A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

Take note Treeza; Tony Blair (a considerably more astute politician than you) ignored a similar sized march showing what 'the people' actually wanted, and see how badly that went for him and his party.

DippyAvocado · 23/03/2019 19:47

Why is BBC being so arsey?

I suppose we should consider it a bonus they even reported it at all.

Any leavers been on the thread yet to tell us it was 1 million French tourists doing the march?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/03/2019 19:54

Well done everyone!!!!!! What an amazing day :) I've just got home.
It did take us literally hours to get off Park Lane and then we shuffled along very slowly fr most of it with some dancing thrown in.
So many families there, absolutely peaceful.

Feet up now. Knackered Grin

It was much much bigger than the last march and bigger than the Iraq war one too. I've not ever been in a march that has been so packed.

cardinal my MP was casting doubt on the numbers and rather than engage with that nonsense I made the same point as you!

CourageCallsToCourage · 23/03/2019 19:56

Big thanks to lonely for taking me under her wing for the afternoon, it was lovely to meet you, and bees and born as well. What a day! I'll have to see if I can watch the speeches, sounds like they were really good.

Sitting in a pub by the bus station now with a well earned glass of wine. I'm catching up on the Twitter commentary but keep tearing up. I'm so, so glad I came.

I particularly liked the small boy we were near for a while who was scrambling onto every lamppost he could find and hollering 'Bollocks to Brexit' at the top of his lungs Grin

Magnificentbeast · 23/03/2019 19:59

Well done Marchers! I wish I had been there.

I’m having a well-earned G&T.

I’m amazed at how big the march was. I’ve never seen anything like it. I noticed that the policing was done with an extremely light touch - I barely even registered that there was a police presence. Which was entirely appropriate given the calm, patient and friendly nature of the march.

It...was...fab...Wine...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Pluginwall · 23/03/2019 20:13

Well done to everyone who marched

frumpety · 23/03/2019 20:19

Bluejag Second referendum , it wasn't and still isn't the first. All this utter rubbish about a first is nonsense, you may have not been eligible to vote in the first one but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Smile

Jason118 · 23/03/2019 20:22

If I can, I do. Today, I didGrin

TheDogsMother · 23/03/2019 20:29

We were speaking to some other marchers on the train. They had been to the previous Brexit one and Iraq marches too. They said this was by far the biggest.

Songsofexperience · 23/03/2019 20:30

So glad I came too! And I had my 19 yr old DS with me.
We got a few approving smiles for our poster. It was a lovely atmosphere. Shame I didn't get to meet anyone from here irl though.

cherin · 23/03/2019 20:38

Anyone from Lincolnshire? :-)

Peregrina · 23/03/2019 20:40

Got home at 8pm.

The coaches leaving Oxford were full before they got out of the city. Got to Marble Arch at 1:15 and started marching and finally got to Parliament Square by 4:45 pm, so missed all the speeches. Stayed in Parliament Square for 15 minutes for a rest and still at 5 pm people were coming into the Square and many will have peeled off beforehand.

Caught the coach back to Oxford just after 6 and that too was packed out with returning marchers. So it was most definitely much bigger than last time.

Now about Farage's march.......

NigellasGuest · 23/03/2019 20:41

Oh wow I just watched Hezza's speech on YouTube- gave me goosebumps!

teaisabrew · 23/03/2019 20:42

Hezza brought down Thatcher

IceRebel · 23/03/2019 20:42

Now about Farage's march.......

You mean coach trip. Halo

colouringinpro · 23/03/2019 20:43

Hezza's speech was like nothing else. A true statesman. It was sincere, powerful and actually very moving. Made a lots of our current MPs look like second hand car dealers.

Runningintothesunset · 23/03/2019 20:44

What an amazing day! Just home now, happy and exhausted.

So many people, standing up and being counted Smile

NigellasGuest · 23/03/2019 20:48

I've always liked Hezza, (I'm old) and Ken Clarke. I'm a Tory but have donated to the Independent Group, that kind of thing.

TheClitterati · 23/03/2019 20:51

Fantastic day. For all the many protesters, I've rarely seen central london so calm.

Every pub, cafe, restaurant, etc on all the surrounding streets in central london was chokka too, of people taking a break etc. Incredible. So many people but very calm and orderly. Nice.

Fab footage of the route here:

PostNotInHaste · 23/03/2019 20:57

Very glad to have been despite a dodgy start involving a broken down coach, hard shoulder of motorway and a lot of time at a service station. Looked like we were going home at one point but a fair number of us managed to get to a train station eventually and into London.

We joined at Trafalger Square and got down to Parliament Square. Was very heartening to receive messages from family in Europe saying they were following it on their news channels.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/03/2019 21:00

That took dedication Post, well done for not giving up!
