Westministenders: High Drama at The Ok Coral

3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 1881, Tombstone, Arizona.

After months of death threats from the Cowboy Billys, their long simmering feud with the law thing came to a head. The Earp Brothers and Doc Holliday faced the criminals down in a shootout.

Tomorrow's 'sleepover' is starting to feel like the Gunfight at the OK Coral.

The outcome of the real story was three of the outlaws were killed. Another two claimed they were unarmed and ran from the fight. Virgil, Morgan, and Doc Holliday were wounded, but Wyatt Earp was unharmed.

How many Brexiteers can we expect to roll over and resign from the Cabinet and how many will surrender to May and the Pro-Business lobby? ONly time will tell.

Please place your bets for the number of resignations and the number of 'I support the PM' comments.

But don't get too excited. The showdown wasn't the end of the matter.

One of the outlaws who legged it, filed murder charges against the Earps and Doc Holliday. It took them some time for them to be acquitted.

Then Virgil Earp was ambushed and disabled in the arm later that year in December and Morgan Earp was assassinated in March 1882. Wyatt Earp, then thinking he had no other option, went on a personal vendetta to kill the outlaws and then fled the state.

Given the Tory Cabinet and the perchant for stabbing each other in the back and settling personal scores, a repeat of a wild west gun fight, really doesn't sound too wildly off the cards now does it?

Buckle up. Its time to play at Chequers.

Absolutely loving the thought of Johnson as the MIL who shows up in a white bridal gown 😂

With the football, I called Belgium to win before it started. I haven't yet seen anything that would convince me otherwise. However France are pulling off the perfect campaign, looking beatable in the group stages then bossing the knockouts. England will fall to Croatia I think. I suspect their relative youth and inexperience will be shocked my a Croatian team on their last hurrah - they're about to lose a big part of their team to retirement and haven't fully got the youth behind them yet, so it's now or in 2 cups time at best.

England have a fine team for the future now. Should properly be contending the Euros in 2 years. As long as the media leave them alone. Which they won't. So unless Southgate can convince them the media's words are worthless and as he well knows, mistakes will happen and they aren't the catastrophes they're made out to be, I suspect this is going to be another team that could have been great.

I'd like to be wrong though.

Pathetic Hey.

woman11017 · 09/07/2018 18:10

@faisalislam
Tory Brexit MPs trying to get the Dexeu version of white paper published in questions to the PM - it is the Cabinet Office version that will be. This is a mess..

At least it's drawn the attention of those who had thought the 'brexit' had happened nearly 3 years ago; a few new threads and on bbc at least.

Internecine warfare between factions in a gov which has given itself executive supremacy...........

Heyduggeesflipflop · 09/07/2018 18:11

Ghost of

Sadly yes - the failure of socialism to inflict anything other that misery and failure is pathetic.

I’m glad you are growing up!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/07/2018 18:16

Sadly yes - the failure of socialism to inflict anything other that misery and failure is pathetic.

30 years of neo liberal economics and a dollop of austerity have really done wonders to bridge the gap between rich and poor haven't they?

Don't deflect. You have no argument. Your slogans are like your political party. A spent force.

TinCanAlleyCat · 09/07/2018 18:17

Looks like Downing Street stole BoJo's thunder by releasing news of his resignation ahead of him Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 09/07/2018 18:17

Our ruling elite intended to make a lot of money from Brexit.
Some Tory hedge-funders betting hundreds of millions against British businesses and for French & German ones

unfortunately, it all seems to have run away with them
and now may destroy the Tory Party for a generation.

If you are against elites, you'll like that, though

54321go · 09/07/2018 18:18

@Heydug
How are Topsy and Tim today? Are they playing with the red ball or the blue ball?
When you have worked that one out, how about coming back with YOUR plan of how to get ANY of Mrs Mays 'wish list' accepted by the EU.

RedToothBrush · 09/07/2018 18:18

Michael Crick @ michaellcrick
1992 seems to be going well for May so far, though Maria Caulfield was “stroppy”, I’m told.

Should we translate that as 'shes doomed' or take it literally?

What's with the sudden outbreak of grouchiness this fine afternoon? Isn't everything proceeding as Leavers have foreseen?

In 2003, IDS finally dared grumbling critics to back him or challenge him. He was out within 72 hours

In 1990, Margaret Thatcher left No 10 just 14 days after challenge mounted

IDS was useless, and thatch was dethroned by the same characters destroying their party now. Isn't there a quote about repeating the same mistake?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/07/2018 18:21

Ghost of - So many countries around the world practising your morally corrupt worldview yet you choose to stay with us - well aren’t we fortunate.

Its abit difficult to take a Brexit voter worrying about moral corruption seriously. Go have a drink in the Brexit Arms, its needs the business.

We will know for definite when chipolata shows up.
Until then soundbiters are a good indication of the way the wind is blowing Grin

mozzybites · 09/07/2018 18:24

There are plenty of 'proper conservatives' who have no time whatsoever for Brexit, let alone a hard one. Fiscal responsibility has always been a traditional conservative value. Anyone who thinks that only socialists are in favor of remaining wasn't focusing on the government position during the referendum.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 09/07/2018 18:24

Ghost of - don’t worry yourself unduly dear - Brexit is down but not out

Get yourself a eu passport while you still can is my advice.

Icantreachthepretzels · 09/07/2018 18:26

Ghost some advice from Mark Twain
'Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.'

I'm dreadful for not ignoring trolls - but seriously, this one has mentioned a wish for a new tory leader twice and then nitpicked at other posters (very poorly). Not worth feeding. Ignore them and they will go away. Time to install your virtual 'hide poster' button.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 09/07/2018 18:30

Brexit has become a self fulfilling prophecy. The ruling elite were never behind it - has it occurred that if those elites had spent more energy working towards it instead of attempting to obstruct it we might not be where we are now?

Crow all you like but this is a dark day for 17 million who voted leave - those people won’t be on the streets but they will disengage from voting. After all, if change doesn’t come what’s the point in wasting the journey to the polling booth?

PineappleSunrise · 09/07/2018 18:30

I am continuously puzzled by the Brexit trolls who think that only lefties are pro-EU. They must never meet actual business people.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 09/07/2018 18:30

Icantreach

Great advice and you are on my list

TheElementsSong · 09/07/2018 18:33

This afternoon's Westministenders is turning out particularly entertaining Grin

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 09/07/2018 18:33

pineapple because having a flow diagram of arguments doesn't give an accurate representation of reality Wink

OhLook I've noticed that when they go off-flowchart they tend to get muddled up and start fighting completely random strawmen. It's really entertaining. Grin
