The Brexit Party are doing really well in the polls. I just hope they do as well in the election.
I think their slogan should be "Tell them again".
I would like to see a clean sweep of Brexiteers but I know that is not going to happen.
I have sent off my postal vote.

I'm being to think it's a troll as they're so determined not to listen to actual facts which contradict their baseless feelz on what will happen in a no deal scenario.

time4chocolate · 19/05/2019 19:36

The EU elections are a protest vote for Brexit as far as I’m concerned. I will vote for the Brexit party in the same way that a lot of voters who want to remain will vote Lib Dem’s (there’s a whole other thread about that). If Guy Verhofstadt wants to take the Lib Dem increase of seats in the local elections to mean the UK now, as a country, would prefer to remain then I will do my bit to show him that he may have interpreted that message incorrectly.

The EU elections have ‘jack all’ to do with manifestos (on NHS or anything else). I’ll peruse those when we have a GE.

Very true, as someone said recently, the EP elections are a proxy 2nd vote.
Its why Lab/Con have polled so badly, neither has a coherent policy.

However, should we not leave the EU, then these MEPs will be representing us for many years to come, inc BXP/UKIP with some very odd ideas, so care ought to be taken.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/05/2019 20:20

I agree jas

This is going to backfire horribly

Peregrina · 19/05/2019 20:22

It's a pity that wasn't made clear in the 2016 Referndm. Vote Leave to Wreck the NHS would almost certainly have been enough to swing the vote the other way, IMO.

Vote Leave to Wreck the NHS - great slogan for the side of a bus and a damn site more effective and cheaper than a £9m pound leaflet drop. David Cameron must be kicking himself - nevermind.

As an aside IMO the NHS was wrecked way before 2016 so that argument doesn't carry much weight with me either way.

bellinisurge · 19/05/2019 21:20

If you want to send a message to the EU how about telling them how we are going to Leave without wrecking GFA. We had our chance with WA and leave MPs were too cowardly to take it.

Coppersulphate · 19/05/2019 22:12

LeClerc,

I am not a troll.
I started this thread to celebrate with other leavers the fact that the Brexit Party are doing so well in the polls.
If that irritates you, fine.
I do not understand why you come on to a thread stated by a leaver, and then tell me I am an irritant.

I have every right to want to leave the EU. And I have every right to ignore what you write here.
If this irritates you move to another thread.
I have been consistent in supporting Leave since the referendum.
Just because I refuse to engage with your goading or listen to all the scare tactics does not make me a troll.

Do keep harping on and will will keep ignoring you.
And I will stay polite,
I refuse to insult Remainers or to be rude.

Coppersulphate, you may be polite but you are utterly, utterly pointless.

jasjas1973 · 19/05/2019 22:38

You should look at Farages political beliefs before celebrating his party, he far to the right of AFD, Orban or Le Pens FN.

Though somehow, i suspect that's all scare tactics to you too.

bengun · 19/05/2019 22:40

Why would you call a fellow human being 'utterly, utterly pointless' just because they have a different opinion from yours to how the country should be run?

What is pointless is the MN Brexit board. Possibly the most rabid remainer echo chamber on the Internet.

bellinisurge · 20/05/2019 06:17

Ah! so one person uses a phrase you don't like and that's "all" Remain voters. You read plenty of slurs by Leave voters against Remain voters but I don't call all Leave voters [fill in favourite term of contempt].
It's not my fault Leave MPs didn't have the guts to support the PM's WA and we are therefore still in the EU.

Snowjive2 · 20/05/2019 06:39

Utterly, utterly vacuous, if you prefer, bengun. In my line of work, an opinion is a judgement based on evidence. Coppersulphate has not an expressed an opinion as to how the country should be run. S/he has merely repeated (ad nauseam) a position which is based on no evidence that s/he is able to identify, and has staunchly disregarded all evidence to the contrary.

Actually, that is pointless.

1tisILeClerc · 20/05/2019 07:39

Coppersulphate
IF the 'Leave' choice did not impact very severely on the 43 million who did NOT vote for it, and the 16 million who did and possibly 1 million who did but stand to make a profit by leaving, it would be 'OK' and and acceptable.
What is NOT acceptable is that leaving will cripple the UK economy, probably permanently, be the source of considerable civil unrest and almost as important, NOT address any of the issues that led up to Brexit.
The fact that you are (supposedly) celebrating the idea of voting for NO PLAN whatsoever is truly disgusting.
If you were polite, you would at least offer some 'upside' to leaving rather than sticking you head in the sand and telling those who can see the very severe downsides of leaving that they don't deserve to be listened to.
Since you have your head in the sand, you are obviously talking out of your arse.

bellinisurge · 20/05/2019 08:41

Do whatever mad shit you want for yourself but don't drag me out via No Deal and expect me to "rejoice "

Peregrina · 20/05/2019 09:13

Seconding bellinisurge's last comment. I look forward to seeing exactly how Farage and his chums help ordinary people.

BackInTime · 20/05/2019 09:16

Nigel Farage is like the pied piper leading people down a path of no deal without any idea where they are going or how things will be when they get there. He is using every tactic in the Trump playbook slating the media, the elite, pretends to be a man of the people and tells disillusioned voters exactly what they want to hear based on very careful research. I just despair watching it all.

Coppersulphate · 20/05/2019 09:52

Snowjive,
I don't think any human being is pointless.
We may not all agree with each other but none of us are "pointless"

{Being polite and "Giving the upside" are two completely different things.}
A lot of people have been waiting 3 years to hear any 'upside' to Brexit. Maybe you are one of the few like Farage who has their money outside the UK who are making good profits for this escapade?
Meanwhile everyone else is looking forward to job losses, probably around 10% hike in average costs and years of gradual (or even not so gradual) decline of the UK.

PortiaCastis · 20/05/2019 10:23

Oh dear haven't got time to read everything (as usual) but have skim read and still can't see any upsides to Brexit or am I missing something
Back later

Me too Sad

jasjas1973 · 20/05/2019 10:48

Copper Here you have an excellent platform to tell us the short and long term benefits of Brexit.

Also, how do you feel about EU citizens who have left the UK because they fear for their long term security within the UK?

Its well documented and you cannot deny it is happening, do you feel this is a price worth paying in order to leave the EU ?

How would you feel if life had taken a different path for you and your family were forced to leave, say France (due to a Frexit vote) out of fear for your families security and safety?

Peregrina · 20/05/2019 11:36

Coppersulphate, what do you want Farage to do for you? If he manages to gets the UK out of the EU but wrecks the economy, do you still think that's a price worth paying? Or do you want to see the Tory and Labour parties destroyed?

I can't but help think back to Nazi Germany - a significant number of people thought Hitler was wonderful, but I doubt very much whether people who were living in the ruins of Berlin, Hamburg or Dresden in 1945 thought so. Nor those who found their country divided and ended up in the East.

Coppersulphate · 20/05/2019 12:15

Peregrina, it is outrageous to compare those who want to leave the EU to Nazis. I am reporting that post.

No country will be devastated by bombing when we leave.

I have no intention of engaging with remainers who ask me to explain. Why on earth should I? I could of course but you are a gang of nasty people that I have no desire to engage with.

EU national living here will have their rights protected.
