A thread for those of us on the march today :)

Weather still looking good, (perhaps, possibly, even some sunshine?) temps around 12-14, a little gusty at times, cooling off in the evening, so bring an extra jumper if you haven't set off.

Travel safely and see you at the march!

It's important to show that TM doesn't speak for all of us and isn't on our side. You have to at least acknowledge 1m people marching, even if you don't agree with what they're saying!

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 23/03/2019 17:22

We arrived at Hyde Park Corner at 12 and it took an hour and a half to get to the start. We then got stuck behind a huge banner being carried flat for the helicopters so didn't get to green park till half three. I'm afraid we gave up then as so needed a drink and food and the rally was already under way.

Sad not to have finished but glad to be there.

OublietteBravo · 23/03/2019 17:23

I’m on the train heading home, and I’m exhausted. But very glad I went. I felt a bit tearful when I got to the end of Pall Mall and they were playing “ode to joy” over the speakers.

TalkinPaece · 23/03/2019 17:25

It was excellent

Dohangoversgetworseasyougetold · 23/03/2019 17:29

Fail to respond to the concerns of a million people, and that will be your legacy, as Tony Blair found out.

LarkDescending · 23/03/2019 17:33

Amazing day. I hope Michael Heseltine’s speech has been recorded for posterity; it was very powerful.

MrsPatmore · 23/03/2019 17:50

It was a very humbling day - to see so many people, young and old and all different races uniting together. The speeches were very rousing - I just hope it does some good. Surely, with this March and the 4.5 million who have now signed the petition, the Government needs to take decisive action to avert a no deal disaster.

Helmetbymidnight · 23/03/2019 17:50

Just got back - what a privilege to be a part of it.

I joined at Trafalgar Square and it went seamlessly. Over 50 people in wheelchairs joined there. Brilliant reading all the placards, chatting to the people, and when we went past Downing Street, the boos and the hisses. Wow.

There were a few groups singing, 'Where's Jeremy Corbyn...' too.

SleepDeprivedCabbageBrain · 23/03/2019 17:51

It was so good! Amazingly good-natured and friendly. Brilliant placards. We cleaved off a bit early because the young kids in our group were getting a bit too tired. But I'm buzzing now.

lonelyplanetmum · 23/03/2019 17:52

Well on way back still.Managed to coordinate quite a few friends including three lovely MNetters.

That march was much bigger than the last one. Definitely significantly over 1million - the numbers stretching back along Piccadilly were huge and solidly log-jammed ahead.

The most poignant thing for me was an elderly man who looked like he had Parkinson's or something similar. He was just determinedly but with clear bravery and difficulty putting one foot deliberately in front of another with his family supporting him. It was so moving.

Meet0nTheledge · 23/03/2019 17:53

What an afternoon. I walked from Waterloo to Trafalgar Square, arriving at 1 just before marchers started arriving. Joined in, went down to Parliament Square, what an atmosphere. After the speeches I needed to walk back along the route, still huge crowds marching.

Brilliant day.

Peaceful, huge turnout. Some wonderful placards.

iwunderwhy · 23/03/2019 18:04

They'll undercount protestors... they always do!

Pangur2 · 23/03/2019 18:07

We went straight to Parliament Square (parked in Vauxhall) and got there just in time for the speeches. We were so lucky! Sandi Toksvig was amazing, as was Steve Coogan and his giant Tweet. Michael Heseltine and Nicola Sturgeon's speeches were great. It was amazing feeling like part of history!

IceRebel · 23/03/2019 18:10

They'll undercount protestors... they always do!

I saw someone on twitter earlier who commented it's a few thousand at best. Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/03/2019 18:11

We didn't get to parliament Square until long after 5pm despite starting near the beginning. No idea how that happened! I've never seen a march like it!

I cannot help but compare TM's recent anti-parliament whinge to Michael Heseltine's barnstorming speech and feel that things have really gone down hill in the politician department.

Monst3ra · 23/03/2019 18:18

What an amazing day! Such a brilliant atmosphere and so good to be among like minded people. Didn't make it to traflagar, had to break off around 4:15 to make it back to our coach.

Apileofballyhoo · 23/03/2019 18:19

The most poignant thing for me was an elderly man who looked like he had Parkinson's or something similar. He was just determinedly but with clear bravery and difficulty putting one foot deliberately in front of another with his family supporting him.

That brought tears to my eyes, Lonely.

Shambalawadeewadee · 23/03/2019 18:19

Veeeeery long day but great. Peaceful, some excellent placards and a phenomenal amount of people. Having a nice cup of tea at home now proud that we were part of it, showing parliament how strongly people feel. There were people there from all over the country, all ages, nationalities, it really was a microcosm of GREAT Britain.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/03/2019 18:24

The BBC's reporting of it is annoying me. First they called it 'tens of thousands', but it's now up to 'hundreds of thousands' with a snide little qualifier about the organisers stating it was over 1 million but they couldn't verify that. Arseholes.

OublietteBravo · 23/03/2019 18:25

I’m glad to be home. What a day!

Just got back and need to soak my aching feet!

Seemed much bigger than the last one. Took 3 hours to get from bottom of Park Lane to Whitehall. Couldn't get anywhere near Parliament Square (packed solid at Downing Street), so went and had a picnic in St. James' Park, just as the sun broke through. Like the last 2 large marches, God seems to be a Remainer.

Great to have seen so many wonderfully different people there, all ages, all nationalities, from all over the social spectrum. And how creative are those placards.

At the end of Pall Mall, Led By Donkeys had put up one of their mobile displays with the various lies spouted by the leading Brexiteers. The they brought up one from Jeremy Corbyn, which was blank Grin.

Now I need a glass of wine (and my slippers Blush)

wonderwoo · 23/03/2019 18:30

I was not well enough to be there today. Thank you to everyone who went. You did us proud. Feels very emotional to be looking at all those amazing pictures. And to see Donald Tusk's tweet.
