Just that.

I think it may be unearth-head-from-sand time, and so was wondering what everybody else is doing, or has done?

If you are an EU MNetter and are staying in the UK, which option seems preferable to you?

Thanks all Brew

When Argentina was collapsing, the Italian government gave possibility to Argentinians with great grandparents or so to get Italian passport, as a way out of misery (and quite a few in my previous company came to Italy to work thanks to that, not just footballer). Can you believe if they’d need to offer that to brits?? ;-)

(Italian consulate in Farringdon street? GOOD LUCK! Usually the queue in the morning goes around the building. They give appointments, but they still want you to queue with everybody else at the ONE security turnstile. Afternoon is considerably better. Still... That’s when you really don’t regret having left the country...

Grrrrrr.
Did they call me when they were meant to?
Can I get through to them?

Nope. Might have to go to London to join the giant queue to get an appointment OR fly to my old home town in Italy and beg someone at the commune to give me a passport.

Passport appointment times are around 3-4 months from when you can get the line, for IDs it’s 8 months (form via the post only), and you have to go and collect them in person, if the child is 14+ it’s mandatory he also comes (must sign). For younger kids it’s all via post and easier. For my passport I ended up writing myself a letter to state I had urgent business need (I had!) and they did it on the spot...they charge usually 50£+
For documents in Italy, remember to have fully filled declaration from the father of the child, photocopies of IDs etc, and if you want an ID it takes about 6 days because they come in the credit card format now and are printed centrally somewhere. Only consulates still issue the old fashioned paper form...

I am EU citizen and my country does not allow dual citizenship for now. I am waiting for that to be changed. Until then, permanent residency for me. Ideally I would like to have both EU and UK passports; the same for my DC who were born here but have EU passports.
