I am beyond relieved that it means No Deal?

But can anyone explain in very simple language what the vote was about??

(the newspapers can't seem to explain it clearly enough for my teeny mind...)

So Bluntness:

I’m the EU
You’re the UK

I’m bored of you now and/or Hungary is.

Hungary decides not to give you any more time.

Doesn’t matter what happened tonight, doesn’t matter what legislation you pass, you’re out.

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 22:40

Parliament are now bending over backwards to go against 17.4 million votes

Secured by fraud. I'm not going to break my heart about that.

Desperateforspring · 13/03/2019 22:40

We need cross party government to get through national crisis... I believe any other opposition leaders we have seen in recent times would have been happy too do this... except the very one now.

Corybn has no idea, understanding at all of what is at stake it's all a game to him

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:42

“Teresa May has committed to pass this into legislation”

What is the source for this?

Desperateforspring · 13/03/2019 22:43

Unspiritual yes, not leaving has been the fundamental aim of 'hoc' majority hasn't it.

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 22:43

Doesn’t matter what happened tonight, doesn’t matter what legislation you pass, you’re out.

No, we can revoke Article 50 unilaterally.

FFSFFSFFS · 13/03/2019 22:43

@Amoregentlemanlikemanner

some earlier up had the view that the UK can revoke Art 50 by itself and doesn't need EU agreement to do that.

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 22:43

What's the ad hoc majority?

Bluntness100 · 13/03/2019 22:45

Doesn’t matter what happened tonight, doesn’t matter what legislation you pass, you’re out

No this is factually incorrect.

The Eu only need to agree an extension. They do not need to agree us revoking. We can do that without their agreement.

And we can also agree rhe deal on thr table.

As such, this is our two options if they refused an extension. And legally too. So no it's not if they don't agree an extension we are out. If they refuse an extension we either revoke or agree the deal.

But do remember the eu does not wish no deal either, and they have said they will grant a short extension. They could however force our hand. And refuse. And then it's up to us to either pass the deal or revoke

atlastifoundit · 13/03/2019 22:46

Strewth.

Let me get this straight. They've basically said no to a no. They've said no to a yes as well.

Oh, that's all right then. Except... not quite.

Bluntness100 · 13/03/2019 22:46

What is the source for this?

Her own speeches in the house Confused

FFSFFSFFS · 13/03/2019 22:46

Bluntness100 - while you're here - if you don't mind - can you explain in your succinct (and indeed blunt) way why parliament didn't 'vote for May's deal?

As though remainers are the more intelligent lot

Well, now you come to mention it...
'We find that voting Leave is associated with older age, white ethnicity, low educational attainment, infrequent use of smartphones and the internet, receiving benefits, adverse health and low life satisfaction. '

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:48

Nobody is saying that Theresa Aylward has committed to revoke Article 50.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:48

Lol my turn with the autocorrect!

cyclingmad · 13/03/2019 22:50

here is a clear way of showing al lthe outcomes and it shows very clearly that no deal is not off the table.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-46393399

If the BBC is allowed to publish this then its correct

AnyWalls · 13/03/2019 22:50

The deal isn't open for negotiation and tolerance for extension of the deadline appears to be non existent.

It's piss or get off the pot time.
Deal, or get the fuck out.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:50

And nobody, Bluntness, is suggesting that we need EU consent to revoke.
There’s ECJ authority on that point.

LeadMeToTheChocolate · 13/03/2019 22:52

What can we do to prompt revoke??

Can everyone change their statuses on alllllll their social media platforms to simply say ‘REVOKE’ from now until as long as it takes??? Can we all put the same revoke image as our profile pictures??

Can we stage a revolution from our smart phones??

Would this work?? Could it do any harm??

I hate being so powerless!!!!!

cyclingmad · 13/03/2019 22:52

again reported by BBC:

MPs have voted to reject leaving the EU without a withdrawal agreement.

Theresa May said there was a "clear majority" against a no-deal Brexit but the "legal default" was that the UK would leave without a deal on 29 March if no deal is reached.

MPs will now get a vote on delaying Brexit, said the prime minister.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:54

“What is the source for this?

Her own speeches in the house “

Did she say that in relation to the original motion or the amended one?

How does that make any difference to the power held by Hungary (which gives not one fuck about contempt of Parliament)?

And which of us will autocorrect malfunction next?

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 13/03/2019 22:58

bbc link is good thanks.

Just 9 options then.....

time4chocolate · 13/03/2019 22:58

No deal is certainly not off the table.

FFSFFSFFS · 13/03/2019 22:59

OP is now going to bed with a very perplexed little mind that is no doubt going to have some very strange dreams.

I'd be most grateful if you could all sort this Brexit thing out amongst yourselves.

Look forward to the newspaper headlines tomorrow morning that "Mumsnet Solves Brexit Crisis".

The way I see it, it's like your teenage child coming to you as a mother saying they're going to leave because they don't like how things operate around these parts.

So you say fine. Off with you.
Then they come back saying that they want to negotiate a deal on how much food they can eat at your home and when and how they can come and go to collect their things.
You give them 2 days years to come up with a plan.
They come up with a plan which you as their mother finds amusing. They want to live in your house, but don't want to follow your rules.
You're fond of them, they are your child, but it's getting tiresome.
They consult with their friends who insist that they should stand their ground.
You say - Linda - listen Linda - the deal is the agreement we have proposed or get the fuck out.

Linda is now considering whether she can put her money where her mouth is.
To be continued..........
