The Brexit Party are doing really well in the polls. I just hope they do as well in the election.
I think their slogan should be "Tell them again".
I would like to see a clean sweep of Brexiteers but I know that is not going to happen.
I have sent off my postal vote.

Obviously incompetent management then, because they don't feel understaffed, they can't be!

SacrebleuLondres · 14/05/2019 20:56

@1tisILeClerc

Well nothing has changed there. Who needs a plan if you believe it will all be fine?

What I find fascinating in this whole Brexit saga is this concept of Brexiteer adventurism. Bravery etc., when in fact it is the opposite. It's turning in on ourselves as if we are frightened by the big bad world out there. "It's all too complicated so let's just leave and close our eyes. It'll be fine. "

Far from bravery Brexit is an exercise in cowardice and a sign of low self confidence.

Some of the extracts from the FOI disclosures:

"Brighton and Sussex Trust says it has not experienced significant leavers returning to the EU.The number of highly paid consultants, unqualified staff (housekeeping) and qualified middle tier staff such as band 5 nurses (AHPs) recruited from the EU has improved since 2016."

"Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals did see a number of Spanish nurses leaving the trust post the referendum, but this was always their intention as the purpose of their employment was to gain further skills and return to Spain. It believes its risks relate to staff that work in the hospital but are employed via an outsourcing arrangement. It has sought further information from the contractors to assess potential risk."

"Royal Papworth says 15% of its substantive and fixed-term staff come from EU and EEA countries. Most are scrub nurses, anaesthetics consultants, radiology nurses, cardiology medical staff junior, and anaesthetics medical staff junior.Between September 18 and January 19 there was a fall in the absolute number of EU leavers. The trust has not received any intelligence from managers or staff themselves that would indicate a substantial increase in EU leavers irrespective of the outcome of the Brexit negotiations. It even held a Brexit briefing by an immigration lawyer."

"Northern Devon Healthcare Trust has not found a reduction in the number of EU nationals to date. From September 2017 to January 2019 the EU headcount has grown from 82 to 104 (including Ireland). No specific service has been identified as unduly affected by a potential future shortfall of EU nationals."

"University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire says there has been no noticeable reduction in staff as a result."

"University Hospitals Birmingham has seen a rise of 829 to 1056 of EU nationals between January 2016 and February 2019."

"Croydon Health Services has 306 EU nationals working across the trust and so far has not incurred a reduction in the number of EU nationals in the workforce. We do not envisage a problem in CUH itself although there may be an issue in the community in adult social care."

"Leeds Teaching Hospitals says no teams have identified any services that may be disproportionately affected by a shortfall in EU nationals. Total turnover of EU nationals has increased marginally from 0.85% to 1.25% (approx.)."

"Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust says there has been no material reduction in the number of EU nationals employed by the trust since Brexit, and no specific staff group or service risks identified."

"Worcestershire Health and Care says it has noted only a small reduction which has not had any specific impact of EU nationals leaving."

"Central and North West London says it has seen a rise in EU workforce from 7% to 8% in the last year. These staff are mainly nursing, AHP and medical roles."

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/05/2019 21:14

Have those trusts asked their EU staff what their plans are in the event of the U.K. leaving?

IIRC the Oxford hospitals issue is relatively recent end Feb/March. The stats the HSJ have are up until Jan 2019. You are, in a way both right. They didn’t have an issue with recruitment of EU staff when that data was published. They do now.

Coppersulphate
The 'experts' I was referencing are the European Parliament negotiators so the WA has to be signed, and is not practically in the hands of anyone in the UK.
The presence or absence of EU medics was not my discussion.

Leavers rejoice
Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/05/2019 22:20

arinova is right. Surely you can't dismiss the experts, now, can you

My nurse recruiter friend is wrong but clav is right

Ok then...I’ll stick to my expert

1tisILeClerc · 14/05/2019 22:26

Arguing the toss over the number of Europeans arriving or departing, or how many were at marches is all diversionary tactics to deflect the eyes from the shambles that is Brexit and the fact that nobody has a solid plan.

lonelyplanetmum · 14/05/2019 22:40

and the fact that nobody has a plan ... after 3+ years

Don't worry DexEU are advertising a part time role paying
£24,882 - £34,844 a year.This new appointee if recruited well sort it...

