A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

Full fact are in possession of super powers if they could levitate over London and count all those people, it would be impossible without

1tisILeClerc · 25/03/2019 19:38

It won't take long to count those on Farage's 'Leave' march though Smile.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 25/03/2019 19:39

Looked like masses of people to me, I haven't seen anything like it on the news before

bellinisurge · 25/03/2019 19:43

I think there were actually only about 39 people and they were all middle class foreigners (possibly German) paid by George Soros.
I don't believe the evidence of my own eyes because I am obviously wrong 😂

Clavinova · 25/03/2019 19:46

Clavinova
If you have children I feel very sorry for them

I spent 2 hours with my kids this afternoon after school!! Hence the gap in posting. And all day Saturday. Jeez.

I would imagine you don't care two hoots about the street cleaners Clavinova

Not normally - I felt sorry for this one - he came across as one of the downtrodden proletariat. I think that's why the Guardian posted the video - i.e. this is what a typical Leave voter looks like.

LateEaster · 25/03/2019 19:58

Side stepping the issue.

The point was, teachers brain washing the youth to hate breixit, lump all leavers as racist And present a narrow view on it.

Does this bother anyone? Even staunch remainers is this how you want future voters to be educated.

Bertrand Russell do you like democracy or so would you rather we lived in socialist hell hole utopia?

Do you want our DC to be well educated, free thinkers who make their own minds up and armed with tools to see things from both sides!

What do you want from tomorrow's children!

I do get the impression some posters literally do not care as long as they think in the right way Shock

BIWI · 25/03/2019 20:00

How come you came to witness this? And did you complain? And what was the outcome of your complaint?

For what it's worth, yes, I would have a problem with brainwashing like this - regardless of which 'side' I'm on. If, of course, it actually happened.

LateEaster · 25/03/2019 20:03

Phew! One of you is bothered by this.

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/03/2019 20:05

The desperate derailings are all so sad. We disagree with your point of view - and there's lots of us - deal with it. But FFS sake stop trying to change the subject or lie to us about the evidence of our own eyes. It just looks desperate and sad.

Does anyone have another march story to share? Help get us back on topic.

HotpotLawyer · 25/03/2019 20:09

The street cleaner wanted a second referendum though!

1tisILeClerc · 25/03/2019 20:12

{What do you want from tomorrow's children! }
I want all children to be given as many opportunities in life as possible. Meeting and making friends from all over the world, the possibility of travel and learning and appreciation of the worlds wonders.
Brexit is the most stupid and life limiting thing to do to the UK's children and if you cannot understand this then you seriously need your head testing.

{The point was, teachers brain washing the youth to hate brexit}
Yes of course, Brexit is the most divisive thing to damage our children's lives.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 25/03/2019 20:24

Phew! One of you is bothered by this

Of course we are bothered

Obviously

That's exactly why people have asked you what the governors and head said when you told them what was happening

So what did they do when you told them?

Disciplinary? Sacked?

Clavinova · 25/03/2019 20:39

The street cleaner wanted a second referendum though!
I think he implied he didn't mind - that's not the same as wanting one.

bellinisurge · 25/03/2019 20:42

One thing you struggle to find is people who don't mind whether we Leave or not.

Trekkingbeyond · 25/03/2019 20:54

Bellini so true! Everyone has an opinion on it - well I have one friend who shuts down all conversation on it so I've no idea what she thinks but that doesn't mean she doesn't feel one way or the other xx

Peregrina · 25/03/2019 20:54

Well, I was there, and I know how crowded it was, so Leavers who weren't there are are trying to convince by relaying second hand information from others who weren't their either can, in the words of one of their favourite Leavers ''Go whistle".

Tanith · 25/03/2019 21:01

I feel sorry for the British street cleaner - not sure if the Guardian are trying to portray a typical Leave voter stereotype though. So much for Remain voters claiming the environmentally friendly badge of honour. You all left your rubbish behind - poor chap.

Not as sorry as I feel for the poor emergency worker beaten up by six Leavers on their demo last month.

Clavinova · 25/03/2019 21:23

One writer and journalist (inews/the Guardian) is claiming that 2 million people attended the march on his twitter account.

Police estimate TWO MILLION marched today, asking the gov’t to put this shambles back to the people, with no incident of violence or damage.

When he was challenged by another journalist he said this;

This is the unofficial estimate to the organisers cross-checked with the stewards and aerial grid calculations. Grin

Not as sorry as I feel for the poor emergency worker beaten up by six Leavers on their demo last month.

Haven't seen that story - poor man.

Millyonthe · 25/03/2019 21:39

Fullfact says it was a crowd of between 310 to 400,000 and that included many who are not on the electoral roll. But even if it was a million, and there were a good proportion of actual voters, that is still less than the difference between the Leave and the Remain vote, which some of you think was quite a close run thing.

Sorry. I am being mean. It was a good march and if you enjoy listening to people like Heseltine, Grieve and Nicola Sturgeon it must have been a good day out.

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/03/2019 21:44

You;re not being mean. You are being pathetic. You are attempting to lie to us about something we all saw with our own eyes because you are afraid that opinions have changed and it is now you in the minority.

It's gaslighting.
It's fascistic to try and pretend that a protest movement against government policy was smaller and less important that it was - trying to make the voices of dissent inconsequential.

I would pity you for your fear and desperation, but you do not deserve the head space.

Peregrina · 25/03/2019 22:10

Since many were children, of course they were not on the electoral roll, but if Brexit goes ahead they will be the ones in 5, 10, 15 or however many years, (50 if Rees-Mogg is to be believed), will have to sort things out. Meanwhile, May, Rees-Mogg, Johnson will be either in their dotage or in the history books, and not in a flattering light either.

Millyonthe · 25/03/2019 22:10

You're right I am a fascist and fullfact.org is run by fascists.

Peregrina · 25/03/2019 22:13

Contrast that with the people who are desperate to see their Brexit implemented - the lorry protest, which was going to block all the main motorways, but ended up with a couple of lorry drivers being done for obstruction, the attempt to blockade the Brittany Ferry in Plymouth with a 'throng' of 12, and of course, those stalwarts marching, egged on by Farage, who buses in every now and again when the cameras are there, about 80 strong.

Tanith · 25/03/2019 22:14

Here is the story:

PortiaCastis · 25/03/2019 22:21

Ha I'm laughing here because a website thinks it knows if I'm on the electoral roll or not, erm how do they know who I am ? Grin
