How will society respond if we crash out on the 29th March?

The clock continues to tick its relentless way until March 29th.
If the votes next week don't secure a deal and the EU doesn't agree an extension of any length so we crash out, how will society respond? How do you see the future of the UK over the next year?

Personally I am worried but holding on to a small amount of hope.

I see the new temporary customs duties have been announced. How does that help your profitability?

you tho I'm alright Jack

I paddle my own canoe and look after myself as I know others will not do it for me. Get the impression there are a few on here that think the World owes them.

The difference is that you want to create the situation that causes high unemployment, without a care for the people who will suffer greatly

Many of my older relatives choose not to work as they are better off on benefits.

There are communities that were deeply damaged by Thatcher's policies and have never recovered

I know. I am from the North East of UK and many of the mining villages are ghost towns. However, some would say the upturn in UK economy since the removal of trade union power justified Thatcher's action.

At end of the day you can't please everyone. If a policy results in UK being better off overall then the policy is correct in my view.

sell off of council houses, to boost the numbers of property owning Tory voting people

Selling off council houses so that more people owned their own home was a sly move by Thatcher. Not only did it make people feel good it also put them in debt.

If someone is renting and they become unemployed their rent will be paid by the state. However, if someone has a mortgage and they become unemployed the state will not pay their mortgage. So they stand to lose a lot. Hence less likely to quit their job or go on strike.
