Westminstenders: Competitive Stupidity

RedToothBrush · 10/02/2019 16:00

A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

I'm mainlining tea, kit kats and Inspector George Gently whilst shaking my head in wonderment at ordering 16 2l bottles of water from Waitrose.

I think we live in interesting times Step

Confused

And for those who like to feel patriotic, a little ditty. F&S recorded some brilliant material. I particularly like the 'house and garden'. It's worth listening for a little diversion from Brexit madness.
StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:21

I think we live in interesting times Step

We do indeed.

Given what is going on in Europe I'm beginning to think that we may in fact be better off out of it.

Let's pull the whole thing down and rebuild Trade Unions. There isn't any need for Political Unions leading to potential EU armies.

Namechangre · 11/02/2019 11:27

I read that about Germany entering recession, albeit a technical one.
So much doom and gloom.

BiglyBadgers · 11/02/2019 11:31

Muntjac is pretty nice if you slow cook it. Makes a good curry.

We have an excellent farmers market in town with a great range of game and offal if you know the right stalls. We used to go there a lot when we lived around the corner, but since moving a bit out of the city centre we haven't gone for ages. I can see me heading down more to pick up the cheap cuts post-brexit.

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:32

Germany will be asked to make most of the shortfall when the the UK money drys up.

Surely it would be beneficial to everyone to give the UK a good deal.

I can actually see the EU going down in flames.

Littlespace · 11/02/2019 11:39

Why would it be good for us if the EU went down in flames? Confused

Hazards · 11/02/2019 11:40
Hmm
StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:42

Little

That's not what I said in any way shape or form.

1tisILeClerc · 11/02/2019 11:43

{I can actually see the EU going down in flames.}
While there may well be a bit of belt tightening in Europe it will be nothing like the effects in the UK. The EU is busy making new deals to improve what it has, the UK is in the process of ripping all theirs up.
An EU economy being 'flat' is infinitely better than a recession or depression that is now pretty likely in the UK.
Gloating over neighbours misfortunes is distinctly unpleasant, especially as the UK will be depending on the EU for food and trade moving forward.

Lucygoeswalkies · 11/02/2019 11:43

I like game, but no butchers round here can be bothered to stock it

I love game! And the butchers round here do stock it Smile. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the same holds true for (fairly) rural Wales.

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:44

Gloating over neighbours misfortunes is distinctly unpleasant

Who has been gloating? Stating facts isn't gloating.

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:46

While there may well be a bit of belt tightening in Europe it will be nothing like the effects in the UK

I'm afraid you're wrong, if France and iItaly follow Germany then it's going to be a lot more than just "belt tightening" - especially if we're not buying their stuff.

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 11:46

We have an excellent farmers market in town with a great range of game and offal if you know the right stalls.

When we've tried, accessibility crops up. Kerbs and street furniture (and the godawful wheelchair-rattling faux cobbles which say "fuck off " far more effectively than a proper sign).

That said, last time we wheeled and walked the entire length of the Worcester Food Festival, there was honestly nothing of real note.

A diet relying entirely on rabbit for protein isn't good for you ... you feel nourished but end up dying of a vitamin deficiency.

TalkinPeece · 11/02/2019 11:48

Come and talk gardening ... even windowsills will do Grin
@Hazards
I'll find you a bundle of links for the hydroponic stuff as it will be relevant to anybody in flats / confined spaces and rental Smile

Littlespace · 11/02/2019 11:49

Europeans are close neighbours so it is mutually beneficial to continue to cooperate, trade and keep peace.

The world is generally going through trade tit for tat rubbish & isolationism which benefits nobody in the end, so that is bad enough without introducing extra chaos.

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:49

An EU economy being 'flat' is infinitely better than a recession or depression that is now pretty likely in the UK

Based on what evidence? We will be able to make new trade deals. Countries within the EU won't be able too.

Let this sink in; Germany is now in recession...........

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 11:50

Part of the problem with lack of game-butchers is DW isn't really too into it and it's hard to get small portions.

We love offal though - kidney, liver... (obviously can't get anything else even if you wanted to Sad)

Lucygoeswalkies · 11/02/2019 11:50

LeClerc I was going to suggest A song of Patriotic Prejudice’ - you beat me to it. Utterly brilliant.

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 11:51

I'll find you a bundle of links for the hydroponic stuff

That could be an interesting shopping expedition Grin

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 11:51

Europeans are close neighbours

and. I would hope, close friends.

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 11:52

Europeans are close neighbours so it is mutually beneficial to continue to cooperate, trade and keep peace

I 100% agree which is why the UK shouldn't get a punishment deal. We should get a deal that benefits everyone.

Littlespace · 11/02/2019 11:52

Not buying their stuff might well tip them into troubled times but that would not benefit us unless we can float our island off to the middle of the Pacific.
