C
A
B
D

It appears both sides want an extension so now thinking C - extension. Anyone else agree?

NameChangeSameRage · 10/04/2019 08:18

C.
Revoke will happen eventually. Even the DM is printing negative stories about a no-deal Brexit now.
If this was the master plan all along, it was a bloody good one.

NameChangeSameRage · 10/04/2019 08:21

Based in fact that majority of MPs voted remain in June 2016 long before any of these micro details surfaced.

The issue of NI is not a micro issue and anybody who thought about it for more than a minute would realise that leaving the EU would be almost impossible without causing a lot of trouble on the border.

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/04/2019 08:27

I'm hoping long extension. Though would rather revoke.

But from what I've heard Gov is going into overdrive for no deal

Peregrina · 10/04/2019 08:29

I am hoping that now more people are clued up about the European Parliament that more Remainers turn out to vote than did previously, and see Farage and company booted out.

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/04/2019 08:31

God I hope so too.

Have you seen the MEP performance website?

Me and DH has a heated discussion about this last night. We're both Remainers.

In my gut, not based on real facts - I think the EU will give another short extension. Nothing will be agreed by that date either. I honestly think it will go right down to the wire (day before) and faced with a stark choice of No Deal or Revoke, Parliament will choose Revoke. Civil unrest for a few weeks. Future Voter turnout reaches all time low.

DH believes it will be No Deal. He believes that Parliament should not Revoke on principle. He believes the far reaching consequences of a Revoke are much greater than I do.

Peregrina · 10/04/2019 09:15

Future Voter turnout reaches all time low.

For a lot of people, that will mean the status quo - they didn't bother before the Referendum and haven't bothered in the GE since.

NameChangeSameRage · 10/04/2019 11:38

The far reaching consequences of no deal are worse, IMO.
Revoke will in the short term lead to lots more far right type votes but I don't ultimately think they will get a huge vote share or seats in Parliament. I could of course be wrong, and the unlikely event of a far right majority parliament would be grim.

But a no deal Brexit would literally fuck the country for several generations, a revoke would fuck it for maybe a generation of angry voters.

Milicentbystander72 · 10/04/2019 11:43

I agree NameChange. That's why we were arguing about it.

Like I said, were both Remainers but DH's view it that there's no return now.

:/

mummmy2017 · 10/04/2019 13:53

If the PM rolls over, she is going to be in such shit if she calls an election... There are massive plans a foot to post Brexit candidates for as many seats as possible, for MP seats ..since votes will be from both sides of the house, predictions are we could see as many as thirty taking seats...
In a split Parliament, that means these seats count to swing the votes....oh such fun.

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/04/2019 20:34

There aren't that many Brexit candidates

mummmy2017 · 10/04/2019 20:37

There will be...

Theworldisfullofgs · 10/04/2019 20:59

I'll believe it when I see it.

HateIsNotGood · 10/04/2019 21:23

D) the pesky little feckers will end up agreeing to WA - and I hope they all find themselves out of a job too. How dare they put everyone in the UK, and so many others closely involved with the UK, through this uncertainty; it goes beyond Leave/Remain for me. They should have agreed WA weeks ago and taken it from there.

Tonsilss · 11/04/2019 10:27

The problem is that "taking it from there" is likely to mean an ERG nutter taking the country to the extreme right, with terrible consequences for most of us.

prettybird · 11/04/2019 20:38

So is the answer D Something else as Hallowe'en doesn't really count at a "Long Extension" (which was C )? Wink
