If there were to be a second referendum now, 52% would vote Remain and 48% Leave, an average of polls over the past three months suggests.

We must have a #peoplesvote on Brexit as the Brexit we are getting is not the one which was promised.

And what abundance of hone grown do you have to add to the tally Wholly ? I have a bit of a hankering for quince or greengage, I reckon those with Gin would be marvellous !

If anyone does know of any paid schills jobs , I am up for a bit of diversifying, not sure how to describe it on my CV though ? any thoughts ?

Actually, when we have visitors, we often share gardening tips Wink

My raised beds have been great this year and we've added a second hand greenhouse (it was dh's dad's which we finally dismantled and brought over to our place).

I've been enjoying courgettes, potatoes, purple podded peas, French beans (will we still be allowed them Wink), runner beans, broad beans, curly kale (none of the other brassicas are ready yet), lettuce, garlic, cucumbers, raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and radishes. The re-planted asparagus bed should do well next year, judging by the growth this year. The tomatoes in the greenhouse are only just starting to ripen - hopefully that will now accelerate now that the Rosella is turning pink. The Victoria plum tree is absolutely laden with a plethora of plums but none are quite ripe yet.

I should be fine for bartering in the even of empty supermarket shelves Grin (also have a good sourdough starter so can make bread and am already stockpiling flour Wink)

Is the BBC that whoollyfather watches the same as the one which has wall to wall coverage of Farage?

Frumpety - I have just decanted last year's plum gin (very tasty Smile) and now have the redcurrant gin maturing GinGrin Should be ready before Christmas [hic] (Have already made 12 jars of a beautifully vibrant jewel clear redcurrant and Cape Vintage jelly).

Wow, I'm deeply envious of your garden, prettybird!

We've had quite a successful year too, but on a much smaller scale as our only cultivation space is the side return - we started early in the summer with lettuce, strawberries and radishes, and since then we've been enjoying purple dwarf beans, scarlet runner beans, beetroot and tomatoes. And our apple tree is practically groaning with fruit, looking forward to picking those in the autumn!

Of course, I don't actually need any crops, as I'm raking it in with my payments from the EU Grin

Care to share your recipe for the plum gin and sour dough starter prettybird ? Gorgeous garden and am deeply envious of your asparagus bed Smile

My fig tree is doing well.

You have given me an idea prettybird - I could try making a blackcurrant jelly because I have a good crop there.

This is the plum gin recipe that I use

https://jamesbonfieldrecipes.wordpress.com/2010/11/27/plum-liqueur-plum-gin/

I made the sourdough starter nearly 3 years ago. I think I used a meld of a H F-W recipe and a Gordon Ramsay one (or it might have been Wozza): a mush of a grated apple (from the garden, to get local yeasts), some Greek yoghurt, water, bread flour and rye flour and then mixed regularly for a week or so with extra flour (plain and rye) and water added every day or so.

Nowadays, it gets fed every day (if it's out on the counter and being used regularly) with 50ml of rye and 50ml of bread flour and c75ml of water, or, if it's dormant in the fridge, when I remember Blush

I now follow a Breadtopia "No Knead Sourdough" recipe with good success, adding extra caraway seeds. Usually need a bit more water than the recipe suggests.
