A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

Not a great quality pic but (if you can't read it) it says Stop This Nonsense and it has boggly eyes glued around the edges.

Amazing day

Was surprised to see our coach although mixed in age was predominantly people over 60. Fair play to the couple who were around mid 70’s and couldn’t get a taxi to the station so went round cars in the service station car park to find someone to take them. They looked knackered at end of day bless them and thankfully there were spaces on the coaches to get us home and they didn’t breakdown!

Lady I was talking to on the way back said on previous March they had People shouting abuse as they went back to coaches but none this time with the exception of a Southampton taxi driver on way up.

Some US relatives saw it on TV there. They were very impressed. Magnificent.

Amazing day! We turned up without any EU paraphernalia and asked a nice man where he'd got his EU flag hoping maybe someone was selling them nearby. He said Amazon but when we seemed disappointed he gave me his EU badge! He insisted I take it and was so incredibly nice about it.

We also saw some great placards and we ran across a group of people with such a saying they had voted leave but changes their minds, which I thought was so big and brave of them!!! Not just to change their minds but to fight for their right to do so. Amazing.

It was such a peaceful crowd and such a happy day- really good for stress relief and a wonderful feeling of solidarity.

So glad we went! It was a first time for us, and quite a long way to go (Bradford), but the atmosphere was brilliant. I was a bit nervous about the potential for things to kick off given how close we now are to d-day but didn’t see any trouble and no tension in the atmosphere at all. Our three kids enjoyed it too - aged 6, 3 and 17 weeks (I was the lady breastfeeding whilst marching!). We made it from Park Lane as far as Downing Street, where we bailed as the crowds were getting very dense, we didn’t seem to stand a chance of getting into Parliament Sq and the three year old needed yet another poo!!

IceRebel · 24/03/2019 07:55

I'm disappointed that MSM are still intent on quashing the huge amount of people who turned up yesterday. This morning a dogs bollocks of piece in the DM reckons there were less than 130,000 of you.

Should the same apply to yesterday’s rally, there might have been as few as 120,000 on the streets.

Fab day.

Exhausted after yesterday, but what a fantastic, peaceful atmosphere.

Very very well done everyone :) Especially to those with long journeys and those who kept going through pain and discomfort.

All night long I've had music ringing in my ears, from when all around suddenly joined in singing along to one of the sound systems.

Lots of water for us all today!

Apparently Peter Bone has said it wasn't really a march. It was just a walk. Confused

IceRebel · 24/03/2019 09:24

it wasn't really a march. It was just a walk.

Walk, march, run, shuffle, who cares, better than getting on a bus Halo

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/03/2019 09:25

It was quite hard to actually march, given how rammed we were. After a few hours on Park Lane, it took some persuading to make my legs move forward at all Grin

There were so many of us we couldn't go anywhere, so it was more of a take a stand situation, if anything.

PostNotInHaste · 24/03/2019 09:37

We shuffled a lot of the way. Everyone was considerate though. Was completely packed going past Downing Street but there was a big group of people trying to go the other way which could have gone pear shaped but people and buggies got back through with no incident.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 24/03/2019 09:44

Walk, march, run, shuffle, who cares, better than getting on a bus

Abso-fucking-luteley right

CandidCat · 24/03/2019 10:10

What a lovely, convivial atmosphere yesterday. We couldn't get over how polite everyone was - very British! Never heard so many people apologise for slightly jostling another person. Grin

dimsum321 · 24/03/2019 10:16

I am totally totally gutted I couldn't go as I was working. Thank you to every single person that went represented me.

I was there in mind and spirit and got told off all day for constantly checking the newsletter on my phone but I didn't care and kept on.

If there is another march I am cancelling everything and will be the first one there.

cherin · 24/03/2019 10:34

Very spiteful piece in the Fail casting doubts on the numbers and sneering at the crowd.Charlotte Gill writes in the Daily Mail

It was a great day.
When we got to Parliament Square it was gone 5pm and there were still people behind us.

Tavannach · 24/03/2019 10:40

Oops, missed the link out!

PortiaCastis · 24/03/2019 10:41

it wasn't really a march it was just a walk

Ah but far better than a critical bum shuffle from an armchair

Trekkingbeyond · 24/03/2019 10:47

I feel quite tearful today - yesterday was so amazing but I do feel as though it was our last hurrah. Reading about the lady with 78 year old parents going to their first march has made me proper cry.

Peregrina · 24/03/2019 10:48

It wasn't even a walk at times, just a shuffle and a standstill, but I don't need to read the Daily Mail to know that the people I saw were real people. Sounds as though the Leavers are a bit rattled.
Remind me about the throngs at the Plymouth protest!

prettybird · 24/03/2019 10:53

Don't give the Mail the satisfaction of a click Hmm
