convert to super specialised producers is a mugs game.
It is little more than paying the workers to keep them off the streets. This is not being derogatory but a sign that the work/life 'plan' needs addressing, globally. Of course those who should be considering these things are busy playing 'tiddlywinks' in Westminster.

1tisILeClerc · 22/05/2019 13:10

Isn't it time for Coppersulphate to pop back in and say she still has the hots for Farage and his vacuum*?

*Lack of plan sucks.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2019 13:16

I just cannot understand people wanting to ruin us

LouiseCollins28 · 22/05/2019 13:16

On HS2, a sizeable portion of the point of doing it is to create extra capacity, some of which can undoubtedly be used for freight. The creation of HS2 will see some passenger services migrating from the mainlines running up the West and maybe the East coasts of Britain and the capacity created can be used for additional freight traffic.

High speed rail is simply the right type to build in the 21st century I think. I don't like the vanity element or that they are starting with London - Birmingham but it is the right decision to go ahead IMO.

jasjas1973 · 22/05/2019 13:18

Won't matter Portia, those cornish cow pats are delicious! you should try some!

I'll be for Molly too.

jasjas1973 · 22/05/2019 13:24

In a small country, Hi-speed rail is a complete waste of money, a new rail line fine but we do not need 240mph trains, that run at these speeds for very short amounts of time.

We've crumbling rail infrastructure esp in the North, the billions extra spent on hi-speed is money better spent elsewhere.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2019 13:30

How about a much needed motorway for Cornwall as we don't have one

1tisILeClerc · 22/05/2019 13:39

{High speed rail is simply the right type to build in the 21st century I think.}
Fairly fast but RELIABLE is what is needed.
Trains in the North are abysmal, but a fraction of what is being spent on HS2 could transform the connections Liverpool/Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield/Hull.
Making travel fast is not environmentally sound either, as the energy needed to go fast increases rapidly. Driving at 50mph is considerably more efficient than at 70mph.
To be 'environmentally sound' people need to travel less.

jasjas1973 · 22/05/2019 13:43

Stuff that, they'd be tolls on the A30 at Lifton if i had my way lol!

Seriously, dual A38, dual parts of A39, dual A30 from Truro to Penzance and stop building all these houses where there are no jobs, it will wreck the very reasons Cornwall is a tourist destination.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2019 13:51

I'm on the Lizard so everywhere is miles away jas took me 3.5 hours to get to Exeter the other day so really I'd like my own chopper so I could flit around nonchalantly getting up to Truro and other places very quickly to go shopping Grin

1tisILeClerc · 22/05/2019 14:06

{ I'd like my own chopper so I could flit around nonchalantly getting up to Truro and other places very quickly to go shopping}

I'm sorry but in the new 'environmentally sound' UK you can only use a bicycle so buying local will be 'the thing'.

Unless you meant the stylish pushbike from the 1970's, or perhaps a big Harley Davidson and travel in style.
A Harley 'Trike' would do me for traveling in the summer.

Coppersulphate · 22/05/2019 15:06

The problem is that all the remainers on here blame everything on Brexit.
This is just scare mongering. Panic spreading.
You really need to grow up.
British Steel is not competitive and whether we are in or out of the EU will make no difference.
Is Nigel Farage also responsible for Jamie Oliver's restaurant business calling in the receiver?

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 22/05/2019 15:19

Portia - 3.5 hours! get a boat, tie it up on the Exe for free, short walk to the city centre?

Equally Copper, you are incapable of admitting Brexit is not the panacea to the UK's woes.
Steel industry experts state Brexit is the main cause for BS problems at this time but as usually facts are brexitiers Kryptonite as a PP once said.

bellinisurge · 22/05/2019 15:22

Darling @Coppersulphate . You are so sweet. It's a shame you are being hoodwinked by the snake oil salesman.
I voted Remain. I don't believe Brexit is responsible for everything. Just as, I hope, you don't believe the EU is responsible for all the ills in our country. Wink

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/05/2019 15:23

Not ALL people who voted remain on here say the same thing

In the same way that not ALL people who voted leave on here say the same thing

I really wonder why people can’t use the word SOME or even MOST

Do they like the whole my team your team thing?

1tisILeClerc · 22/05/2019 15:50

{British Steel is not competitive and whether we are in or out of the EU will make no difference.}
Maybe, maybe not, but the fact that market uncertainty CAUSED BY BREXIT has buggered 'usual business' is not helping. The fact that Greybull will be seeing the possibility of the extra tariffs further knocking it's viability are another factor. So no Brexit is not the only reason but like so many other things there is some effect.

Coppersulphate · 22/05/2019 15:52

Latest 2 polls puts the Brexit Party on 34% .

Just hope it is sustained in the election.

Why are you being such a 'knobhead'?
Serious question.

bellinisurge · 22/05/2019 15:58

Yes, and your triumphalism will only add to his appeal. What was I thinking being a one trick pony is enough to fix all the country's problems.
How could I be so naive as to think Brexit is a bit more complicated than Brexit Means Brexit? 😂😂😂😂

1tisILeClerc · 22/05/2019 16:06
