By Brexiters, for Brexiters.

Remainers welcome, but gobshites & goadyfuckers are encouraged to take their business elsewhere.

"get over it". We are over it. We lost. But doesn't mean that we won't insist Leavers continue to justify this stupid mistake.
We won't shut up. Live with it.
Just as we would have to if we had won the referendum.

bearbehind · 04/04/2018 09:47

It's in lots of place kenndodd but I read it here

KennDodd · 04/04/2018 09:51

Was this promised before the ref anywhere?

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 09:53

@howabout

The largest contributor to the £72bn is employment taxes of £31bn

Absolutely correct. 90% of that is comprised of the gigantic taxes on the comp of London investment bankers, asset managers and hedgies. Think about it: how much does a bank branch worker, of which there are still plenty, make? £15k? £10k of which is tax free. It's peanuts.

2/3 of the sector's employees are outside London.

Yep, and - as per the above - those employees contribute next to no tax in the grand scheme of things.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 04/04/2018 10:35

Londonmum8 - if you have other options and can go work elsewhere then feel free. Stop wasting your time on the internet and go work somewhere else in your beloved eu. The rest of us will pick up the slack and I’m sure we will recover from your loss in time.

As to other posters falling back on that trope that the entire country not choosing to exercise their vote somehow invalidates the result - you really are clutching at straws. The referendum had a large turnout by any standard. After all general election turnout statistics are similar - But i don’t see you endlessly preaching in threads that any government in the last 20 years would also have been illegitimate on the same logic.

In any event I am done with you zealots. This thread has been hijacked by the moral superiority of the arrogant fighting an intellectual battle they have already lost.

Ghost of has also joined the fray - if anything shows there is little point in contributing to a thread any more then it is her appearance. She must surely be paid per post.

I look forward to Independence Day - I for one will be getting the fireworks and champagne in.

CardinalSin · 04/04/2018 10:48

Very much how it's been portrayed on here too...

Hey

"I look forward to Independence Day - I for one will be getting the fireworks and champagne in."

While you're waiting for your independence day, do you have any comment on Bear's post upthread at 9.11.30? These are all things which have to be resolved before independence day. Even champagne and fireworks have a best before date.

Mistigri · 04/04/2018 10:55

It warms the cockles of my heart to that my fellow Britons will be cracking open the champagne to celebrate the removal of my right to continue to live in the same country as my children.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 11:14

@Heyduggeesflipflop

Londonmum8 - if you have other options and can go work elsewhere then feel free. Stop wasting your time on the internet

Ah yes, if everything else fails apparently it's always good to tell half the country to go away. The point is I have the options and most Brexiters don't. Yet I'm supposedly the one getting a bloody nose? Grin

The rest of us will pick up the slack and I’m sure we will recover from your loss in time.

Again, those are just silly empty words TBH. How on Earth will that be possible? Are we going to work the soil so hard it will be like shaking a money tree? Tell us the detailed plan please! If you are going to start talking about new trade deals, unlike DD / LF muppets, do explain the following basics of your idea:

  • How will they improve on our EU trade deals?
  • How does Britain potentially stand to profit from them vs the current situation?
  • How much time will it take to seal those deals?
  • On what basis do you think that Britain will be able to negotiate better deals than the EU trade deals superpower.

Many thanks in advance!

surferjet · 04/04/2018 11:28

Me too.
But leaving the EU doesn’t mean we won’t still have a deep & special relationship with Europe - of course we will, they’re our closest allies after all.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 11:28

www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2017-03-29/u-k-s-big-brexit-mistake-on-financial-services-video

Very valid a year on, sadly.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 11:29

doesn’t mean we won’t still have a deep & special relationship with Europe

Yeah, just like we have a deep and special relationship with Trump. He will rape us running.

surferjet · 04/04/2018 11:35

Do you really think Trump will be president in 5 years time?
I’ll be shocked beyond belief if he gets re-elected.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 11:45

Do you really think Trump will be president in 5 years time?

What are you saying? Some of the people who voted Trump in might wisen up? That's possibly the first truly optimistic thought here. Still we don't know that, we don't know who might come in after him, and there is no telling if the protectionist tendencies will ease given the rise of Asia. Sounds like pretty much the dumbest time to ditch a privileged seat at the EU table and go out there hoping for miraculous trade deals.

As a personal insult to BFJ, an Australian official recently stated they look forward to doing more business with Ireland as the new main English-speaking gateway yo Europe. When will the Leavers wake up?

howabout · 04/04/2018 11:52

London if you have other options:
a) why do you care either way?
b) why are you not busy pursuing them since you are so convinced of our error.

BTW bit sceptical that all those City Bankers are paying full PAYE. Also not many in Edinburgh FS sector on minimum wage. Grin - being as well connected and informed as you purport to be I am sure you are already aware of these details. (Always worth bearing in mind it took a Scotsman to single handedly break the entire International banking system - according to the UK political establishment anyway.)

bearbehind · 04/04/2018 12:04

So no comment from Leavers on anything that's tangible, i.e. not rainbows and unicorns.

I thought this one of the 15 'tests' was particularly interesting

The UK must seek to maintain convergence with EU regulations in all relevant areas in order to maximise access to European markets

Back to BINO then.

bearbehind · 04/04/2018 12:05

doesn’t mean we won’t still have a deep & special relationship with Europe

Only the truly brain washed could use those specific words in all seriousness.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 04/04/2018 12:11

Bear, I’d suggest there’s an element of trolling to some posts.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 12:11

@howabout By and large, the answers to your questions are in the Bloomberg video I posted above. Let's discuss once you've watched it, and again, let's focus on the main issue here: how exactly is Brexit going to help us? How will it improve Britain? How can we make up for the loss of EU business?

gussyfinknottle · 04/04/2018 12:18

Should've got my Irish passport by "independence day" to make up for the rights I am losing.
My home grown garden should be in full swing.
Brexit made me a prepper. Suppose I should be grateful for losing faith in my own country.

surferjet · 04/04/2018 12:20

Only the truly brain washed could use those specific words in all seriousness

So what sort of relationship do you see us having once we leave?
Are you hoping for a bad one? Hmm

Mistigri · 04/04/2018 12:24

We'll either be in the single market or we'll be a third country. There are no other alternatives.

PutTheChocEggDown · 04/04/2018 12:29

You know, I have never once read a sensible reason for Brexit by any Brexiteer. Just meaningless soundbites about getting some mythical idea of sovereignty back and the magic bus that promised magic money to the NHS. Most of the Brexiteers I know are pensioners who like getting away to Benidorm a few times a year and now have the cheek to complain about how expensive everything is.

KennDodd · 04/04/2018 12:31

@surferjet

Well a worse relationship than we have now, surely that's what you wanted?

The economic arguments for Brexit don't stand up to any kind of scrutiny, even our pro Brexit government's own reports confirm we will be worse off. But money isn't everything and I completely respect people who voted Leave knowing this (And I say this as somebody losing my job because of brexit). When I voted the economy was way down this list. Ahead of this was stuff like peace in NI and no conflict over Gibraltar, FOM around the EU (keeping it) International cooperation on crime and terrorism, science and education projects.

LondonMum8 · 04/04/2018 12:32

@PutTheChocEggDown

To quote our saviour Trump: SAD.
