A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

Polynesian (baked) dog

Sostenueto · 11/02/2019 19:20

Well, no one will try to eat my dog because I will guard her! And if they go for me she will guard me!

Apparently insects are on the way out in the very near future and the worlds population will die. It would really be ironic if mans downfall was due to the most tiniest creatures! How's that for karma. I feel really bad contributing to insect dessimation but I hate spiders and moths!

jasjas1973 · 11/02/2019 19:22

A reduction in excessive globalisation would involve supporting SMEs more over multinationals, and manufacturing more locally on smaller scales. It would involve things being more pricey, but hopefully better for the global environment

Why? Global climate change can only be tackled by global efforts on encouraging Europe/USA/China India etc to be more energy efficient & use less fossil fuels, the uk copying manufactured goods made more efficiently in other parts of the World will make matters (a tiny bit) worse, esp as we can't supply locally the materials needed, so still import but export less.

Sostenueto · 11/02/2019 19:23

Do you think ration books are being printed yet? 4 ounces of meat a week each ( sigh). But it will cut down on pollution by cows fartsGrin

BigChocFrenzy · 11/02/2019 19:23

Melen You sound like a decent person who expects those in charge of the country to act decently too.

Unfortunately, we are being ruled by idiots, crooks & lunatics

Lucygoeswalkies · 11/02/2019 19:25

I don't think that's the 500 page white paper being talked about (if that's what you are posting that for). That's the draft agreement made in November, the WA in fact.

Bigly. I’m with you. For some reason I thought it was the WA that was being referred to, given that that is the only thing around Brexit which is the size of a doorstop!

Lonelyplanet yup - you’re right. The White Paper is much shorter and has the thing about ‘feelz’.

Disappointingly, neither document contains pictures. They could have done with a few illustrations....

Sostenueto · 11/02/2019 19:26

Here's the beast! A good lot of meat but hands off! I'm lethal with my walking sticks!Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 11/02/2019 19:27

sos I can't imagine this hopeless shower organising an effective rationing scheme
and it is against their small state ideology anyway

So it will be left to market forces,
i.e. those who can pay will be ok

Sostenueto · 11/02/2019 19:30

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Every time TM goes to Europe do you think she notices how much they are laughing at her and smirking behind her back? She must be so thick-skinned or perhaps she should go to specsavers!

prettybird · 11/02/2019 19:31

I'm looking forward to keeping as opposed to rescuing the pigeons that the two boy cats catch Grin we think that they tag team Wink

For the moment, part of my stockpile includes 2 frozen pheasant that I bought at Christmas and we didn't eat (I know, terribly middle class Grin).

Littlespace · 11/02/2019 19:31

They are thinking ahead a bit now.

Stockpiling body bags.

They will ration If it gets bad bigchoc they would have to. But it may not get that bad. I still think revoke may happen. Not sure whether I'm dreaming but hoping me thinksSad

^ I don't disagree with this but leaving the EU 'because of globalisation' is genuinely illogical.

Also, in my experience (...and yes, I know it's not exactly scientific) those voting for Brexit have a pretty marked correlation to being the people I know who give the least fucks about doing anything to help the environment and be-leave in the unicorn AMAZING global trade deals we'll get which will be better than the ones we have via the EU - again, not following any fucking logic whatsoever.

Also half the leave voters I know are very financially comfortable and the significant increase in prices to reduce reliance on non-UK would be fine for them. The other half would not be able to maintain their standard of living and would have a BIG shock as to what it meant to them personally.

Corned beef currently selling with a use by date in 2023. Just saying, for those who want a wee stash of food.

wheresmymojo · 11/02/2019 19:34

Where did that excerpt come from @Littlespace?

I'd like to share on my FB but always reference to source what with not being a lying Leaver and all

wheresmymojo · 11/02/2019 19:35

Halloumi is a good option too....lasts for months and months. I still have some unopened from a July BBQ that is still in date!

bellinisurge · 11/02/2019 19:36

@Lucygoeswalkies already on my playlist Grin

dontcallmelen · 11/02/2019 19:36

BCF that’s exactly it, I didn’t have a great deal of faith in any of them previously but this shitshow has just compounded my disillusionment it’s a horrible realisation & makes me feel so scared for the future especially for the sick the vulnerable & the young.

Our two boys used to tag team. It was very impressive to watch. Now they are all grown up and hardly speak to each other. One of them still manages to get a pigeon occasionally. He's pretty small and I'm always secretly rather impressed. Maybe we should be encouraging him more.

DangermousesSidekick · 11/02/2019 19:38

Global climate change can only be tackled by stopping mass consumerism to be honest, and some serious change to rising energy demands. That's why no one's got very far with it, and I'm not feeling hopeful right now, probably with the associated effects of Brexit. The hope with more localised production would be that it would return us to more sustainable demand levels I think, as well as reducing transportation, but the problem of insufficient local raw materials is a bit of a blocker. Caroline Lucas co-wrote a book on this at some point. www.amazon.co.uk/Green-Alternatives-Globalisation-Michael-Woodin/dp/0745319335?tag=mumsnetforum-21

mojo - I tend to agree.
