The Brexit Party are doing really well in the polls. I just hope they do as well in the election.
I think their slogan should be "Tell them again".
I would like to see a clean sweep of Brexiteers but I know that is not going to happen.
I have sent off my postal vote.

We are quite capable of sorting things like this and NHS staffing on our own.
There is precious little evidence of this, given that the NHS has been in existence for 70 years. First we poached Commonwealth staff, then EU staff, then we will go back to Commonwealth staff. In the 70 years we ought to have got to the stage where we produce an excess of health care professionals so that we can export some of them to the rest of the world, and put something back into the Commonwealth which helped to give us our wealth.

{In the 70 years we ought to have got to the stage where we produce an excess of health care professionals so that we can export some of them to the rest of the world, and put something back into the Commonwealth which helped to give us our wealth}

A theme I suggested several months back, with the upside that it is a 'new' money earning activity for the UK when other industries are declining.

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:05

Hurray! If we keep ignoring legitimate questions everyone will get bored and just agree with us.

Or not.

BackInTime · 14/05/2019 18:12

Do remainers on here really think that we need big brother EU telling us what to do?

Big brother EU is not responsible for telling us what to do with the NHS, education, child poverty or most other things people like to blame the EU for. These problems are due to failures and poor decisions of the UK government. The one upside to leaving will be the fact that the UK government will have to take responsibility and stop blaming the EU for everything.

There also seems to be an illusion that by leaving the EU all our problems will magically be resolved and somehow the politicians that have demonstrated themselves to be seriously inept thus far will evolve into a competent government capable of facing the biggest challenges in a generation. I have yet to see any evidence of this.

PortiaCastis · 14/05/2019 18:22

As the nursing bursary has been removed the number of UK students applying to study nursing has dropped by a third, nothing to do with the EU and everything to do with the Tory government so we cannot train nurses if they're not applying to study due to course fees

llamawearingasombrero · 14/05/2019 18:24

coppers brexit people are just as rude. Brexit has destroyed the country and is making people poorer than ever and what's the point in being a little island isolated from the whole of Europe?

Coppersulphate · 14/05/2019 18:26

I know that the problems of the NHS have nothing to do with the EU.
It is the remainers on here that are claiming the NHS (including Oxford Hospitals....Peregrina) will virtually close down the minute we leave the EU.
Or be privatised.
Rubbish.
The EU and the NHS are not connected.

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:27

llamawearingasombrero its a very Trumpian thing - give it but can't take it.
I don't think it's an elder vs youth thing though. Nor is a Tory vs Labour thing. Or a North vs South thing. It's more complicated than that.

Coppersulphate · 14/05/2019 18:28

Llama,
In this thread it is the remainers who are rude and insulting. You said that leavers should F off.
I have been courteous and civilised throughout.
Why can't the remainers say what they want to say without insults or rudeness or both.

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:29

And it certainly isn't a rich vs poor thing. Or a uni education vs not thing. I know plenty of Leavers who are young, university educated, well off people

tiddlywinkywinkywinky · 14/05/2019 18:30

Isn't it amazing that suddenly remainers are concerned about jobs going abroad. Not much shouting about UK manufacturing moving to the EU prior to Brexit. Please stop trying to beat leavers with Honda - maybe blame the Labour Party for the monumental fuck up that wiped out the diesel car industry after encouraging the purchase of said gas guzzlers.

Honda confirms UK factory closure but says it's not Brexit-related. CEO Takahiro Hachigo said in a press conference Tuesday the decision was part of a global restructuring plan. ... Meanwhile, another official from Honda told BBC radio on Tuesday that the closure was not Brexit-related, according to Reuters.19 Feb 2019

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:30

@Coppersulphate , you are only interested in triumphalism for your own part or finding insults from others.

1tisILeClerc · 14/05/2019 18:30

European medical staff either not coming to the UK or are leaving because they are fed up of the UK government's attitude to them IS Brexit related.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/05/2019 18:30

These problems are due to failures and poor decisions of the UK government

Ive voted tory many times in the past

They single handedly fucked up education in the UK...they had no help from the EU

I will never vote for them again

But do carry on with the 'EU are such big meanies' whining because that will take attention away from the fact that a lot of the country voted for such a shower of incompetent muppets

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/05/2019 18:32

Please stop trying to beat leavers with Honda - maybe blame the Labour Party for the monumental fuck up that wiped out the diesel car industry after encouraging the purchase of said gas guzzlers

Oh and obviously many posters agree that a lot of the failures of this country are down to the government of the time not the EU

I mean that is what this is saying isnt it?

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:33

Again @tiddlywinkywinkywinky with the glory days arguments. That's all you seem interested in.
We didn't leave in 29 March because of Leave supporting MPs. We would've left if they'd backed the PM.
Nothing to do with Labour or Lib Dems or Change UK or SNP or whoever. This was a failure of the Leavers to back WA. And they have no other alternative.

1tisILeClerc · 14/05/2019 18:34

{the diesel car industry after encouraging the purchase of said gas guzzlers}
Diesel engines are more fuel efficient than petrol. Yes there is an issue that the particulates are harmful and need to be 'captured' which is a problem, but petrol engines are hardly any better.

BackInTime · 14/05/2019 18:34

DMs care home is seriously understaffed as many of the EU care workers have left. They have tried and tired to recruit locals, but they have few applications and those that do apply do not show up for interviews or if employed they leave after a short time. The owner said it is not sustainable to run the home this way, relying on agency staff, only just having enough staff to cover the minimum requirements for patients and not offering the care they should be getting.

PortiaCastis · 14/05/2019 18:36

10% of Drs and 7% of nurses are from EU Countries so yes we will miss them if they all return home.
This from HoC library has some interesting figures

researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/CBP-7783

tiddlywinkywinkywinky · 14/05/2019 18:36

I have a gas guzzler myself actually Smile

1tisILeClerc · 14/05/2019 18:38

The WA HAS to be signed before any further negotiations with the EU and yes the UK IS in a trap, that Theresa signed up to over 2 years ago.
There will be no meaningful negotiations until the WA is signed.
The ONLY alternative to not signing is to revoke.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/05/2019 18:40

Even if the Brexit party get only 25% of the vote that will still be very good and will send a strong message to those self serving idiots we call MPs and who are determined to stop Brexit.

No it doesn’t at all. If the Brexit party get 25% of the votes then all that’s happened is that Farage has renamed UKIP. From being the largest party last time they’re currently polling at 3%. If the UKIP vote had held and the Brexit Party were polling at 25/34% that would be news.

You need to be looking at the swing from con and labour going to pro Brexit parties. Which means the Brexit Party need to be significantly up on UKIP’s vote share in the 2014 election.

Like I said yesterday, looking at the polling would seem to suggest that people are mostly deserting conservative and labour in favour of remain parties.

bellinisurge · 14/05/2019 18:41

I thought that not getting a majority meant you could be ignored.

Confusedbeetle · 14/05/2019 18:49

You are brave op, this is MN! The voice of the whole country, if not the world. Don't you know you are a stupid racist who was lied to and understand nothing? Whereas MN is full of super intelligent liberal environmentally responsible angels polishing their halos. The would get a fast track to heaven if it wasn't for all the vitriol they chuck around

Coppersulphate · 14/05/2019 18:59

LeClerc,
There is another alternative which is much more appealing. It is that we sign nothing and just leave without any deal.
Let's hope that is what happens.