It's an "exciting opportunity for a Policy and Project Officer to play a key role in the negotiations with the EU ... as we embark upon the next phase of these to secure our future relationship. Our focus is on how the future relationship between the UK and the EU is governed, for example what the UK’s relationships with the EU institutions will be as a third country or what new mechanisms will need to be created .... We are also looking to ensure that whatever we agree with the EU is deliverable and will work effectively within the UK, including for Government, Parliament the devolved administrations, businesses and citizens.Policy and Project OfficerThe successful candidate will be in the centre of a busy team at the heart of future negotiations with the EU. "

apply~here

SacrebleuLondres · 14/05/2019 22:44

@lonelyplanetmum

How exciting.

DEXEU will be disbanded soon ... another referendum will kill it.

lonelyplanetmum · 14/05/2019 22:47

I guess it's one of the causes for rejoicing?

After three years DexEU are advertising for a couple of new part time staff to try and come up with a bit of policy..

lonelyplanetmum · 14/05/2019 22:55

On the nurse front my NHS consultant friend says what Rufus's nursing recruiter friend says.

In her hospital they have lost EU staff at a rate of knots. She says people are dying as a result as care plans can't be implemented properly.

She also says they are looking elsewhere especially Asia but also says it takes years and the staff will be of a lower level of training she says not quite as competent and trained and English not so good.

1tisILeClerc · 15/05/2019 07:22

{I was in one of the Oxford hospitals on Sunday and they don't appear understaffed to me.}

So you are a staffing expert that knows how many there should be over all the hours that a section of the hospital is open, and know that all the 'second line' (admin and whatever) is being done in a timely manner?

bellinisurge · 15/05/2019 07:28

It's all about how stuff appears, not how it is.

Stilltalkstotrees · 15/05/2019 07:45

Why would anyone rejoice about people saying they’ll vote for something that is entirely undefined?

When I pop my nose into this type of thread I often see posts complaining about ‘remainers’ calling ‘leavers’ stupid and racist, yet I never see any such posts, just patient, clear, rational explanations of the downsides of leaving the EU.

Farage is a conman - he’s in it for himself, there’s plenty of evidence out there if you look. He’s now in bed with some very dodgy people, from both ends of the political horseshoe - I’m hoping he’ll get chewed up and spat out eventually.

Have you read page 2 of this thread? Grin

borntobequiet · 15/05/2019 08:19

"Leavers Rejoice" sounds like the sort of tune to be played on an accordion, a fiddle and a drum for a Brexity Morris Dance.
(No criticism implied. I'm a fan of the Morris.)

lonelyplanetmum · 15/05/2019 08:20

Yes of course, remain voters must remain polite good losers, but three years in the winners can still goad with their rejoicing.

Stilltalkstotrees · 15/05/2019 08:47

Someone had a rant about Farage? Hardly surprising.

Latest poll:
NEW EUROPEAN ELECTIONS POLL:

BXP: 26%
LAB: 22% (-2)
LDEM: 19% (+13)
CON: 12% (-11)
GRN: 10% (+3)
UKIP: 3% (-23)

(BMG/Independent, 7-10 May, n=1541)
Changes on 2014 as no prior BMG poll to compare.

Looks like BXP has taken almost all UKIP voters plus a few Tories.

Helmetbymidnight · 15/05/2019 09:05

I find the MNers who think Brexit will be great for the environment and the NHS the most amusing.
I mean, even Brexiteer leaders don't bother pretending that.

Coppersulphate · 15/05/2019 09:30

According to the BBC News poll tracker the Brexit Party are on 30% today.

{According to the BBC News poll tracker the Brexit Party are on 30% today.}

So what is Farage's stance on signing the WA?
As one of his fans I am sure you can explain his position.

Stilltalkstotrees · 15/05/2019 09:38

According to the BBC News poll tracker the Brexit Party are on 30% today.

And you’re rejoycing why? What do you think the newly elected BXP MEPs will do for the UK? How will they enhance our stature in Europe and the wider world? How will they help domestically? What is their purpose and what are the policies they’ll be working to deliver?

PortiaCastis · 15/05/2019 09:42

What about the other 70% and yes will he sign the WA or will he crash us out without a deal and any trade deals and what about the GFA hmm so many questions without any credible answers from that little fucknugget
