Brexit

If there is a GE - who would you vote for?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/03/2019 08:54

Surely the end result in our political shambles will be a GE?

I have absolutely no sodding idea at all, I've always been a bit of a floating voter. Previously labour, lib dem and green .

As far as I can tell - no party is stating that sex segregated spaces are to be protected?

The first party to state that women and trans women have different and conflicting needs can have my vote. They don't even need to solve the problem, just acknowledge that there is one.

Tory

Tonsilss · 15/03/2019 00:04

Don't want to vote for the SNP, but will have to to try to get our Tory MP out. Loathe both Tories and Labour with a passion. If the Scots had voted SNP last time, and not Tory, Brexit probably wouldn't be happening now.

Tavannach · 15/03/2019 00:14

Have not got a clue. Used to vote Labour, and would never vote Conservative. They've made a much bigger mess than Labour ever could. But I can't stand Corbyn. The anti-Semitism, the failure to address trans issues with any depth, Bromentum, the fudging on Brexit.
So, difficult.

Frequency · 15/03/2019 00:26

I'd be totally stumped.

Lib Dem, maybe?

I like JC, I like most of his policies, I'm not sure he has enough backing from his own party to effectively run a government and I'm not sure I could bring myself to vote for a party that has a MtF transgender youth as women's officer. I'm all for men and women wearing what the fuck they want and breaking gender boundaries but Lily Madigan does not represent my DDs.

I couldn't ever in a million years vote Tory.

If it wasn't for Brexit I might be more swayed to Labour but I strongly believe whoever is in charge when the Brexit shit truly hits the fan will never see power again in my lifetime and the thought of Tories running the country for the next 40 or so years terrifies me.

Random18 · 15/03/2019 10:20

All I know is it will be a really difficult decision.

I despise Corbyn andreally would not be happy voting for Labour with him as Leader.

BUT I will NEVER forgive then Tories. I have never been their biggest fan but what they have done over the lst 4 / 5 years never mind everything before that is frankly criminal.

I have a Tory MP at the moment who has no principals and will do whatever he thinks will further his career so if voting for Labour gets rid of him then that’s what I will do.

If it looks like Green / LD / Ind could displace him then I will vote for them.

chocolateworshipper · 15/03/2019 10:56

No way that I'm voting for JC, and couldn't in good conscience vote Tory after May's shit show. I can't bear not to vote though, because so many sacrificed so much to get us the vote. I guess I'd just have to look at who else is standing in this area and hope loads of my neighbours have also seen sense.

Artesia · 15/03/2019 11:01

Frequency. If you are concerned about Labour’s stance on gender issues, definitely don’t vote Lib Dem- they are woker than woke, and really pushing the self id agenda

As a GC feminist, I am feeling politically homeless right now

PigeonofDoom · 15/03/2019 11:10

I’m stumped too. Have an absolutely awful Tory MP (think raving right wing brexiteer- his campaign leaflets are about political correctness and foreign aid), so voted labour at the last election to try and unseat him (we have been a swing seat in the past). However, I am beyond angry with labour and their feckless leader at the moment and really not sure I could vote for them right now. Might have to be Lib Dem but then I lesson the chance of getting rid of our arsehole MP as Lib Dem get very few votes here. Aargh!

AuntieOxident · 15/03/2019 11:14

If you can't bring yourself to vote for any candidates please spoil your ballot -- spoilt papers are not only counted, they ARE looked examined, by candidates and officials. I have seen this in person. And these links below also make the point that if there is a large increase in spoiled ballots it will at least be newsworthy. After that - who knows?
IMO it's a better option than not voting at all. www.votenone.org.uk/protest_votes_count.html
www.independent.co.uk/voices/if-there-s-no-one-you-could-stand-to-vote-for-spoil-your-ballot-today-and-let-your-disillusionment-a7014786.html

cathay123 · 15/03/2019 11:23

We are a Tory stronghold but have just elected a Green to the local council which has amazed everyone. Surely this is an opportunity to vote for change.

prettybird · 15/03/2019 13:27

Being in Scotland, at least I have the option of voting for a non-Brexit supporting party and knowing that it is not a wasted vote Smile

God knows what I'd vote if I lived in England Confused. I think I'd have to vote LibDem unless it was an explicitly pro-Remain Labour candidate - but I'd be loath to do so because of the misleading trope that "80% vote for Brexit supporting parties in the last GE" Hmm.

If I lived in one of the TIG member constituencies, I'd vote for them Smile

DaffydownClock · 15/03/2019 13:37

I'm in a very strong Conservative area, not a cat's chance in hell of unseating the smug git. He's a posturing, self-aggrandising snob.
I intend to spoil my vote; no way on earth does any party seem attractive to me, the HoC is complete shambles.

jasjas1973 · 15/03/2019 13:50

No-one at present, i doubt i would vote again, unless the Independent Group becomes a national party.

Tbf i hope to emigrate as i've an EU passport, post brexit, right wing, low reg, low tax, small state UK doesn't appeal.

Yaralie · 15/03/2019 13:55

LibDem

randomsabreuse · 15/03/2019 13:58

Whichever pro European party appears to have the least bad chance in my horribly pro leave true blue Tory constituency...

Wasted vote tbh, ultra safe Tory but might at least save the lib dem candidate's deposit...

Tanith · 15/03/2019 14:09

I couldn't vote for the Greens.
It's not just their attitude to women - nearly all the parties are the same in that respect.
It's their complete disregard towards safeguarding over the Challoner case that has convinced me they are unfit for office.

I will vote: If I don't, someone like Yaxley-Lennon will. Why should they have their views considered over mine? I honestly don't see the point in spoiling your ballot: that just helps the extremists to get their candidates in.

I'll vote for the candidate most likely to get the Conservatives out.

TheGonnagle · 15/03/2019 14:12

I have no idea. I’ve never felt politically homeless before.

Sunonthepatio · 15/03/2019 14:22

It would be hard to know.

littlebillie · 15/03/2019 14:43

Not Labour

safariboot · 15/03/2019 14:46

Probably Labour, though I'd consider Lib Dem. I live in a safe Labour seat though. Last election I was put off the LD candidate because they weren't local, whereas the Labour candidate is.

Never Tories.

SisyphusDad · 15/03/2019 15:05

Not the Conservatives: they caused this shambles in the first place and then made it worse.

Not Labour: Corbyn has silently cheered Brexit on from the sidelines and played the game for personal and party advantage (not saying the the Tories haven't).

So, anyone who campaigns to revoke Brexit.

If no one does so then I really don't know. Spoiling my ballot seems a waste of time. The established parties will just ignore it. My only hope would be that a grass-roots movement comes along that would be a vehicle for Remainers to get their voice heard.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 15/03/2019 15:08

Lib Dem’s - 100%. I’ve always been a labour supporter but can’t vote for them again until Corbyns gone. I’m more scared by him than the Tories staying in power.

Snugglepumpkin · 15/03/2019 18:46

I've been wondering about this myself.
I will not vote either Labour or Conservative, I think the lot of them should be looking at prison terms for the way they've been acting in the last 2 years.

I won't vote for a party that is against Elective Home Education and I won't vote for a party who will support womens rights being stolen by trans people.

I don't know who that leaves to vote for.

TatianaLarina · 15/03/2019 18:51

I will never vote Labour while that nincompoop is at the helm and Brexit is official policy. So LibDem.

ConfCall · 15/03/2019 18:59

Depends who the Labour leader is at the time. The idea of Corbyn, Abbott etc at the helm is preposterous.
