Westminstenders: Competitive Stupidity

RedToothBrush · 10/02/2019 16:00

A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

Lee harpin @lmharpin
BREAKING: The chair and @WavertreeCLP have been dismissed from his role as senior lecturer in public health at Liverpool University after the JC revealed he had made repeated appearances on shows broadcast by conspiracy theorists David Icke and Richie Allen

Surely no PM would want to be the one who lurched us over a cliff. Even the Maybot is too patriotic for that.

I refer you to the discussion yesterday where Dunkirk was branded "a triumph".

LonelyandTiredandLow · 12/02/2019 13:20

"Jump too soon, by resigning to join a parliamentary rebellion against no-deal, and risk scuppering the prime minister’s negotiation with Brussels at its most crucial stage.
But wait too long and it may be too late. "

I think they've missed the point (again) the EU keep making - THEY ARE NOT NEGOTIATING ANY MORE [facepalm emoji]

dontcallmelen · 12/02/2019 13:22

BCF I think your last post, is most likely correct I can’t see any other reason for her behaviour.

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:22

In business it's perfectly normal to only invite preferred bidders to tender. I realise of course that government procurement has its own rules and the courts will presumably decide whether they were broken.

The fact Eurotunnel have already spent money on lawyering up suggests they believe they have a case worth arguing. Not quite

"Well that particular dispute should take all of 2 minutes to clear up."

as you asserted ...

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 13:23

i know no one ever pulls you people up on this thread, because that's how you people roll but it wasn't branded a "triumph"

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:24

She's holding the Tory party so close to her heart, she'll burst it ....

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:28

i know no one ever pulls you people up on this thread, because that's how you people roll but it wasn't branded a "triumph"

sorry, "victory"

SusanWalker · 12/02/2019 13:32

Yes I was screaming (in my head) at politics live today, when they kept saying you can't take no deal away when you are in a negotiation.

We are not in a negotiation. As far as the EU is concerned the negotiation is over.

I highly suspect they are waiting for us to 'no deal'. Within a few weeks we will be signing the WA.

TheElementsSong · 12/02/2019 13:36

i know no one ever pulls you people up

While we're on the all-important subject of pulling people up, any chance of that All-Answering 500-page Brexit White Paper? Please?

bellinisurge · 12/02/2019 13:37

I love "you people ". Does that go with your suggested Brexit song " All together now"?

LonelyandTiredandLow · 12/02/2019 13:39

Susan this is how we will no deal - we still have no idea what we want, remainers are still hoping for someone else to come up with anything and all the while the EU are wondering why PM has delayed the only chance there appears to be of HoC letting an actual deal through - even then the EU hasn't confirmed it would back whatever deal that is! They have no obligation to do so, from what I can see.
There's not enough time, so I still think No Deal is the likely option and gets more likely every day we continue to chase our tail.

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:40

I love "you people"

I tried to ignore that bit ... it does have nasty connotations Sad

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:40

remainers are still hoping for someone else to come up with anything

It's the bystander effect writ large.

FishesaPlenty · 12/02/2019 13:45

The fact Eurotunnel have already spent money on lawyering up suggests they believe they have a case worth arguing.

There's a winner and a loser in every case. You understand that do you? The ability to pay for legal representation doesn't validate a claim in any way.

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 13:45

it does have nasty connotations

Judging by yesterday, when it comes to nasty connotations, you lot certainly know your onions.

bellinisurge · 12/02/2019 13:46

Would that be for calling you out for putting in a link to Breitbart?

Destiel · 12/02/2019 13:47

"You people"

Chortle.

Letting the mask slip a bit, are we?

StepLadders007 · 12/02/2019 13:50

Letting the mask slip a bit, are we

here we go again.......

RedToothBrush · 12/02/2019 13:50

There's a winner and a loser in every case. You understand that do you? The ability to pay for legal representation doesn't validate a claim in any way.

But it does suggest that someone fancies their chances and thinks its worth a shot and risking the legal fees.

I note here that the Channel Tunnel is a business which seeks to make money. Unlike the state which seems to think its fine to blow the tax payers money on tory party fantasy.

No, you asking me if I had a problem with Jews on 4 or 5 occasions.

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:54

There's a winner and a loser in every case. You understand that do you? The ability to pay for legal representation doesn't validate a claim in any way.

I also know that the shareholders would need to be convinced about the viability of a case before risking expenditure on legal action.

Anyway, whatever. Eurotunnel have started legal action, and it will be interesting to follow and see how the case progresses, as I'd wager there will be several companies with similar ideas.

DGRossetti · 12/02/2019 13:55

I note here that the Channel Tunnel is a business which seeks to make money.

It also has an obligation to it's shareholders to do so, which is another lever on the legal wrecking ball.

Normally I charge for improving critical thinking skills. However as you enjoy hanging with us people I'll just give you some homework tasks.

You exist here in a complete echo chamber, I'm totally down with saying "You People"
