A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

@LarkDescending that's a contradiction in terms. It's the death of democracy as the first referendum hasn't even been implemented. We live in an upside down world. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

MERCI MARCHERS

How wonderful to read you. I feel so proud of you . Thankyou . I hope so much that this will make a difference on a political level. It has definitely made a difference on a social and personal level for me here in France. I Have been talking all day to my French colleagues about you all and the marching process. They are proud of you too and join with me to say they are thinking of you.

Well done everyone!!
Wish I could have been there. You were all indeed a part of history today!

PortiaCastis · 23/03/2019 18:35

Now on train back to Cornwall wow such a great time it was brilliant and overwhelming and the people thousands and thousands everywhere. I will never forget this day ever and people's kindness to this crazy cornish maid who hadn't a clue especially the lovely couple who walked with me back to Paddington, will get home about 1am I think but well well worth it

Bollocks to Brexit and I went for dd

BlueJag · 23/03/2019 18:36

@Bearbehind we aren't afraid of a second vote. We are appalled at the complete disregard of the first referendum that hasn't been implemented.
We the 17.4 want to leave the EU. We haven't changed our mind.

"The most poignant thing for me was an elderly man who looked like he had Parkinson's or something similar. He was just determinedly but with clear bravery and difficulty putting one foot deliberately in front of another with his family supporting him."

WOW ! What courage.

On the coach home, hope to be back by 1 am ish. Knackered but happy and so impressed with how friendly and nice everyone was. Hearts not hate .

lonelyplanetmum · 23/03/2019 18:37

The BBC's reporting of it is annoying me. First they called it 'tens of thousands', but it's now up to 'hundreds of thousands' with a snide little qualifier about the organisers stating it was over 1 million but they couldn't verify that. Arseholes.

We were so annoyed by that.
So very annoying 10s of thousands.Ha bloody ha. It was rammed- between 1.3 and 1.8 million at a guess.

The state broadcaster even said it has been 'reported' at over a million. It was bloody huge.

Depressing to come home after the uplifting solidarity but then to read that likelihood of no deal is still being put at 80%.

HazardGhost · 23/03/2019 18:37

Well done to everyone on the thread.

And a huge thank you, today was the first day in ages that the hum of anxiety shut the F up because you all went out, traveled near and far, to do something. It's been a respite! And I hope everyone's feet recover quickly.

To singing and chev ❤ whenever they check in!

BramblyHedge · 23/03/2019 18:38

I went on my own today and went to the last one (with family). This was definitely bigger. Such a great atmosphere.

We are bloody exhausted! It was insanely packed and took ages to get going from where we were halfway up Park Lane. And yet so cheerful, good-natured and friendly. We didn’t get to Parliament Square until after 4:30 and people were still coming.

We marched under the white rose of Yorkshire, with appropriate placards Smile

GroovieGazelloo · 23/03/2019 18:41

"We the 17.4 " might have changed. Why not check it out in a democratic PV eh Wink.

dreichuplands · 23/03/2019 18:42

bluejag this really annoys me, you can state that you haven't changed your mind but you can't talk for every person who voted leave.
I know one person who assumed that remain would win and they could safely have a small protest against the EU without anything changing, they would change their vote. I also know people fed up with being ignored by governments who wouldn't change their vote.
May does not know what I am thinking.
You cannot know what each leave voter was or is thinking.

WorriedMutha · 23/03/2019 18:44

We took a tube back to Green Park at about 4.30 and the march was still trailing there, when we'd already heard most of the speeches on the Whitehall screen. Incredible. Bigger than the last two marches.

67chevvyimpala · 23/03/2019 18:45

Just home.

Amazing day.

Espoleta · 23/03/2019 18:45

Just got home and this one seems MUCH bigger than the last.
It was far slower going than last time too! (More of a shuffle than a march really!)

GroovieGazelloo · 23/03/2019 18:47

"Depressing to come home after the uplifting solidarity but then to read that likelihood of no deal is still being put at 80%."

When I signed the petition on Thursday morning there were only 15,000 signatures Lonely.

I nearly gave into the "what's the point ?" thought. And look now.
I'm so proud of you all. Hope you have a lovely evening .
Tomorrow's another day. Star Wine Star

durgha · 23/03/2019 18:48

More varied age groups than last time and very dense on the streets. Calm, friendly and joyful.

Dohangoversgetworseasyougetold · 23/03/2019 18:49

dreichuplands - Indeed. One of my friends voted Leave as a protest vote because he was pissed off that day about the hoops he was having to jump through to get his boyfriend (who comes from a non-EU country) to join him in the UK. His reaction the following morning: "Fuuuuck! I didn't think Leave would bloody win. I've really fucked up, haven't I?".

DippyAvocado · 23/03/2019 18:49

More varied age groups than last time

It was great to see so many younger people this time, in their teens and twenties.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2019 18:50

Well done to everyone that marched.
I'm sorry I couldn't come up but I was there in spirit.
I know someone who has gone up.
Stay safe.

MockerstheFeManist · 23/03/2019 18:51

What the MSM Say:

Sky - 'One million people' on march to demand second EU referendum.
ITV - One million people are estimated to have marched through London calling for the public to be given the final say on Brexit.
CNN - Anti-Brexit rally: Tens of thousands marched through central London on Saturday demanding a second referendum. Organizers claim that 1 million people took to the streets of the British capital today. CNN has not been able to verify this figure and London's Metropolitan Police are not commenting on crowd estimates.
BBC - Hundreds of thousands of people have marched in central London calling for another EU referendum, as MPs search for a way out of the Brexit impasse. Organisers of the "Put It To The People" campaign say more than a million people joined the march before rallying in front of Parliament.

GroovieGazelloo · 23/03/2019 18:52

"We marched under the white rose of Yorkshire, with appropriate placards "
This warms the cockles of my heart Element. I'm from Yorkshire and I was getting despondent that northerners had down tooled. GrinStar
