Westminstenders: Competitive Stupidity

A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

The WA is a treaty which has been negotiated.
It is the exit deal

The future trade relationship is the deal that has to be negotiated after Brexit

BigChocFrenzy · 11/02/2019 23:01

Oh dear, I was hoping that ferries to warships story was a windup

PerverseConverse · 11/02/2019 23:01

I'm hoping this whole situation is a wind up!

Mistigri · 11/02/2019 23:03

I hope misti & MissClimpson aren't holding their breath waiting for that promise to be fulfilled

Lol. Lying fucking bastards will never give us our votes back now because we will never vote for them.

Video footage : Jeremy Corbyn called for European Union to be 'defeated' in explosive rally speech (2010)

Full on hard left conspiracy rant

https://talkradio.co.uk/news/exclusive-jeremy-corbyn-called-european-union-be-defeated-explosive-rally-speech-19021129836?

Corbyn's remarks were made at the Durham Miners Gala, a trade union gathering that the Labour leader attends annually.

Jericho1 · 11/02/2019 23:13

Jeremy Corbyn called for European Union to be 'defeated

Any one with half a brain cell has known that about Corbyn for decades.

What we hadn't known was that the tories, (including cuddly 'blood scandal' Ken Clarke), would be content to see the populace removed in body bags.

We do now.

Cable queries use of civil servants for purely Tory Brexit fantasising

https://talkradio.co.uk/news/exclusive-top-civil-servant-called-upon-probe-conservative-brexit-compromise-meetings

Cabinet Secretary Mark Sedwill has been asked to establish whether provision of civil servants to the Alternative Arrangements Working Group breaches Whitehall rules.

The Group - made up entirely of Conservative MPs, predominantly backbenchers - has been meeting in the Cabinet Office this week with around a dozen civil servants from the Department for Exiting the European Union, the HMRC and the Northern Ireland Office.

Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable has signed a letter to Mr Sedwill

talkradio.co.uk/news/jewish-chronicle-editor-any-decent-labour-mp-should-join-breakaway-party-due-antisemitism

The editor of the Jewish Chronicle has said that he hopes Labour's actions on antisemitism will encourage "decent" MPs to join a breakaway party,
following calls for the deselection of Liverpool Wavetree MP Luciana Berger.
< even though motion has been withdrawn - for now >

Jericho1 · 11/02/2019 23:17

Body bags, btw, are used in conflict zones.

Jericho1 · 11/02/2019 23:18

Yup, trotskyites are anti semites.

About the tories and the body bags though...........

singswithitsfingers · 11/02/2019 23:21

Long time lurker here. Thank you all for the excellent and informative updates.

But sorry - body bags and looking for sites for mass burials?? I didn’t see these threads. What is this?

Robert Pestonon*_: Why Brexit reminds me eerily of the last days of Lehman, in slower motion but on a bigger scale

Alarming that most MPs tell him No Deal is only a remote possibility
MPs so far haven't done anything to stop it and it is the default outcome
Complacency that nothing that bad would be allowed to happen - as with Lehman

BigChocFrenzy · 11/02/2019 23:33

Link works for me

and it is from Robert Peston, usually a very reliable source, with photos of the letter from the Health Minister to a Tory MP

Jericho1 · 11/02/2019 23:38

. Some of the link. sings
Not sure how one checks out posters though. It's not rocket science though. I know 2 women who will die prematurely due to lack of isotopes in 5 weeks time. One is 55. Both mums. One a grandma too.

3 of my kids' friends have diabetes. Not nice is it.

BigChocFrenzy · 11/02/2019 23:42

Still ongoing:
Will Grayling survive ?
Yes, May hasn't sacked him yet and won't at this stage

Liar, liar, pants on fire
or just ignorant as well as incompetent
or wasting 800k is nothing to him

Grayling: "Not a single penny of taxpayers' money was spent on Seaborne Freight
BUT

https://amp.theguardian.com/politics/2019/feb/11/incompetent-grayling-must-quit-over-brexit-ferry-deal-says-labour?CMP=sharebtnntw&twitterrimpression=true

Chris Grayling, the transport secretary, is facing calls to resign after auditors found his department spent £800,000 of public money on consultants assessing the bid of a company with no ships that was temporarily awarded a Brexit-related ferry contract.

This is with YouGov's huge 40,000 panel they use to predict seats, much more granular than standard % polls

YouGov@YouGov

The most likely outcome from our new MRP constituency model see the Tories gaining just four seats in a snap election: not nearly enough to solve May’s Brexit woes

Con: 321 seats (+4 from GE2017)
Lab: 250 (-12)
SNP: 39 (+4)
LD: 16 (+4)
Other – 7 (+1)

Looks like Labour losing to LDems & SNP,
Tories losing - but less - to UKIP

NI not included, so we can't see if DUP would lose those 2-3 seats in jeopardy

Those Tory seat are not enough for a majority,
but would be a very slim working majority because Sinn Fein MPs won't take their seats

'Something has to give,' EU's Barnier tells Brexit Britain

This is about the Barclay dinner.

"I found Corbyn's letter interesting in tone and in content," Barnier said earlier in the day in Luxembourg of the Labour leader's Brexit proposals, sent to May. "Something has to give on the British side."

RE body bags: "Think of the money the NHS will save each year with our experiment in social darwinism" said the hard line Brexiteer. "There will be more money available to those who don't abuse the system and aren't health benefit scroungers"

May called the last election because polls were showing, what, a 20 point lead? I’d hope that in any election that the DUP got hammered by the small NI business people that constitute much of their base, that the LDs picked up seats from both Cons and Lab and that the balance in the HOC swung towards sense. But I expect that’s a forlorn hope.
