Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

Break - Theresa May has decided to put the Withdrawal Agreement alone to a Commons vote tomorrow, without the Political Declaration (1)

@tnewtondunn
This is still subject to the Speaker agreeing this afternoon, but Cabinet ministers confident that he will, as substantially different to MV2 (2)

I understand the Chief Whip is still unable to say the Govt has a majority for the WA - so PM effectively going all out to dare ERG, Labour Brexiteers and DUP to vote it down (3)

woodpigeons · 28/03/2019 14:26

Is there a mechanism for them to send up white smoke TheABC ?

RedToothBrush · 28/03/2019 14:27

Liz Bates @wizbates
Correction: This is a statement which was up on Jared's website two weeks ago when he missed the votes on extending Article 50. Has since been removed.

Mind boggled...

I'm erring towards satire, I think!

But if none of the Brexity hardline ones want the job next time (or is that only if no deal?), then who will be negotiating?!

If the IC are ignored, then how do they force a Bill, and how long does it take / what effect will it actually have?

Letwin supports the WA too. I've a horrible feeling it'll somehow squeak through.

lonelyplanetmum · 28/03/2019 14:30

Epanui- I've sent Zac blunt emails too.. but there's no point.

His father gave birth to the referendum party which then helped the misconceptions about EU membership grow. He's a hardcore no dealer and doesn't give a toss he represents one of the largest Remain constituencies by a narrow margin. His family ethos will always trump and affect on his MP prospects.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/03/2019 14:31

Maybe not satire if it's been removed. Or ill-judged / times satire given his position!

borntobequiet · 28/03/2019 14:32

There are now 231 constituencies where the number of signatures on the petition is greater than the MPs majority.

I'm really Confused now along with the rest of the country, if not world Wink

Surely the WA is even more unpalatable without the PD than with it? Confused

It still has the backstop in it - and without the reassurance of the PD that the EU, like the UK, does not want it to be in place for any longer than absolutely necessary - it is even more permanent "black and white" Confused

And Confused for good measure.

LouiseCollins28 · 28/03/2019 14:37

All very well, but how many of the signatories would have voted for the MP in question? and how many for that person's opponents already?

BiglyBadgers · 28/03/2019 14:37

I understand the Chief Whip is still unable to say the Govt has a majority for the WA - so PM effectively going all out to dare ERG, Labour Brexiteers and DUP to vote it down

Because that's worked well so far... Hmm

prettybird · 28/03/2019 14:41

There are at least a few where the number of signatories is now more than the number of people who voted for the MP, let alone the majorityShock

bellinisurge · 28/03/2019 14:41

@HunkyDory69 , I find being a general prepper helps me. Makes me far less anxious to know that, if necessary, I could hunker down for a few days - actually weeks but that's general prepper stuff not Brexit prepper stuff . Just to know that I don't need to go to the shops for a little while helps.

If the MPs have as good an understanding of the IC process as some of the journalists reporting on it, they may be feeling quite desperate by tomorrow.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/03/2019 14:47

IV, obviously. Damn my left thumb! 😂

borntobequiet · 28/03/2019 14:48

Support for Brexit seems to be generally independent of party allegiance, and petition signers are more likely to be voters, so any MP with a smallish majority and lots of constituents signing the petition might well feel rattled.

Did anyone hear Evan Davies on PM last night (around 5.50pm) talking about an increase in anxiety due to Brexit? Resonated hugely with me

Totally. Well you can't really plan anything for after [12 April] can you ? For example, it is worth me entering a (running) race in May if I don't know if I will have enough petrol to get there (or don't want to waste the petrol I have on fripperies). To be fair, I have no real reason to think petrol will be limited after Brexit, but if people start panic buying other stuff they might panic buy petrol too.

For ages we didn't know if we'd be able to fly after a no deal Brexit.

And there is a risk of civil unrest if there are major economic problems.

I'd say there's plenty to be anxious about.

Pepvixen · 28/03/2019 14:59

BigChoc I don't think it's true that Ian Dunt is only in favour of revoke and opposes anything that enables any form of Brexit. He's been consistently in favour of a soft Brexit within the single market. He said earlier today he had a lot of sympathy for the Norway type options.

Littlespaces · 28/03/2019 15:02

@ChrisLeslieMP
Next round of votes is on Monday. It’s obvious that #PeoplesVote is the route through to solution now. So much hangs on @jeremycorbyn getting his own closest allies to support this. Please email these Shadow Cabinet to support #PeoplesVote ➡️ @jon_trickett @IanLaveryMP @GwynneMP

Songsofexperience · 28/03/2019 15:04

If anything depends on old JC then we are screwed.

Littlespaces · 28/03/2019 15:08

Ha! True.
