Not because I'm keeping a list of who has food for when the shit hits the fan... Just because I'm a nosy bitch.

Here's mine - I started adding to it a few weeks ago. It's only me and almost 5yo DS I really have to worry about so I feel its almost there.

As for RedToothBrush’s furious rant.

FFS. It wasn't remotely furious!

It was tongue firmly in cheek!

If I can't make black humoured comments about the fact we are flipping stockpiling because of the utter incompetence of this government frankly my head will explode, my eyeballs fall out and I might actually eat anchovies!!!

Cloudtree · 27/02/2019 10:46

I thought the comment was odd Grin We're all so worn out with the extra work of stockpiling and having to think about this shit that it becomes easy to miss when people are being tongue in cheek.

I actually only have olives stuffed with anchovies in my cupboard. Do I get double points?

SparklySneakers · 27/02/2019 10:50

I thought it odd too and not your normal posting style. I figured I was missing something but didn't care at all about anchovies as am veggie. I'd better get some tinned mushrooms as my favourite pizza topping is mushroom and pineapple.

TheElementsSong · 27/02/2019 10:52

I'm going to need help with "propaganda" - I've got dictionarian's block!

SparklySneakers · 27/02/2019 10:54

Propaganda: information given by experts, the government or those with knowledge gleamed from sources other than the gutter press.

ChakiraChakra · 27/02/2019 10:57

My apologies @Redtoothbrush in my defense you were just too realistic😁

Cloudtree · 27/02/2019 10:57

tinned mushrooms cheap in lidl

sorenipples · 27/02/2019 10:58

Lurker here. I'm trying to have a "sensible" approach of doing April's non perishable shop in advance, with a few extras (uht milk, value range tinned veg etc.) and being well stocked on household items. I eat a lot of tinned tomatoes and beans anyway so my average month may look like a panic buy to someone else!

I appreciate how fortunate I am to afford to do this, indeed its shocking how much cheap food for a month still comes to.

Does this sound about right? It seems hard to justify having more than a months worth of rice and chickpeas as surely these things don't come via the EU so will only be impacted in initial teething issues? Or (given I do like my chickpeas) should I be stocking as many as I can fit and afford ?

In reality if things did go thay crazy I'd probably give a fair amount of my stockpile away to my neighbours.

TheElementsSong · 27/02/2019 10:58

Oh, I like that Sparkly - duly added!

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2019 11:04

Shh don't tell anyone but I have olives in the box. Though moving has thrown a major spanner in my stockpiling plan. I now have to eat lots of it rather sooner than intended!!!

I do get that humour does not always translate on the Internet though.

I honestly didn't mean anything serious about it, apart from the fact that I'd probably rather starve than have anchovies!

SalliSunbeem · 27/02/2019 11:08

@SparklySneakers as I said all propaganda. Don't forget May was and probs still is, a remainer

TheElementsSong · 27/02/2019 11:11

Oh Sparkly I am suddenly inspired to modify your definition of PROPAGANDA Grin

PrawnOfCreation · 27/02/2019 11:12

I've made yoghurt! I have such high hopes. 7 hours till we open it. We love yoghurt here, I bought LOADS as the Easiyo sachets were less than £1 each on Amazon as someone on 48% shared a link with a £5 voucher.

Off to dig through the shed now, sure I have some potting compost. Such a nice day, toddler will enjoy some planting and if we get a few veg going then even better. I am not green fingered so not really hopeful that this will actually add to my stash.

bellinisurge · 27/02/2019 11:26

@ChakiraChakra - Fabulous!

SparklySneakers · 27/02/2019 11:28

Proper gander/ propaganda: a wild goose chase with 2 right wings resulting is flying round in circles and getting nowhere.

NopeNi · 27/02/2019 11:59

Quite funny to see Red being deleted as a troll Grin

AutumnCrow · 27/02/2019 12:26

I missed Red's original anchovy-based tirade. 🐟 Grin

Don't forget folks, 53 PENCE IN LIDL.

PestyMachtubernahme · 27/02/2019 14:28

Morrison's wonky onions today are shallots and 50p a kg Grin

I may have bought 3kg.
1 kg sliced in freezer, 1kg caramelising in the oven (can be frozen) and 1kg in veg box.

PrawnOfCreation · 27/02/2019 14:37

Just sliced and straight in the freezer @PestyMachtubernahme?

bellinisurge · 27/02/2019 14:45

I have to admit that I don't dehydrate onions because of the smell. Yes, my dehydration nemesis.
I bought a load of dried onions off Amazon to save space.

AutumnCrow · 27/02/2019 14:57

I told DP about nasturtium capers and his eyes glazed over. He's more of a peas and sweetcorn man.

Yes Prawn , sliced and put on a baking tray, that had had an hours head start in the freezer. Will bag them at bed time. Same process I use for currants and berries.

I am tempted to dehydrate some bellinisurge as shallots are so much sweeter than onions.
