Not because I'm keeping a list of who has food for when the shit hits the fan... Just because I'm a nosy bitch.

Here's mine - I started adding to it a few weeks ago. It's only me and almost 5yo DS I really have to worry about so I feel its almost there.

Yawn

RedWineAllMine · 20/02/2019 18:27

No, but I may need to redhat after tonight's bashing! 🙈😳

Uptheapplesandpears · 20/02/2019 18:27

If the world were about to end, there'd be no point stockpiling...

QueenieInFrance · 20/02/2019 19:03

On a different subject, anyone who could give me the name of a nice mash potato brand?
I used to buy the o from Lidl but they haven’t had it for ages now and I still haven’t replaced it.

SparklySneakers · 20/02/2019 19:13

Idaho has been recommended. I have some but havent tried it yet.

IDoN0tCare · 20/02/2019 19:17

Oh the horror! I can remember having to eat mashed potatoes at primary and I hated it. The dinner woman used to stand over you and make you eat every bite. I could feel it fighting its way back up my throat. I’m sticking to the tinned spuds.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/02/2019 19:28

I like smash (for mash get smash) or at least I like it when I was a student --with butter and bisto with a teaspoon of chilli added for spicy gravy)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/02/2019 19:29

bum, underline fail due to brain fail.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/02/2019 19:30

Thinking about students. Is there such a thing as small cartons of uht milk? If there's a shortage I can't imagine milk in a fridge lasting long.

NopeNi · 20/02/2019 19:41

That's probably where dried milk would be handy - make it up as you need to.

KatyMac · 20/02/2019 19:47

Like this

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/02/2019 19:51

Yes KatyMac, thanks :)

Is there a dried milk that's ok? I still feel queasy at the thought of marvel Envy

bellinisurge · 20/02/2019 19:54

Nido? It's a Nestle product but it's full fat.

redhat · 20/02/2019 20:17

You can buy trays of the little single serving pots of uht milk they use in hotels.

PoppingBubbles · 20/02/2019 20:22

Oh, I haven't stockpiled anything. I'm seriously regretting it Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/02/2019 20:24

oh that's true Redhat. A lot of plastic, but costco do them.

We might give nido a trial run. If I'm brave enough. Full fat is good. Bugger at nestles though.

mum2jakie · 20/02/2019 20:28

We've still got a functioning just in time system and reasonably priced food and goods available so not too late to do the minimum of three days worth of stuff, @PoppingBubbles

PoppingBubbles · 20/02/2019 20:35

@mum2jakie - do I have the time to do more though? I'm not normally the stick my head in the sand type, so I'm annoyed at myself for not getting this sorted earlier.
I've not been not 100% myself recently though, had a bit of personal stuff to work through, so I've missed this one out so far.

NopeNi · 20/02/2019 20:38

I tried Nido and was hugely disappointed in how bleh it was.

Tried it again a week later with lower expectations and actually in tea it's lovely, quite a nice after-taste too!

mum2jakie · 20/02/2019 20:47

@PoppingBubbles - there's still over a calendar month remaining. Surely anything you can do to prepare yourself has got to be better than doing nothing at all.

RosinaAlmaviva · 20/02/2019 21:25

PoppingBubbles it's definitely not too late! Could you spend some time planning this weekend? Then prioritise and do a few extra shops. In your place I would refill prescriptions first, then get in food and essential toiletries like loo roll. As mum2jakie says, anything is better than nothing, as long as it is stuff you will actually use. I think you have time to do more than three days, assuming you have the budget and space to store things.

I have marked Brexit Day on my calendar with a big unicorn sticker.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 20/02/2019 21:54

Have any of us on the (very gentle) stockpiling boards assumed the position of completely abusing those who don't have the same view?
No. Didn't think so.
I've been totally flamed just for saying it was a shame we were put in this position.
Never said I was a staunch reaminer or leaver (for what it's worth, I'm a remainer)
But my goodness, the bullying, shaming, and made to feel like some sort of ridiculous freak.. well it doesn't help to pull together at all

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 20/02/2019 21:59

I don't understand anyone who has children and isn't preparing for the worst outcome - best to be on the safe side when it comes to feeding your children

redhat · 20/02/2019 22:01

I agree. how can you take the risk if you have children?
