A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

I voted leave and have regretted it every single day, am fed up of hearing about the 17.4, I was one and have changed my mind. I am so proud of everyone who marched today, would have been there if not for work #remainernow

Just home, dear God what a day. Amazing, emotional, tiring yet incredible. Michael Heseltine was so moving..... going to read the thread now and see how you all got on xx Power to the People!! xx

Thanks for starting this thread badkitten.

I marched in October and agree with everyone who’s saying this one was much bigger. I joined at the same point as last time and at the same time. In October I made it into Parliament square in time for most of the speeches - couldn’t get near the place this time.

Glad everyone had such a positive experience. Let’s hope they are taking note. At least we will know we did what we could.

lonelyplanet my DH has Parkinson’s- your post made me very teary.

So lovely to meet you and your family Chevvy.

I actually thought there were many more younger people this time

3 years on ... 12 year olds are now 15 year olds; 15 year olds can now vote ....

thanksamillion · 23/03/2019 21:29

DH and DC just home and had an amazing day. They're scouring all the photos online as apparently they were sat on a wall just before Downing Street with flags as capes and lots of people took pictures of them from behind with the capes flowing. Not found any yet! Well done everyone who went.

wherearemychickens · 23/03/2019 21:31

Oh Post, glad you made it! I saw your posts about the coach earlier in the day and was hoping you would!

wherearemychickens · 23/03/2019 21:32

Does anyone have a link to Heseltine's speech? I've seen several people refer to it as being great.

Just hobbled through the front door.

That march was electric. I had so much fun. People as far as I could see - chanting, singing, dancing, talking, blowing Viking horns, trumpets and riding unicorns. I even saw Elvis Presely. Grin

I made it into a photo in a newspaper, but obviously can't tell you which one.

TalkinPaece · 23/03/2019 22:11

Hezza for PM.
We did non see him this afternoon. But that speech was amazing.

Littlespaces · 23/03/2019 22:17

I walked next to a couple who have had a lot of racism directed at them and he asked if he could keep my placard as a happy memento of England.

I gave it to him and they hugged me. So emotional.

wherearemychickens · 23/03/2019 22:21

Thanks for the link - good stuff!

RhubarbCrumbled · 23/03/2019 22:32

Just heading home. It's been an awesome day! Thank you all for coming along and making me happy to join in too.

Just before I go to bed- thank you to all of you who went on that march. Sadly my back would not let me go but I was with you every step.

On the train home now, I met up with friends afterwards, they were working today so couldn't march. Tired but feeling peaceful.

KizzyWayfarer · 23/03/2019 23:26

A couple of Facebook friends of mine have posted that police estimates are now 1.5-2 million.

Unescorted · 24/03/2019 00:29

Just home … That march was huge. Much larger and more tightly packed than October's. We only got as far as Green Park Tube before having to turn back to get to our coach in time to get back. My 78 yo parents were a little tired by then so we needed to leave in good time.

We got stuck behind the flat banner too.... but so glad we made it and were counted. It was my parent's first ever protest march

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/03/23/peoples-vote-campaigners-march-london-demanding-public-given/

Both hilarious and rage-inducing from the Telegraph. The accusations that the numbers have been inflated turn out to be quotes from a couple of Tory MPs that they've dug up, who wouldn't be surprised if the numbers were too high because they don't like the People's Vote campaign. Oh, and democracy or something.

stayathomegardener · 24/03/2019 01:14

Queued from 12 for two and a half hours just to get to the start, then shuffled for three hours to get around half way.

Despite missing all the speeches and only seeing on giant billboard in the far distance it felt like we made a difference.

DS and I were there! Managed to meet up with my dear friend (who is an EU citizen and who has been very hurt by this whole business) and her mates, who had sensibly picked a meeting point near Bond St tube which meant we all found each other and could march together..ish.

It was absolutely massive, have never seen anything like it. And I quite liked the fact that there was so much sort of overspill, so you could mostly just trot along the sides and filter in and out while keeping going (I am... not brilliant in large crowds and neither is DS).
We moved off from our meet point at about 1pm and DS and I bailed out at St James' Park around 4pm because he suddenly lost the ability to handle any more and we both really needed to find the loo. We then hung out in the park, discussing birds, for an hour or so and pretty much everywhere we looked there were people with flags, stickers, placards etc. Amazing warm, friendly, all-in-it-together vibes all round.
We'd thought about trying to catch up with friends in whatever pub they'd gone to, but decided against it when it occurred to me that we could head towards home and that I had enough money to take us both to the toby carvery for an early-ish tea.

And my throat hurts after yelling 'What do we want? PEOPLE'S VOTE' quite a lot.
Oh and here is my banner.
