How will society respond if we crash out on the 29th March?

The clock continues to tick its relentless way until March 29th.
If the votes next week don't secure a deal and the EU doesn't agree an extension of any length so we crash out, how will society respond? How do you see the future of the UK over the next year?

Personally I am worried but holding on to a small amount of hope.

And EBRD stands for? Remind me how you voted again?

“Crashing Out With No Deal” doesn’t mean what the vast number of Brexiteers think it does - we won’t be jumping ship and sticking two fingers up to the EU if there is no deal.}

Jumping ship in the sense that you have jumped overboard into a sea full of sharks and the ship has now disappeared completely over the horizon. Technically the UK will be nothing, all legal treaties with the EU and trade agreements with 70 countries cease to exist.
Only because the EU are not 'mean' to the UK they have offered a limited time 'lifebelt' so that planes and trucks and a number of other 'handy' things can continue, but only for 9 months to a year and any can be withdrawn whenever the EU feel like it before this time is up.

BeersTonight2000 · 20/03/2019 08:56

E = European
B = Bank
R = Research
D = Development

EBRD is funded by 67 different Countries

I voted leave as I think future generations will be better off.

SparklySneakers · 20/03/2019 08:59

In what ways will future generations be better off?

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 20/03/2019 08:59

Voted Leave but happy to take advantage of another country's membership of the EU? Not very impressive.

FishesaPlenty · 20/03/2019 09:05

R = Research

Try again.

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 09:05

"I voted leave as I think future generations will be better off."

And yet you have no evidence for why you think this.

BeersTonight2000 · 20/03/2019 09:27

but happy to take advantage of another country's membership of the EU

Not every country that is geographically Eastern Europe is an EU member.

And yet you have no evidence for why you think this

It all comes down to opinion and perception. Bit like the Stock Market. Some sell gold because they think the price will fall in the future. Likewise some buy gold because they think the price will rise in the future. Not possible for the buyer and seller of the same gold on the same day to be correct, but both of them are going with their instincts.

SparklySneakers · 20/03/2019 09:30

So, how will they be better off. What's your perception?

OP posts:
BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 09:30

Going on instinct?

Its gone well so far hasn't it?

All the predictions of the leave camp came true.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2019 09:55

Going on instinct = reading tea leaves.

bellinisurge · 20/03/2019 10:19

@BeersTonight2000 , if you work for a German company you are taking advantage of whatever legal arrangement the E European country has with the EU. Because Germany is in the EU. So yes, you are taking advantage of another country's EU membership.
Pretty shocking that you don't realise this.

BeersTonight2000 · 20/03/2019 10:56

Leave has not happened yet. So not possible to say whether or not it is going as predicted.

German company operates worldwide not only in western and Eastern Europe. Has operations in USA and Asia.

Better off as live in a country that makes its own laws, is not denied cheaper goods and services from elsewhere to protect EU profits, no need to pay further subscriptions to the EU.

UK was an independent Island for a long time and once the empire spanned the globe. Seemed to do better before EU came along.

People play the lottery in hope they win.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2019 10:58

You know fuck all about politics, history or economics.

bellinisurge · 20/03/2019 11:03

German company does business worldwide via Germany's membership of the EU. That's where it gets its easier legal basis for operating and trading internationally .
You clearly need to do more research about it.

TheElementsSong · 20/03/2019 11:04

once the empire spanned the globe

Oh, you're one of those 🙄

havingtochangeusernameagain · 20/03/2019 11:07

Is an extension too late now? Do we need primary legislation to change the UK's exit date?

1tisILeClerc · 20/03/2019 11:09

{UK was an independent Island for a long time and once the empire spanned the globe.}
But it fell apart somewhat when it stopped being a good idea to do it by extreme oppression.
{Seemed to do better before EU came along. }
Being a member of the EEC was very advantageous to the UK. If it had participated more thoughtfully in the EU progression/development things could have been a lot better.
The UK was keen to enlist more Eastern European countries, perhaps more than most others.

Peregrina · 20/03/2019 11:11

Rather surprisingly the sun hasn't yet set on the Empire. However most of those places have minuscule populations.

BeersTonight2000 · 20/03/2019 11:14

You know fuck all about politics, history or economics

Well that was a helpful reply! Maybe you are an expert on all three subject; politics, history and economics? Does not prevent me from voting how I choose.

You clearly need to do more research about it

Why? If German companies appreciate the value of engineers more than their UK counterparts why do I care how it happens?

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2019 11:21

Well that was a helpful reply

I was going to write a long reply outlining exactly why all your points were wrong. Then I realised I wasn't your PA and you wouldn't listen anyway.

Maybe you'd like to tell me what amazing trade deals we were prevented from having as members of the EU, which will now be made, which will make up for frictionless trade with a massive trade bloc 26 miles away. Plus all the other places the EU also has agreements with like the recent one with Japan.

SparklySneakers · 20/03/2019 11:25

Why do people talk about the EU as though we are separate from it even though we are part of it like the other 27?

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2019 11:26

Because we're that shitty boyfriend who pretends to be single while still wanting his skidmarked pants washed.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2019 11:28
BeersTonight2000 · 20/03/2019 11:32

EU decision to give Japan a free trade deal does no favours for any EU country. No incentive for Japan to manufacture in EU if they can sell their cars in EU without tariffs
