Just wrote an intro and wiped it. So this is as quick as I can sum up.

EU response is extension to 22nd May if May passes her deal by 29th March

Or an unconditional extension to 12 April which could be extended with a plan and understanding to take part in EU elections.

This isn't what may wanted. It gives her less time and leverage

It opens up the possibility of her being ousted as PM in the next couple of days. Graham Brady asked her to quit on Monday. Remain Cabinet ministers are threatening to quit if May whips a vote to support no deal.

The talk is May has indeed flipped to supporting no deal with many think she's pretty much gone full on Colonel Kurtz.

The EU are in effect supporting parliamentary sovereignty and are being incredibly reasonable.

May now has to decide whether to accept.

The whole situation looks explosive and likely that one half of the cabinet or the other are on the brink of walking. And May's power is so shattered.

However she remains the gatekeeper and as it stands if she's hell bent on no deal, it will be extremely difficult for Parliament to prevent that.

I’m pretty sure that hideous coat is in 2 parts.

Part sleeping bag, part fleece.

Lonely, I posted yesterday about why I don't agree that the change of date is enough to make the WA substantially different as it doesn't go to its content. And until there is a substantial change to it, it can't be brought back (and in this instance it's the WA, not the accompanying motion, which has to change.

With regards an amendment / motion, I think this can be significantly re-worded, as Bellini says.

GroovieGazelloo · 23/03/2019 07:30

I'm thinking of all marchers and feeling very proud of you. Thankyou for getting up and being there.
I hope you have a lovely time. Take care of yourselves and sport those red toothbrushes !!

GroovieGazelloo · 23/03/2019 07:33

Petition nearing the 4 million mark this morning !Grin

Trekkingbeyond · 23/03/2019 07:34

Mother it really is very peaceful and extremely slow moving, you can hop on and off the pavement if the desire takes you. Take care and see you all later! God what an emotional day..

LonelyTiredandLow · 23/03/2019 07:36

Thanks @NoWord - I missed a fair bit yesterday tbh!

TheMShip · 23/03/2019 07:36

Delurking to wish all the marchers good luck! I'm stuck in Scotland with a 3yo who's been vomiting since Thursday night, but will be cheering you all on from our "war room" (lounge scattered with large bowls...).

LonelyTiredandLow · 23/03/2019 07:43

Smurf coat gets a raised eyebrow here too. Not keen on 3/4 length arms at all and it's not the most flattering shape. I think it must be her Easter Range.

Still she could wear a grass skirt with coconut shell bikini top if she would going to offer PV or Revoke for all I care.

GeistohneGrenzen · 23/03/2019 07:44

My first thought when I heard about the two coats was something about 'turncoat' but not quite sure how to justify that.

Good luck to all the marchers today and stay safe. And enjoy the opportunity of being in the company of like minded people! Flowers

I've a hospital appointment and will be wearing my (rather small) EU button badge which says 'don't blame me I voted remain' - I wouldn't dare drape myself in my EU flag because although the hospital staff would doubtless be fine about it I would feel very vulnerable physically on the 20mile bus journey there... Sad

Looking forward to seeing any pics taken on The March!

Love to you all x

On C4 news Anna Soubry said they've only just realised that Indicative Votes will only be able to amend the Political Declaration, not the WA.

So even if they do these votes they still have to pass the WA. So is the idea that MPs will be more likely to pass the WA is the PD is different?

Or is the idea that the indicative Votes will determine what a long extension will be based on eg. Implementing a people's vote?

All seems a bit unrealistic to me? Am a tad confused. Anyone explain it for me?

GeistohneGrenzen · 23/03/2019 07:49

I like your selfie 2beesornot2bees You certainly look the part Grin

Delurking after almost 3 years to say thank you to all the regular posters on this thread and good luck to all attending today. Would love to be there with you if circumstances had allowed but am with you all 'in spirit' most definitely.

"On C4 news Anna Soubry said they've only just realised that Indicative Votes will only be able to amend the Political Declaration, not the WA"

IDIOTS

That's what I was very afraid of:
that MPs think they can modify the WA

Hopefully Soubry's statement means not just that she and a few others had this lightbulb moment, but that those organising them and (almost) all MPs now realise this

wherearemychickens · 23/03/2019 07:56

I'm feeling positive for the first time in ages this morning - feels so good to be actively doing something! (Need to get cracking on the placard though!). Full on respect to everyone travelling long distances.

ElenadeClermont · 23/03/2019 07:56

Thank you to all the marchers. Have a wonderful sunny day! 🌞

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 23/03/2019 07:58

I was more intrigued by the raciness of Theresa May's skirt than her ubiquitous 'lucky' coat.

(Haven't anything of more substance to add, sorry!)

Just thought I would share a story - just moved house, and had my handyman round. He has done little jobs for me for about 6 years and we have got to know each other well. He is semi-retired, quite thoughtful, I wouldn't describe him as incredibly sophisticated- but has been really interested in my experience of living in different countries.
Anyway DH also at home as he has been travelling all week (well-planned trip with moving and all😜). They were hanging a big picture together and I hear the subject of brexit come up (I completely freaked out as I had pegged handyman as a leaver - husband later told me handyman brought it up) ...... anyway.....he (handyman) is completely devastated by the whole process, deeply deeply regrets his vote. Said that he believed they would have a plan, that it would be better. He said it's just all an embarrassment the way "we" look. It's hard to put into words, but the sadness he obviously feels about it is palpable.

I often feel very angry about leave voters (it's hard not too when they are on the local forums still spouting lies and rhetoric - apparently it's all project fear as we can trade under WTO rules 😳) - and then you talk to someone like my handyman- well at the moment I am just so sad...... but I am sure I will see something about bojo or Farage and that will be turn it into white hot anger......

One thing in my conversation with him, that made me think, was he was quite disparaging of the Scottish - particularly the SNP ( sorry pretty bird et al). Anyway it made me think of the press coverage around the independence ref- which was v negative. There has been talk of how the anti-EU sentiment has been a slow creation by disingenuous politicians and press. Has it been the same in England against the Scottish?- or more particularly around those wanting to have a fair say, for their country to be fairly represented and not an afterthought to English politicians?
It just is interesting- when we are so passionate about freedom of the press, but some sectors of the press have actually slowly creating divisions in society......
